I'm Eeyore. Always have been. Blurrrrrgh. -
Awwwwwwwww Eeyore is so cute!
I might just start going to Church again.....

Kam - good to hear Boo is having some fun - hope she improves more!!
Chickadee - hope the WBR goes ok - big hugs from Oz!!!
Off work tomorrow for the dreaded breast screening BUT I'm having my keratin hair treatment in the morning so that will improve my mood. A wee bit cranky about having to sit around waiting, waiting while they do the mammo and US - hopefully I don't get called back in for more. I chose not to have an MRI this year - can't afford it. Also having an ultrasound of my goitre before I go to the breast clinic. -
That's a lot of testing all in one day Suzie! Does your public health plan not pay for MRIs? Ours does - I go annually with the next one next week. The only trouble is that our local hospital doesn't have the right set up for breast MRIs so (instead of the usual 10 minute walk) I have to drive 45 minutes to the closest bigger hospital. That looks like an opportunity to go shopping to me.
Hope all goes well. While it's a nuisance to have all these follow up tests, it's reassuring to know that we are being monitored carefully. Bring your smart phone or tablet for entertainment during the waiting times. -
Are the follow up MRI's for lumpectomies?? -
I didn't have MRIs after my lumpectomy, and have had them since the mastectomy. Also I have a mammogram annually so that there is some check every six months. -
-
-
lassie - MRI and mammo for remaining breast?? On iPhone otherwise might expound on my ignorance! -
About that Pope Francis. I agree I like him, like him a lot. As a lapsed catholic, or a failure to indoctrinate, it would take a hell of a lot more than one good man to get me to go to church. That church has too much to answer for IMHO. -
They do have a lot to answer for but I used to love to go to Church and meditate for an hour. The fact that this Pope is acknowledging some of the problems gives me hope!

Piglet checking in
Can SMELL the lily-of-the-valley, and the roses climbing over MY garden fence, which still exists in my imagination.
BREN - forgot to send you and your friend a hug, especially, it just hurts SO much when it's someone so close.
Chickadee, my cousin posted a picture online of her wearing that crazy mask - with a funny caption, which I can't remember, also many bad, "bad" words about this @$%!@#%#$@ disease...everything crossed for YOUR SUCCESS too..
Think this Pope is SUCH a humanitarian, good person, generous LARGE inclusive Soul...
OK, I am definitely NOT modern. Just called Canon to get a new print head for my 7 year old printer, was discontinued in 2011. Never gonna' get used to the way we make things obsolete rather than repair. NEVAH...full disclosure, I wash & let dry plastic sandwich bags to reuse them.
PhuquingPinktober is almost over.... -
Wonderful file on my laptop. Blue's Beautiful Gardens & Flowers to paint. -
Morning Everyone!
Yikes! I am so sore from raking and blowing leaves, I can barely lift my arms. Everything hurts! I better get in shape real quick though, I have a gazillion more leaves to go.
Getting a little anxious about the radiologist visit with my sis tomorrow. I wish it was me and not her having to get more tests and meet with the doctor.
I'm also stressing because I have had NO work so far this month. This is a first. And one of my doctors has yet to pay me. arghhh.
Blue .. Love the pictures this a.m. Always wanted a bulldog, but they are so stubborn! And all that snorting and drooling.
Kay .. I'm not Catholic, but I'm really liking the new Pope. Don't know what I believe in anymore.
Sunny .. I'm with you .. so glad pink October is almost over.
Chickadee .. How did the WBR go yesterday? How many treatments do you have to have and are they every day? Just know we're all with you every step of the way.
hugs,
Bren -
Sunflowers I had an issue with a Vermont Castings Gas BBQ that was discontinued, but by spending a few hours with Dr. Google I was able to find the part I needed. It was at a little company in Arkansas who had more than a few of them, and they were happy to ship it to me, I love my Visa card. What did they know? I suspect if you do a search armed with the model and part number that you might still find it.
We recycle everything too! Plastic bags see several live before they go out in the blue box (washed of course). -
Arkansas natives are a very thrifty bunch. They save parts from stuff that can't be fixed. They decorate their gardens with what remains. Flowers and vines climb through and over this charming lawn art. Even termite ridden barns are allowed to gently melt into the ground rather than be torn down. I know it sounds messy but it really is quite charming.
The family owned hardware stores have replacement parts for appliances that haven't been sold in years. It was a great loss when our local hardware store owner decided to retire and closed his store. He was a genius in stocking his shelves. No matter what I needed he had one.
-
Notself are you from Arkansas? When I found the part on Google, I had to phone because I really wanted to hear what an Arkansonian (?) sounded like. It was lovely. My mental image of the rural part of the state has been confirmed by your description. it makes me happy. -
Originally from California. Moved to the Ozarks of Arkansas to be close to my family, who wasn't from the Ozarks but it's a long story.
I miss the big cities, but I love the beauty of the mountains. There are so many people who have moved here from out of state that the Arkansas accent is disappearing in this area. The central and southern part of the state still retains the accent. It is a very soft accent until one approaches the Oklahoma boarder, then it becomes "twangy".
-
I've been living in the south for 8 years now ... and sometimes I still can't understand what people are saying.
hugs,

Breast MRIs cost a fortune here - no rebate from government or private health - about $900. I've decided to wait and see if the bs thinks I need one this year. I was having 6 monthly monitoring (alternating MRI and mammo/US) due to bc and lumpectomies on both sides but she has put me back on annual screening. I really think the chance of local recurrence is far less than the chance of mets, so I decided to spend my hard earned money on my hair. Besides I found out they don't do MRI's on Wednesdays and I had already made the mammo appt and booked the day off work. When I see the surgeon next month, I'll discuss it with her and if she thinks I should have one, I can book it then. -
Chiming in and hoping all are doing well. Short on time lately so not keeping up too well....anywhere. I did read an interesting article just a bit ago that I'll leave here. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/10/22/judge-carlo-key-tx-renounces-gop/
While I don't find it all so hard to believe, I do wonder how far it will actually go. I listened to a cousin yesterday saying how she soooo disliked the President......and within it all I just felt I was actually hearing what people around her have said. She was not even talking much like the person I grew up with and have spent so much time with since returning home 16 yrs. ago.
I do think there will be honest, hard working people who will want to switch parties and not be aligned with nor connected to anyone who could act in such heinous irresponsible ways with that amt. of destruction attached. Time will tell. We may end up us Democrats and T. Pee'ers, with some Independents.

Arkansas is also well known for the high quality of the quartz crystal found there... -
This is for you Blue
My MiL keeps saying we must sort out all her things and I say well, I want a couple of things - your roses and a set of books she has. She doesn't no what to say to that cause she has some beautiful things.
Question from a Kiwi. One of my redneck fb 'friends' is going on about Obama care saying it would cost 3 times as much as she pays for her insurance now? Hers was extremely cheap even for here, about $230 per month. I need facts.
At least today our news wasn't about the mayor but I don't think that fiasco is over yet. The fires in Australia are the headlines. Won't be surprised if we get ash here and have the most beautiful sunsets when the Aussies have bush fires.
Must get some housework done as I want to do patchwork. -
Aly - I pay $356 a month for private here. -
Thank you Alyson!
