    Hi Everyone,

Been a busy day for me ... you guessed it ... more mowing! Tim is still stuck in Kentucky.  I'm beyond frustrated about that.  It sucks when things are going on around you and you have no control over any of it.

Blue ... Love the picture of the blue vanity.  Perfect use for an old vanity that's just gathering dust.  In another life, I did a lot of shabby chic painting on furniture and that blue vanity would have looked so cute in my other yards.

    hugs,

    Bren

    Morning all

Well its morning here. Have been reading about the voting in the US- I just can't understand your law makers sometimes. I can't understand ours at times but they are qnite sane in comparison.

About Bumble Bees - DH's company actually breds them. They use them in the glass houses because bees don't like glass houses and a couple of years ago the person who supplied the bumble bees was in financial trouble they decided to buy them out and bred there own and now supply lots of places.

With ordinary bees we are also to blame because we are not growing the flowers they like such as lavendars, budleia etc. Our gardens are too pristine for the bees. i must say that this past summer I have had lots of bees in the lavendar.

Any way I am smiling cause I have just spoken to my babies in Canada. Said it has been a hot day in Oakville. Poor DD arrived there and got pnuemonia but does look better today thankfully.

I had little Philip and my DD over today.  It was a great day!  Off to take a nap before Ray gets home!

In my last two houses I always tried to grow things that bees (and butterflies and hummingbirds) would like.  Even so, for a few years there we hardly ever saw a bee - the last year or two they seemed to be making a comeback.  No matter which of the two houses we get, I'll for certain be planting some bee friendly plants - not so much in the one in Tacoma (small yard).  We'll probably keep the grass in the front yard, but I'll be doing away with the grass in the back.  I'd much rather have herbs and flowers than grass!!!  There's also a fair amount of hardscaping, so containers will be my friends.

No matter which house we get I'll be happy.  I just want the searching over so that I can get on with planning and move forward for retirement.

Things have changed because of the VRA.  Things will change back, now, without it.  I see too many posts in the internet world to know that racism is still going strong.  One just has to see what they did in Florida in 2012 to know African-Americans are still being discouraged from voting.  Listen to the chatter surrounding George Zimmerman's trial - it will make you sick.  Perhaps this SCOTUS move will bring out many more voters than would be expected for an off year election, in 2014.  Payback is a b****.

GG - newest house not in Olympia?? Is that the reason for the change.  Looks like this one is sitting up on a ridgetop.  Do you have a view?

GG....fingers crossed.  The house looks so neat and tidy along with the front yard.  At least some changing or updating would likely have to happen anywhere.

Blue....loved everything you put in today...along with the dresser.  I once saw in a magazine and they were so very tiny.....a real old travel trailer which had been re-done as a potting shed.  It was really delightful.  Made me drool so much but I"m beyond all that now.  Still if someone had an old fashioned travel trailer that they didn't know what to do with........a nice project would be at hand and you would end up with something so useful.

Alyson I am getting a kick out of the description of your and our government/lawmakers.  You are right....far too many here are not only not sane, and many are so stupid, along with those who can't empathize at all.  Quite the enormous mess.  I hope 2014 shuffles a many of them out to the curb where they belong.

    Jackie

Unfortunately, no ridgetop and no view. Real estate agents are great at taking deceptive pictures! I miss seeing the mountain and valleys every day, but wanted smaller and cheaper. So... what we get I'd what we get. If you stand in the middle of the street you can see the top half of the narrows bridge. :)

For sure we will get either this house or the one In Olympia. I don't care which, but know that hubby far and away prefers this location.. I know that if we get this one I can retire on time. I like that!

Oh, I so hope so for MA's sake. And ours, too.

That ANYONE votes for them when it comes down to it.

I can't say anymore about SCOTUS (or SCROTUS as I have seen them dubbed).  It just reinforces my determination to work on GOTV efforts.

Interesting how MA kinda looks like the USA.  Blue on both "coasts" and red in the middle.  Some of the towns went for Markey by almost 90%.

Good Morning from the state of Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward Markey.

Also THANK YOU State Senator Wendy Davis - and check out the shoes she wore for her 11 hour filibuster - no breaks, not allowed to even lean on furniture -and boy, does she have a great life story! Strong Women Unite! Hope our Chickadee is doing well, speaking of Texas.

    Morning Everyone!

Wendy Davis of Texas is my new hero!

Both my dogs are sick from something.  Have been up in the middle of the night for two nights running cleaning up doggie diarrhea and barf. Neither one of them wants to eat. I sure hope they feel better soon.

Jackie ... Agree with you on the humidity.  It's like pea soup down here.  I think we are supposed to get your storm in the next day or two.

Time to get dressed and get a move on things.  Hope everyone has a great day.

    hugs,

    Bren

    I stand with Wendy!

I am thrilled at the overturning of DOMA and letting the lower court's ruling overturning Prop 8 stand, but I remain furious at the destruction of the Voting Rights Act.  So, let's see ... everyone can get married but only some people can vote.  Well ... one step at a time.  I got new walking shoes, so I'll be using them!

In the meantime, I leave you with:

    Layne Lathram
