Good Morning Everyone!

Time to get dressed, walk the dogs and then my very favorite thing to do ... mowing (NOT).

Tim is still stuck in Kentucky.  He may be there for a few more days.  This is getting real old.

Blue .. Love the orchid. Gorgeous colors!

Athena .. I think your angel is a lot like mine!  The good thing is, he looks like he's having lots of fun.

I actually do believe in guardian angels......I envision mine as wearing the jeans and t-shirts I'm most often in and do feel a presence now and then.  I also think there are a few others keeping track, but then I've studied for several years and so my range of feelings is based, sometimes solely on the intuitive sensations and ressonations that appear.  Each person approaches those things that indicate easily and effortlessly and tend to dismiss the rest.  That is how it should be.  We are all unique and tend to often see completely different things....how great to be able to share different outlooks. 

We are in the rain, rain go away mode now, but it will soon and the heat and humidity will set up. Not so great a trade-off.  Well, this spring/summer so far is different from the last not at all pleasant one.  Just keep going and see what happens next.

Some interesting *Snowden* discussions on MTP this morning.   Sure would have liked to have seen Tim Russert handle that, but then I continue to find it difficult to watch David Gregory.  He really doesn't do it for me.

Blue .. Philip looks so much like his brother!  He's adorable.  Love the fur babies too.  Wendel is quite a character.  And Lilah looks lovely with her new hairdo!

Can't you find a rug or something for Mr. Ray of Sunshine to lay on when on the floor?  Ray is having way too much fun with the puppies!

PS .. I finally finished mowing and washing the truck.  I had so much fun (NOT)!  I don't know why I thought it was such a great idea to buy a home with so much property.  arghh.  At least the house is little and easy to care for.

My good friend and her husband had driven to Calagary for work and a bit of a holiday.  They are stuck just north of the city.  No highways out.

After a glorious Spring, Summer is here with the usual heat and humidity.  Although we are out of the drought there still isn't much rain and the grass is starting to brown.  I tried to do some work outside today but only lasted about 30 minutes.  Sure hope we don't have a summer like last year when we had weeks of 100+ heat.

I haven't heard a thing about Calgary here in California - well, afterall, it is Canada.  We never hear news about Canada.  Floods?

I spent the summer of 1972 in Calgary with my relatives.  One day my Aunt and I were lying in the backyard - first time and last time we had done that - looking up at the sky and a meteor crossed our paths - full daylight!  Only recently I looked that up to see if it was a significant event - other than in my own young mind.  Turns out it has a name: "The Great Daylight 1972 Fireball."

I lived in Calgary for 15 years and LOVED it - it's where I met DH and where we were married - we still have many friends there and at least they are all mostly on high ground except for a few who live in our old neighbourhood off the Elbow River (close to downtown on the southside) - our house was built in 1914 and there are a lot of houses over 100 years old in that area - heartbreaking to see what has happened - never had floods when I lived there and I am thankful for that.

I notice when I watch American news (of almost any political persuasion) that maps of the US show absolutely nothing north of the border. 

It reminds me of the social studies classes I took in school in the US in the early 60s which were about the county, the state and sometimes the country but there was no recognition of anything outside the US. I suspect that contributes to the notion of American "exceptionality". If most learn nothing at all about other countries (except as threats) then it is easy to believe that your own country is the only good one.

Thank goodness for people like many here who do try to look beyond the immediate.

Saw the moon last night.  It was fabulous.

Sun:  The quote is from the Midrash - which forms part of the Talmud, both of which are interpretative works discussing the essence of Jewish law and dating from around 200 CE (Jews use Common Era instead of A.D.).  To be honest, my knowledge of either Midrash or Talmud is sketchy, so I googled the quote.  This is the full quote below.

Rabbi Simon said: You will not find a single blade of grass that does not have its mazal -- constellation of stars and/or angel -- in the heavens that strikes it and says to it "Grow!" as it says: "Do you know the ordinances of Heaven? Can you establish its rule (Mishtaro) over the earth?" (Job 38:33). The word for rule, miShTaRo, is from the root ShoTeR, signifying a "police officer" who gives blows to enforce the law [alluding to the "striking" of the plant by the mazal.) The same passage continues: "Can you bind the chains of the stars of the Pleiades or loosen the bands of Orion?" (ibid. v.31). The Pleiades ripen the fruits and give them flavor, while Orion lengthens the stalks of the plants to let the fruits grow. "Can you lead forth the Mazarot in their season?
