It seems that the IRS wasn't so much singling out right-wing groups as just trying to find a quicker way of finding groups that may have been involved in politics. They also used search terms such as 'progressive,' 'occupy,' and 'Israel.' I'm not saying I agree with their methods. But with the growth of all these groups and no corresponding growth in IRS personnel I don't know how they were supposed to manage it.

For my crazy Canadian friends:

The bumble bees seem to be headed for the same fate as the honey bees.  When the bees started disappearing the bumble bees were busy doing a pretty good job of pollinating our orchard.  However, this year, we commented on the fact that there were hardly any bumble bees at blossom time.  Very scary.

Monsanto (?!) thinks it has a cure for the declining honeybee population. Hmmmm...From the article:

Over the past decade, the global honey bee population has plummeted. In the U.S., the population has declined by an average of about 30 percent every year since 2006.

The causes of the bee health decline are complex and include varroa mites, the viruses they transmit, poor nutrition, pesticides, declining habitat and less forage. In agricultural areas, some believe, bee health is especially troubled because the insects have less diverse food options. All of these factors, experts believe, have led to the syndrome known as Colony Collapse Disorder.

“It’s never been more difficult to keep bees alive,” Brand said, underscoring the frustration, even desperation, of many in the room. Bees pollinate nearly $20 billion in American crops each year, and up to $220 billion globally. Their plummeting numbers have researchers, beekeepers, academics, and increasingly, private sector companies scrambling to come up with solutions that have proved frustratingly elusive.

Though extremely disappointed, I am completely unsurprised by the SCOTUS decision regarding Voting Rights.

On another subject - much as I adore my hubby, he's driving me to drink.  It appears that we are getting a different house.    Yes, I'm laughing .  This one is in a much more convenient location.  We were both a bit worried about the size of the project I was taking on for landscaping a third of an acre - this one popped on the horizon over the weekend and is only minutes from where we keep our boat (instead of close to an hour on a good traffic day...) and it's not surrounded by trees - which will work much better from an allergy point of view.  I'll admit that I liked the other house better, but I like this one just fine, so I'm happy.  No CC&Rs, and no HOA fees which I have somewhat mixed feelings about.  I like the fact the CC&Rs make everyone keep their homes up - but at the same time, I don't like the idea that a neighbor who takes a dislike to you can be petty about - oh just about everything.

It's very fifies - was built in 56.  It's got a bit of updating to do to the interior, but not too much, as the last owner (who died in March) did take care of some..  Anyway, I'm hoping that this is the VERY last house shopping deal, as I'm just not up to many more mind changes!!!  (The condo deal is Hawaii is also still looking good.  It's gone along to the bank - it's a short sale - so I'm not expecting any quick movement.)
