Thinking Out Loud.....

Hey, Joan!
-
Had to split it up...
Meece, hope you are having a great birthday trip! It looks to be typically cool…hope you brought something besides your flip flops…Diane, love your eclectic gift idea! I'll be heading to the Bay area for sure in May. More later...
So sorry about your construction disaster. How wonderful that you will be able to hug your little grandaughter soon.Sheila, you are awesome...congrats on your weight loss and your good med report. So happy for you! You too, Val...
Ducky, hoping for your continued health and great reports.
Linda, sorry for your pain....it's been a brutal winter for many. Hope you will get relief soon.
Val, that hair thing happens when I’m at the hair salon…I could search for it if the salon robe and wrap is on...LOLThis past week I discovered that some family treasures seemed to be missing. After days of looking, I tore the house apart today and found what was missing. I guess my senility is only going to get worse. Combo of AI, increased statins and age....there's no winning this battle.
Speaking of the drugs....now that it is winter, and the heat is always on, and it's dry, I look 10 years older unless I really paint on the makeup and fluff the hair.Sheila, you are awesome...congrats on your weight loss and your good med report. So happy for you! And thank for missing me ...
Ducky, hoping for your continued health and great reports.
Linda, sorry for your pain....it's been a brutal winter for many. Hope you will get relief soon.
Here's my weather report...Spring is really here... -
Chris, Hopefully working with the public will help with the anxiety. I know what you mean, as I feel the same way.
Glad your back Joan! I agree with the heat being on and drying out everything! Spring is going to arrive....right?
Val, I have never leased a car either. I don't know the pro's and con's of leasing. Hope the arm feels better!
Good Morning everyone!
-
Sheila, congrats on the good report. You deserve to act happy, we are happy for you!
Chris, you must have seen the "House" episode about the netti-pot. It scared me, but I use an irrigator and it really does improve QOL when it comes to sinuses.
Valjean, my ex loved the thought of having a new truck every three years so HE decided to lease. On our first lease he traded in his truck and we had very reasonable payments. Then the lease was up and it was time to start a new one. At that point we had no equity in the leased vehicle and nothing to trade in to make the payments lower. I found that leases end up costing you more but that is me. When I was purchasing my car on the 12th the saleman was asking if I'd llike to lease. I told him why I DON'T believe in leasing and he agreed, but he told me not to say it very loud because the dealership likes to push them. That tells me that they make more money for the dealership than a sale.
-
Joan, the Bay area was 66° on Friday and in the 70s yesterday.
We went to pick up a new fish for my birthday but couldn't find "the one". The owner of the dealership is heading to Japan on Wednesday and will be bring some more koi home at the end of the month. He took my information and said he will send me photos and I will get first pick! Wow!
We were tourists this weekend and went to The Mystery Spot, Winchester Mystery House and The quilt and Textile Museum. It was really fun.
Sandy, hope you had a quiet weekend. At least with one boy gone, the other can have knock-down, drag-outs with himself!
Diane, I like your birthday gift idea. Hope the party was fun.
Ducky and all the rest, hope you have agreat remainder of the weekend

very down, just wish I knew why...the wedding, and the flight is approaching rapidly......just wish I could get excited about the whole thing......this Grandson and I were so close, and I can't even get happy about this frigging wedding........his future wife is a sweetheart, and worships him....beautiful, a smart cookie, works in big Pharma......
My daughter that would go to the shore all the time with me, has dog problems....a beautiful older Boxer, who has a few health problems.....he can't come with us, and she has no one to watch him.....also with my grandson golfs, so now, summer will end early because of practice, matches, and tournaments......guess I am thinking way to far ahead.....;oh well, I do that all the time.
Having a lot of problems with GERD, and that is not helping either....so many Dr.s appts to make also, and I keep putting them off......such an asshole....gastro, derm, retina specialist, pulmonary dr........it is ridiculous........just don't give a shit anymore......tired of it all.........................oh well shit happens......... -
Meece, I'm glad you had good weather in the 70s! I have not been to either of those places - sounds great. Hope it was all good fun. I am kind of fascinated with the fish...how large an area do you have for the fish? And do you have to worry about predators? Garden ponds here are usually covered with fencing to protect fish.
Ducky, you sound bummed....
I think I mentioned I know how it feels when those precious summer memories are not going to be the same. Try not to project too far...I hope that things will evolve for you to have some memorable trips to the shore. My DD joined a pool club in NJ this year instead of renting a beach house by me. I couldn't even think about them not being here this summer. It still hurts; but they will come and stay with me a few week ends. Not the same, though. I am grateful for my grandchildren and their health, but sometimes I just wish I could freeze time and keep them close. They are growing and have less time to spend with me now. Is your DD going to the wedding? It looks like a mix of rain/snow for tomorrow...and turning cold later. I found snow drops blooming in my yard today that I have never seen before. And a pot that I put out under the deck has healthy tulip leaves. There's hope!

