    C4C - great link. I don't have cable tv where I live, so it's interesting to learn what I'm "missing." Giving thanks for NOT having it, so I get the major networks, and all the PBS ( 7 of them!) stations in this area. Bliss. I could use a satellite thingie, but don't need it for the stations I get. Yes, it's a bit like living in the 1960's, and I really LOVE it. I've never been much of a tv person, except for PBS.


    So happy Bill Moyers is back. And all the Masterpiece Theaters.

    BRITTANY (age 4) Had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: 'How does it know it's me?'



    SUSAN (age 4) Was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. 'Please don't give me this juice again,' she said, 'It makes my teeth cough..'



    DJ (age 4) Stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: 'How much do I cost?'



    CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried when his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, 'I don't know what'll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in it?'



    MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: 'Why is he whispering in her mouth?'



    TAMMY(age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, 'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'



    JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: 'The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.' Concerned, James asked: 'What happened to the flea?'

    The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget...



    And finally the answer to the question:



    This particular Sunday sermon....'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust...' He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

    Sunny, thank you, thank you. I read ( just the butt dust part ) that somewhere quite some time ago and had forgotten all about it. Inserting large hearty chuckle here!!!!! Reminds me of my cousins little grand daughter. Had the small table with a couple of her dolls sitting in chairs across from her. As Mom and Grand'Mere were walking pass she was telling the 'dolls'............as she gave Sunday sermon....And Jesus said, don't bother me and don't bother me.


    Had to think her mother may have had to use the phrase ( I know it would have been very lovingly ) many times don't bother me right now or something like it.


    Read an piece just now I'll share. Just another view of how T. 'the carny guy' Cruz is viewed and how it could play out. IMHO it will definitely not play out well for him. I think since the wacko Bush years people have been fairly fed up with how things go in Washington and just as much un-rest and un-happiness with how the Repugs/TPer's , have continued their destructive/obstructionist tactics from the minute Pres. Obama has taken office.


    It will not look any different come election time....it will be looking worse I'm sure as memories are totally refreshed.     Jackie - love the picture, gives me goose pimples to remember that day. I watched it on TV, and also reminded me of the election Night crowd in Chicago....think it's more than resentment. I think there is so much FEAR about how the country is changing, and that soon it will be majority "brown" - not the image of the New England "WASP" culture which dominated for so long. So much has changed, and there has always been an element that is terrified of not being "dominant." It's not 1776, or 1956, it's 2013, thank goodness.

    Sorry - no to time to catch up except for seeing Bren's dog that does look like a Seal - how cute! And the 2 grandsons too. Must be hard to leave them. :(


    Brought Ms Boo home last night. Alas, not pancreatitis, so probably cancer (per the 3rd vet). Second vet said maybe heart and first vet (internist qualified) was confident from initial test, not cancer, so I have no idea what is wrong with her, but basically have her on supportive care until the inevitable. The problem is accumulating fluid her abdomen and chest. Another vet once told my friend, 7 years seems to be a hump point for a cat. An age that many can get cancer or heart issues, otherwise live on to a healthy full life. She is too young.


    Had first attempt away from Vet of giving her the SubQ needle - ugh. She didn't cry or squirm when I did it at the Vet's. The liquid prednisone is relatively easy. She eats a little. She was more lively upon arrival home last night, but now curled in a ball and breathing fast. I have no idea what to expect. I've been told days to 2 weeks. "I will know when it's right to take her to the local Vet." Right now I'm basking in the happiness of having her home.

    Yesterday, I had a sad moment. I was with friends and one was talking about her young yorkie's antics. I said, almost to myself, Chloe used to do that. Then I just felt so sad and depressed thinking about how much she has changed and gone down hill. Brought it all home. : (

    ((( Yorkie ))) ((( Kam ))) ... so sorry to hear about your Ms. Boo and Chloe. We love them so much and it's very painful when we have to make that decision at the end. It hurt like hell when I lost my Bobo four years ago. Sometimes I still call Tank by Bobo's name.


    Cold and rainy in my part of the country. All the leaves are turning brown and falling off the trees ... they aren't turning red and yellow like last year. Does anyone know why that happens?


    Tim is home today ... and we ran a bunch of errands and did grocery shopping. Wish I was in Cancun with Libby!


    I'm happy though, I bought a pair of Bare Trap booties for 40% off today and I had a coupon for 20%. Last day of the sale. Haven't had new shoes for winter in years ... so it was a big occasion for me!

    Our Chickadee isn't doing so well. She posted on the Stage IV, isn't a name for this crap. Or something like that that she has numerous brain mets and is to start WBR on Monday. And she has shit for brains HR and health insurance people to deal with.

    Nice boots, Bren!! About the leaves... I think it's the rain. Usually in the NW, the leaves pretty much just seem to turn brown and fall, but occasionally (like this year) we have an autumn where it doesn't rain every day. They then turn beautiful colors. At least that's my experience - I'll leave it to others to provide the scientific reasons, as I'm not feeling like doing research today. :)

    A sad afternoon......(((Chickadee ))) and I feel awful about Miss Boo and Cloe. No matter what happens though I hope you Yorkie and Kam will think about all the homeless and un-wanted pets/furry people who spend most of their lives if not all of it, mainly alone, foraging for some sort of meal -- left to their own to care for themselves in any way possible.


    When I have lost -- when I have had to do the un-thinkable and help a loved companion depart this life, though I'm sad, mad, broken-hearted and discouraged in so many ways, I ALWAYS recall for the time my friend shared my life, and I theirs, they had a warm, dry place to sleep, someone who doted on them and their total perfection, and every one was perfect in every way, and who made sure that they never wanted. I don't miss them any less, or cry any less, but I in time, sometimes a pretty long time, can take comfort that they had a good life without the stress so many, many face. They gave much to me and I was allowed to give back. It gets to where it has to be ok because they do not last as long as we do, even at the best of times. They are love without end or conditions. Only in the furry friend world can you find that.
