I am still unable to post from kindle or phone. Android phone. Any help would be appreciated.
-
Hi gramwe, we passed it along. Hopefully it will get resolved today!!!
Sorry! -
Thanx for all you're doing Mods. When I use any buttons and then click in the text field, the Left align button always defaults to being active/hi-lighted. Just thought Id ask, is that correct behaviour? Not a biggie, just wondering.
Still 100% reproducible is attempting to paste causes complete inability to enter text, use the spacebar, use the return. By hitting preview and going back to text field frees everythjng up again. I also just tried this using the menu copy and paste options (bypassing the keyboard) and no go either. -
Thanks Musical -- we'll add these issues to the list for the tech team! -
Any news on the smileys? -
Nothing yet, sorry ruthbru. We weren't really expecting anything to happen with emoticons over the weekend, but we have provided the members' list of the requested smileys to the tech team.

Any idea when I can post pictures or make paragraphs or bold type or any of the stuff from the tool bar that still isn't there? My poor spelling is hanging out there for all to see since I have no spell check.
-
I'm not having problems posting from my iPhone. But I would like to be able to post pics from it. Any chance of that happening?
And the smilies too? -
Yikes, what did they actually upgrade? -
Chabba, are you sure your spelling is THAT bad. I do go through periods of bad spelling, and at first thought I did not have a spell checker......but it is here. I do get a red line if the word is miss-spelled. I have a red line right now under the m i s .....had to do it that way so I wouldn't get the line. so going over to hit my cursor on the m i s and have it fixed.
Anyway, just thinking, maybe you are spelling better than you think you are...................and when you do get the spell checker in and working.....I have found that strange words....not found in the regular dictionary.... this spell checker will give you a chance to make it a word and put it into your online dictionary.....like the word ARIMIDEX which did not get a red line here because I was able to add it to my dictionary.
I'm saying don't lose heart, but I'll admit I was finding some of the things off-putting and there are a couple of things for me yet.....needs time and work.

chabba, the tech folks have worked from member reports and their own testing so they know that some older versions of Windows in combination with Internet Explorer aren't compatible with the recent changes. They're working on specific minimum system requirements so we'll all know what's needed to use the boards' features.
Spookiesmom, you're able to post from your iPhone, but you don't see the formatting panel at all?
No one sees the emoticons now, but the team is working on restoring the smilies for everyone, we just don't know when that will be. -
Thanks Moderators, I'll be watching for the requirements. I am happy with my old desk top as a workhorse but I've been planning to invest in a second, portable platform specificaly for internet access.

is the Help With Abbreviations box new or have I just missed it? -
2nd_time_around, we've had the information in the "Information and resources for new patients, and new members" forum for a long time, and recently added the link to it in the blue navigation menu. :-) -
Tool bar, is it invisible? Do I need special glasses? Just kidding. L&H's. But people keep talking about a tool bar. I don't have one

Sorry you do not see a tool bar-(no special glasses should be needed)
What platform (PC or Mac), operating system, and browser are you using? -
Laptop with router, windows 7 professional, IE. Is the tool bar where the old tool bar was, right above the "post a reply" box? Thanks sassy
-
Well, I am sure that this is old news, but I can no longer use the chat rooms after upgrading my machine to Mountain Lion. I have the latest Java version installed 7.rev40. Have tried all three browsers but the java chat room doesn't recognize either RETURN or ENTER on the keyboard. So I can enter the room, but can not send any text that others can see. I can see what others are sending. There is no button or key command equivalent for sending the text, so I am no longer able to use this feature.

Here is the new look of the tool bar- It is right above where you post. -
susan
Thanks for outlining your problems with chat room- We are passing them along. -
I keep coming back to check on problems/update/cure findings. I know little about computers and lucky I can use one, but find myself pretty amazed that so many issues come up from changing a tool-bar.
Patiently hoping for wonderful results when all the glitches are solved.
Thanks again ( though my issues are quite small ) for all you do to keep us going here mods.

My whole problem, or one of them is I cannot get anything to "paste" after I copy it.
I open up the little picture icon, where it says Insert Image..... then if I hit Link, or Insert, I cannot "paste"..... nothing.... no-where, no-how. So my "paster" is broke, or just not working.... but just on here! I can "paste" pictures onto emails....
I used to could just copy a picture, then come here to paste, and the picture was there.
Can the tech people just figure out what happened? -
Chabba, I'm also with you.... No spell checker, or wavey linnes, or red inything.... and no smileys...:) Can you tell?
BUT at least I have a tool-bar. baby steps, right? -
If I understood the Moderator right no matter how they tweak the new system it won't support my windows XP. I've been thinking of getting a laptop anyway so guess I'll just have to bite the bullet, decide what I want and order one.
-
I am running a Dell desk-top with Vista operating system.... and I don't have any other problems with any other site.... So even if I can't get this site to work right, at least I can still post....:) -
Ah- hah, my problem is I have no tool bar
Good to know b/c I started messing with stuff IIIIIIII don't know anything about. So, at least I didn't screw up the works
thanks I'll wait till one appears Sassy

I have a tool bar now. GardenGumby told me to click on the compatibility in the tools box. For me the compatibility icon was on the URL line. Between the looking glass and the refresh icon. Don't know how long it's been there. BUT when I held the cursor over it, Viola, the little box said compatibility. Clicked on it and the tool bar appeared. Followed the rest of Garden gumby's instruction and I posted a pic. YAY ! -
Im on XP & Firefox. Ive previously mentioned about scripts a lot. I don't know about any of you on this board but I run an extension in FF called "noscripts" which I have set to block all scripts and I allow them to run on a case by case/as needed basis. I also have a whitelist. No scripts is essentially a security utility which, similar to a rules based Firewall, you have to "train". I THINK there is a Mac version but not sure about which browser and I don't know if it works in IE. I just offer this for those of you who are willing to be brave and don't mind a learning curve and a little tweaking. If that's you, then go get and install "noscripts". If you don't like it then just uninstall it, which FF easily allows you to do through your Tools > add-ons.
When I come here, Im in "barebones" mode. Courier font, no toolbar and certainly no way to upload piks. I click on an option on the flip menu of Noscripts "temporarily allow breastcancer.org" which brings up the full(er) html version of the webpage with toolbar. THEN if I want to upload a pik, UNFORTUNATELY I have to then allow a Google script to run "ajax.googleapis.com" (using the flip menu).
Mods if this helps any, for me, in barebones mode Im getting full spell checking.
Copy paste is also fine in BB mode. Haven't tried the pik link yet, only uploading from HDD. -
susan_02143, unfortunately the problem you're experiencing with using Chat is something I know from experience too. Our chat software is very, very "mature" and it won't work with the new Mac OS, in just the way you've described. When I want to go to chat I have to fire up my old laptop which doesn't have the system upgrade. -
Okay, get THIS!
