Thinking Out Loud.....

"Sucking at something is the first step of sorta being good at something. -Jake the Dog."
that's too funny. Then I have taken the first step at sorta being good at soooo many things!

I'm back. I made the mistake of opening a piece of mail after I got up to go to the bathroom when I should have tried to go back to sleep after being up in the middle of the night... I opened an insurance stmt for a cleaning I had last week. omg - this guy is doing it to me AGAIN!!!!!!
So - recently, my dentist announced that he is merging with another practice. this other guy just happens to be the dentist I left and went to my current dentist because after I had a cleaning and had taken my 2 kids for cleanings, I got the insurance stmt only to find out they weren't covered fully as they had been in the past. Apparently, this guy stopped participating in my insurance and didn't tell me!!!!!! So I was being billed $266 for 3 cleanings that should have been covered at 100%. they ended up "letting" me pay 1/2. Which still pisses me off since I shouldn't have paid anything.
Fast forward about 13 yrs and here we go again. I go for a cleaning and my dentist is in the other office and this guy does my exam. He said I looked familiar and I even said "you used to be my dentist until you stopped taking my insurance." (which technically isn't the right wording -he took my insurance - just not at the participating rate-whatever) So he proceeded to do the exam - probably knowing that he was going to be screwing me over AGAIN!!!!!!
So now I'm waiting for the office to open so I can find out if they planned to bill me this way when it isn't my fault that my dentist wasn't there to do his job for his patient. I should not have to pay an increased rate because they are stupid and are operating a practice where the dentists participate in different insurance plans.
So sick of billing problems. My ins co still owes me flexible spending money they paid out (that got paid back to them by the provider they paid erroneously, but they never passed it along to me) I hate my insurance company. I hate insurance in general. I hate it even more when I see the disparity among what the different customers pay for their meds. (not to mention the people who don't have insurance...) Total BS.
I hope I don't end up with anything else to rant about for a while... (and you do too, I'm sure - lol)
(((((((TOL)))))))

Welome @2nd time! We talk about everything and nothing. Join us!
Hope today goes well Sandy.
Still working on the debit card thing, but I am loaded with questions now. Prom again on friday.
I use overdraft whe a couple years ago I bounced many checks ont he same day, and it was 37.50 per check. I bounced about 6. WOW! That's when I set up overdraft and haven't needed it yet.
-
You can use Debit Cards online as well if you know the billing address. Things can be shipped to other addresses. Guess how much it can be used if it is lost depends on how long it takes one to admit it is lost to have it canceled.
Welcome, 2nd time. I read your dx lines and was taken back when I saw triple neg on your first go around. Since it was so long ago they probably weren't doing the BRCA1 testing, and being TN they don't offer it anyway, but it make you wonder what it might have shown.
A couple of years ago my dentist went out of business and sold his patient files to another dentist who happened to be one I had quit 21 years before. It was a long story but the biggest thing was that I was obviously pregnant, and wrote it on my paperwork and her never took precautions while doing xrays. He noticed it afterward and hesitantly stated "Uh, oh, you're pregnant..." Duh!
So once I found out that dentist had taken over, I went to my parent's dentist. That day the secretary told me that I was not insured. I had myhusband call back with the insurance info and didn't hear back for over a year. Then I started getting bill for nearly a thousand dollars. We have been fighting with them and they keep saying I'm not insured. SO two years later they finally submit the claim to my insurance but send me a bill for finance charges for $286! Then my insurance denies the claim because it has passed the time alloted to submit claims! I need to go to the dentist but hate to go to one that can't handle their paperwork, plus they will probably not let me with the money they claim I owe.
{{{Sandy}}} Make sure you take it easy the next few days.
Hope everyone else is doing well!

