nwest~~I was stunned when the dome first came down, the scene with the cow! I think I rewound it 3 times to make sure It was what I thought.
Yes, I think it's a keeper.

I have begun rewatching Breaking Bad on Netfliks before the final 8 shows begin in August I think. It is as well written and entertaining as it was the first time I watched it. Thanks again Marybe.

Hi valjean- thanks for the recommendation for "orphan black". I just saw this site and that was the first recommendation I tried. Love it! I am only through episode 1 so far but looking forward to the others. I love BBC.
I am a scientist, so I love anything about clones (and also genetic engineering, weird monsters, etc. - yes I am a science nerd, haha). My guilty pleasure is any silly monster movie on the SyFy channel- bad special effects and all! I am usally writing a grant or manuscript when these are on however, they are that mindless.
My favorite on BBC this year has been "in the flesh"- about sufferers of PDS aka partial death syndrome. Zombies being rehabilitated through medicine. Very well done and actually believable, the main guy Keiran is great. sadly it seems they made only three episodes.
Nice escapism, thanks for this. I try to rest in bed when I can and TV is good to relax the brain and reduce stress. I will try these other recommendations next. Please keep 'em coming!!!

Sciencegal did you see Sharknado? I understand that there is a II coming out too.
I am watching the season 15 of BigBrother and it is good. All newcomers and strangers to one another.
I rewatched Breaking Bad the entire series for the second time. As good or better as the first time. Waiting for the final episodes soon.
I like the new show Motive.
-
Ginger~~We watch Motive and are really enjoying Under the Dome.
Three weeks from Sunday until BREAKING BAD! Yea!!! August 11.
Paula -
Sharknado was hilarious! The cheesiest of them all haha. Can't wait for sharknado two.

BREAKING BAD COUNTDOWN!!!
11 Days until Breaking Bad Returns.....Sunday..Aug. 11!!! -
Gimme a 10 !!!!!!!

This is a documentary, not a TV series so doesnt quite fit the thread, but we just watched "cancerpants" - it was really good. Bless her heart for being so open about each step of her journey. I think most of us can sure relate.
I never have watched breaking bad but from your enthusiasm it sounds good. what is it about, in general? -
Sciencegal~~Breaking Bad is about a High School chemistry teacher in New Mexico with a pregnant wife and a teenage son with Cebralpalsy (spelling). The teacher, Walt, is dx with cancer. Worrying about taking care of his family, he hooks up with a former student and they start cooking meth.
Bodies start dropping like flies, and this mild mannered teacher, who just wants to take care of his family, becomes a different person. It's full of surprises and is very well written.
Paula -
That sounds awesome- thank you! i am going to see if I can catch up on past season(s). I can get a lot of past episodes of different TV seasons on my notebook through xfinity.
AND, I am on vacation next week to celebrate finishing rads.
Thanks!!

Those of you who are Downton Abbey fans - date for Season 4 is January 5, 2014. New scenes out from filming. My PBS tonight showing Downton Abbey Revisited again. Can't wait.
Never gotten into Breaking Bad. Never was a NCIS, Bones etc fan though DH and I have enjoyed many an episode of House.
-
LOVE House! Our University would fire him in a heartbeat, but I love the stories!
-
I just set my DVR to tape BREAKING BAD next Sunday night on AMC at 10:00 pm est.
-
BREAKING BAD ALERT!!!!!!!!!
Tonight August 11, 2013........10:00 pm on AMC -
whoo hoo right after Dexter.
-
Someone else mentioned "Under The Dome and I have been watching that, because it is only 13 episodes long. Didn't want to get embroiled in a longer series right now. It's one of those not-really-scientific science fiction stories. And it does have Hank in it from Breaking Bad.
I'm ready for Breaking Bad tonight. Going to be fun to see how Walt ends up after all these seasons. Walt can't posible live after all he's done, can he?
-
I just hope they don't kill Jesse. I will be totally upset if Jesse goes down.
-
Thinking about our beloved Marybe, hope she's watching BB in heaven ... it was her who got so many of us hooked