Welcome 2nd time around
Joan...sorry i missed you last night...just sent you a PM
Linda....Sorry i can't stop LOL about this Debit Card......you thought it was gonna be something so helpful and easy.....I hope it works out......
Chris.....I admire your patience with everything....
i know we all mothers and want to help to our children but certain things won't change until they move out...Dealt with this upside down room situations......Now DD's house looks so nice because there is nobody to fix things after her
That's why i love living alone to me it's like a luxury....leaving home coming back and find the house the same way i left it
I can tell you one thing after they were 16...i signed a form that they could go to the DR alone
Unless it was something serious......We get involved in our children lives to help them...I was the same way......
Once i stopped doing their wash....about 2 weeks later there was a mountain of clothes in the the basket...both waiting for me and i didn't do it...the funny part was that they were actually hand washing what they needed for the next day......hahahahahahahahahaa
In the morning if the clothes weren't dry....Fan...hair dryer was used......It sounds funny now but believe me i wasn't laughing then
This house turned a hurricane zone the minute they walked in from after school
It looks like a decent day so far.....
Time for my coffee....

Meece -And you hate to pick one out of the phone book... I think that's why I ended up needing gum surgery (which I still haven't finished - another billing problem delayed it 2 yrs - then when I had gotten approved for more I ended up with cancer and have never gone back for the additional surgery)
I hope you can either find a new dentist who is good or get that billing problem straightened out. It's maddening.
-
Sheila - I can only hope that my kids get their acts together and are neat and organized as adults, but I'm afraid they aren't going to be. There are genes in the mix that are pretty extreme when it comes to disorganization (read: borderline hoarding). I don't know if they got my lazy genes that they will be able to overcome or manage or the other genes...
Ha ha - you admire my patience? I have no patience - I am in avoidance mode now - I do things only if I HAVE to and even then I don't do it when I should (and then end up finding out I have cancer a couple years later than I could have -or never finish with the gum surgery I need to have, etc.)
Oh, I called the dentist office - the lady said they are going to write off the difference - it will show up on my bill from them. Only problem with that is that the insurance company determines how much they can charge - if my ins stmt reflects non participating provider amounts, I won't know whether the dentist is charging me participating provider rates.
Work from 12-5 today. I don't know if I'm ever going to stop dreading going to work...Yesterday wasn't that bad, but I guess I'm still stressed from that week from hell a few weeks back... I've run out of coping mechanisms for anything anymore. Need to stay under my rock.
-
Chris - my son was a disaster in terms of mess and organization. He did take responsibility seriously though. He married someone who is even less organized and more messy and it has turned him into a super organized person....there is hope.
-
My 55 year old son was always a mess.......brilliant but OMG, Mr. Clutter when he was in his teens, the room looked like the city dump....when my husband would get in one of his shitty moods, he would pass my sons room on the way down stairs with me behind him, and would say to me "YOU REALLY HAVE TO CLEAN THIS ROOM"'........I would say really, how about you tell him to do it. His answer....."well if he doesn't you should"....................this was my answer.........
I would grab the doorknob real tight........slam the F/N door closed and say "CLEANED"............ -
LOL! You ladies are a hoot!
Having had and raised five boys, I can say what a joy it was to be able to do just what you said duckyb1....slam the dang door and be done with it! Heehee
New here, but bc is our mutual bond! Surgery on the 28th for BMX....ugh. SO NOT looking forward to this. Also dealing w/staph infec. in my sinus.
LOL! But hey! I feel better coming here to vent and let'r rip! Have a great day ladies! (((hugs)))
-
Alive.....welcome........anytime......the ladies are great....your gonna love it here, but so sorry you came......it is a fun place to be......we bitch, laugh, cry, and hold each other tight when everyone else thinks we are ok, but we are not....again, welcome
-

I'm home everything is done...not moving another inch
Radiology called to tell me to start drinking the water (48 oz) 1 hour before the test and finish it in 20 minutes and she adds and don't go to the bathroom
The test is at 12:30pm then Bone Density
This will be interesting......I know it was my choice to have it .....lalalalalalalalallalaaaaaaaa
-
Hey Shelia.....fun thing is if your kept waiting and say...."heyI can't hold this anymore"........sometimes the nurse will say......."we'll go in and just let out a little bit"..........you look at her and think.........are you F/N kidding me........honey if you think once I start this flood it's gonna suddenly stop mid-stream, you must be nuts"........now at what point is enough, enough..........you tell me.....lol
-
I would sit in the office and chug the 48 ounces 20 minutess before the test. And I may still need to pack a diaper.
-
That's a great idea - Sheila, go get some Depends.
-
I will drink the first 16 oz at home second one walking there last one before i enter the office
This elderly is not ready for diapers yet.....I'm sure that day will arrive one day.....
Took half of Klonopine having a mild anxiety attack.......lalalalalalalalalalaaaaaaaaaaa
-
Take the other half!!!
Called my bank. DFS debit card can be used as a credit card. BUT! If I oopt out of overdraft protection, he (or whomever finds his card) can only access the amount in this account. So if ther's 50 in the account and someone tries to charge 60, it will be declined! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for bringing this up ladies!
-
You did good Linda........
God bless TOL I learned so much here..This is our educational thread also.........
(((DEB)))♥

DH is still hanging on, DD and I were told he is at end stage liver disease, he keeps thinking he is alright and will be coming home.
-
Hi everyone... Wrote this great long response hours ago and then pressed something on this iPad and lost everything. Grrrrrr. Have CRAFT disease, and now trying to catch up. Thanks for letting me vent, don't get me started!
Meece... TN, yea, that's another story. First go around, medical professional saw that and saw me dead. Had to go to other professionals for a possible recurrence, found out I was "misdiagnosed" and didn't need the chemo I had already started and don't do rads as originally suggested. Wish they had BRCA1/2 testing back then. Have it done after 2nd diagnosis, new BR CA so test warranted without insurance probs. Don't carry mutation, thank you God, so I know DD wont have to deal with that.
Sheila... Your diaper stories are so funny, thanks for the laughs!
Deb... How are you holding up? Sorry you're going thru this. -
(((((((Deb))))))
-
Chris, that is why I stopped working again. It's to hard to juggle the kids and work. I'm poor, and that's OK for now.
2nd, thank God the BRCA was negative!!
(((Deb)))
The diaper stuff was a joke, lol. Maybe you could just have them test the diaper?
-
Oh, Chris, I am so sorry you feel that way. I can feel your frustration. My stuff can seem small when I read what you have to deal with.
Welcome, Alive4five. Sheila you said she was brave to come here, but I say she was brave to get pregnant after boy number 3, and by getting pregnant a fifth time, well I think she's a super hero! (Good luck today, Sheila)
Linda, I guess that means he won't be getting overdraft protection? I'd rather my kids go through the embarrassment of being declined so they would learn to make sure they have what they need.
2ndTime, do you mean you really were not TN? I was told TN always needed chemo and rads.
Ducky, I can tell you are super excited about the mammo today. Maybe you can ask for extra views so you can prolong the fun.
Deb, is your DH in the rehab or regular hospital? Is DD still there with you? Hang in there, and when you have the time and energy please stop by!
-
That's correct Meece! When he needs money I can instantly transfer it to his account. When he gets a little more responsible, I can leave more in the account. He's not there yet.
I was thinking of you Meece. I finally planted aspargus! I have 1 spear so far. lol. DH and I are joking that we will have to split it!
-
Meece... I had a huge mass, about 5 cm, but, very slight invasive/infiltrating (actually don't remember stats any more). The pisser is I found the mass at least a year before but my PCP said I was too young for mammo and other stories. 1996 was a long time in terms of knowledge and technology. When it was discovered (found blood in my bra) they did the mammo. The local docs suggested the sandwich of 6 rounds of chemo, rads (again don't remember), then 6 rounds of chemo again. Saw an expert at a big cancer center who ran the slides again, also had me see another expert, both agreeing it was TN but they both recommended no chemo and they wouldn't have done chemo but said since I had completed 3 rounds of chemo, do the 4th and call it quits. They were right as TN didn't return. This time, totally different BR CA and caught so early totally different story.