-
Anderson Cooper Live on ABC this afternoon is repeat of December 2012 show with cast of Downton Abbey. Too late for east/central time zone I would guess but not for those west coasters. I had not seen this one.
-
Is everyone caught up on BB.Do you think they will try to take out the brotherinlaw?
-
Only 3 more episodes to go!
How's BB going for everyone?!?
I'm staying away from all articles about the show, I don't want to know anything about anything until it happens! I've stayed away from this thread even until now because I was behind on watching the episodes, just got caught up tonight.
I'll love to say more - just deleted some comments - don't want to spoil anything for anybody who hasn't watched all episodes up to this date.
I have soooo missed this show!
I will say for the record: This is the best show I have ever seen!!
~~ How ya doing, leggo?? Can you catch your breath yet??~~
-
Hi Valjean! I missed my BB buddy!
Did I catch my breath???? Barely.....good grief. My boys were watching downstairs and I was watching upstairs and there's about a one second delay in the feed. Our yelling had a one second delay too. It was hilarious.
Next Sunday can't come soon enough. There's so much I want to babble on about, but I don't want to spoil it for those still catching up. Save it to say, this last one was an edge-of-your-seater. The last time I got that worked up was when they were stealing the methylamine off the train. Broke out in a little bit of a sweat on that one too!
Can you believe there are still people out there who haven't heard of this show?
ETA: Is "Sons" coming back? I haven't seen a single commercial. -
Don't kill off Jesse, don't let Jesse die!!!!!
It takes some deadly good writing to make you love a junkie! -
leggo~~Im with you. My #1 hope since the beginning is that Jesse comes out better than ok.
I watched the last episode last night. We DVR everything we watch. Anyway Valjean, it was definitely a nail biting edge of your seat episode!
Remember the first episode this season? Walt went into his house which looked to be run down & abandoned. He gets the tiny vial of ricin out of the light switch, then goes out to his car. When the neighbor lady sees him, she throws her groceries and acts like she's seen a ghost. I wonder what that's about?
I'm so going to miss this show.

Did anyone else watch Last Tango in Halifax on PBS Sunday? I liked it but then I think I was really destined to be born English even if I can't understand half the language. It is availabe on PBS.org.
I must one of the only persons who has not watched BB. Guess meth labs just too close to home. Had a car in Ft. Worth "burst into flames" couple weeks ago. Turns out they were manu. meth in the car, shaking a flask when the reaction went bad. I see BB is set in Albuquerque. Do they show any scenery? I lived there as a child.
-
luvmygoats~~Breaking Bad is whole lot more than making meth. It's about an ordinary family man who teaches high school chemistry. He has a pregnant wife and a teenage son with Cebralpalsy.
Walter White, the teacher, is diagnosed with cancer. He's frantically wondering how he will pay for his treatment and provide for his family if and when he dies. One night while doing a ride along with his DEA brother in law they do a drug bust. While waiting in the car Walter witnesses one of his former students climbing out the window of the drug house.
He later approaches the kid, Jesse, and comes up with a plan to provide for his family.
Since he's a chemist and Jesse knows the streets, they will cook meth together.
But, Walter, who starts out as a desperate man trying to save his family soon becomes a cold blooded killer. There are so many twists to this series. It's very well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Hey, leggo, yeah I've missed you, too, BB Buddy!! SOA (Sons of Anarchy for those who might not know what we're talking about) started its Season 6 tonight (Tues) - I DVR'd it, will watch it in the morning (unless something interrupts!) I've been wondering how you were enjoying BB so far. Geez, now, need I even wonder?!? LOL !! When it comes to this show, you are just like me! And I do sit on the edge of seat while watching with the remote in hand. Too crazy!!
Yes, luvmygoats, there has been plenty of Albuquerque scenery throughout these years of the show, esp. the episode from this past Sunday which was stunning. Absolutely beautiful! I DVR all the very good shows, love to watch some episodes more than once. (and even tho I love the DH, there are plenty of shows I save to watch by myself-cannot stand talking while concentrating on the conversation & emotional moments in a show I have been waiting to watch. I know that must sound horrible to some, but that's just me! I can't tell you the times I have paused a show in real time (DirecTV) or a DVR'd show, to let DH talk & then continue.) I DVR'd Last Tango in Halifax to watch at a later date. I see there will be 6 episodes & it has been renewed for a Series 2. (they don't call their seasons a Season, they call them a Series. Hope I said right.
) I saw the trailer for it & it looked like a wonderful, pleasant show & I look forward to it.As for BB, it truly is a once in a lifetime show.
I so very much wish ♥ Marybe ♥ could be enjoying these final 8 episodes with us.......

-
OMG Valjean! I missed Sons. I had no idea the new season started today. I'll have to go on the hunt to find out if it's being re-broadcast. Crap!
Ditto about Mary. Wish we could all hang out, talking about our favourite show. -
Has anyone seen the previews for BLACKLIST? It stars James Spader, formerly Alan on Boston Legal. It looks kind of like a Hannibel Lectner type role. He's a killer whom they use to catch other killers, but he's very cunning. It looks really good.
My DH works until 2:00 am so we DVR our shows and watch when he gets home. We were so upset watching UNDER THE DOME tonight to find out it started taping 30 minutes late to accommodate a rerun of Big Bang Theory. So, we missed the second half. BUMMER!!!!