Yes Joan she is.....it will be the whole family....we have to fly to Chicago....my grandson lives there....went there around 3 years after college.....had a job here, but when his contract was up there was nothing in Philly office, so he decided to go to Chicago.....he has soared to the top with JP MOrgan Chase, but I hate the fact he is there.........his future wife lives there too......they had considered coming here for the wedding, but decided since her family was bigger then ours, we got the expense.......but here it would have been much cheaper for him, for a top shelf affair....one of my daughers works for Drexelbrook, which is a very classy and gorgeous place....she gets a huge discount, and many extra's.....her daughter, and another grandaughter were married there, and it was amazing....oh well.
Its a shame your daughter decided to join a pool, but I guess she figures less traveling, and the kids still get the water.........been there, done that, but with a grandmother with a shore home , and a beach, I would take the latter....... there too, when kids get older they want to spend time with their friends, and friends go to the Swim Club, as we all have done here in the Phill[y suburbs.....then there is the sports too, which run all summer, and weekends.....again oh well...
Once my house does not get used more then it is now (which is not that often), I will sell it......doesn't pay to keep it, and pay taxes, and the maintenance when it does not get used.......I won't go down alone, and as you know my husband has been dead for almost 22 years.....we went down every weekend, summer and winter, and long weekends in he summer....Friday to Monday night.....god I miss that man.....;nothing has been the same since,,,and the lonliness can kill you......again oh well.
Take care Joan, and have a good rest of the day.....hugs. -
Ducky I hate that you can't go where you love, me personally don't understand, if you have a place down the shore, why aren't you going....I love to get the F away from here, lol....hang in there and try to look towards the end, the wedding will be awesome and you will be catered to...if not else cause you are the grandmother.....you deserve it...take pills, medication, whatever you need to go...make those appts...
Thanks Shiela again.....glad all is well and I read cause I couldn't find anything on TV.
Chris, can't imagine what is like being your mom, and you are doing the best that you can, no worries....
Yes Michael is in FLA and he should have listened to me when I told him to take pants, he took 1 pair, the pool in the house is not heated, he said 480.00 for what, really, they think I don't know what i am talking about, guess what, I do, lol....yea the other one is here Meece and we aren't talking, or rather i am not talking to him...the he can't keep his hands to himself thing....did my state income tax, getting 20.00 back, whoa....SNOW tomorrow, really.....Michael is laughing cause we are getting snow....it is in the 70's during the day and the 50's at night in FLA....that is cold. Guess I will cook something for Geo, told him I was cooking dinner, he said, what, really wtf then cook for yourself, which is what he had to do yesterday, cause I made myself eggs.....neck is hurting, taking pain meds, just sitting in bed doing nothing...
Joan, Val and all others, big HUGS....
-
Hey Sandy.....doing the same thing as you except Im sitting in the recliner....want to really laugh ...I'm watching Golf....trying to get the hang of it, since my Grandson plays Varsity golf now.....He is very good...just wish he could realize that....gets discouraged when he misses shots...I tell 'him everyday isn't always going to be perfect...he smiles....love the kid.....so respectful.....runs up the steps from playing his video's (weekends only), to give me a kiss, when I come in the door, and this is all the time, and never lets me leave without another one.......an honor student, and just an all around great kid, who absolutely adores his Mom....I can't believe he is going to be a sophomore next yea........
I have another gradaughter graduating from Penncrest Hight School, and a grandson graduating from Franklin and Marshall......life is good.....
Thought about you the other day.......bought 2 pair of pants from Macy's online for the wedding....and 3 pairs of shoes.....I absolutely hate buying clothes.......if I was a size 6 I would love it..........my 44 year old daughter is a size 4 in pants, and needs a 2.....I told her the other day....you look like death......she laughs.......hard working, 5 days a week, and has the house, kids, ''homework, dinners, shopping, and also fixing her other house which she is trying to sell...completely renovated....in Drexel Hill....all she wants is what she needs to get rid of it..........she rented it to people who destroyed it, and my son-in-law redid the entire house.....gorgeous....the rug guys are coming Thursday.....5 bedrooms, 2 baths, family room, fire place, living room, dining room, eat in kitchen, deck, big fenced backyard, 2 car garage, and landscaped beautifully.....all brick.....she could not sell it when she moved, so she rented it........pigs, absolute pigs......oh well...
Hope your feeling better.......my son just got back from Disneyworld, but he goes there like we go to the Mall.......4 times a year......has a time share place....
Guess I better STFU, I have talked long enough.
Sandy, I just can't go down the shore alone......it sucks......unlike you, I live alone, and there is no more to do down there, then up here......God I miss the days when things were fun............and I will enjoy the wedding, just not all the bullshit that goes along with getting there......I have no packed shit in years..........I kept clothes down the shore, and up here, so all I took was myself. Living down there was just like here...........every convenience you can name.....it was home away from home......love it....hugs dear... -
Just checking in, eyes watering, nose running, neck hurting....taking the meds....didn't take a nap, will lay down soon....I have chemo on wednesday, but dumb ass that I am I went on their site and picked to work that day, thinking I picked Tuesday, so will probably work 11 - 3 and move chemo to thursday if possible....will call tomorrow....
ducky, hate golf, watched some of the phillies, hoping to see my kids, didn't so changed the channel, lol...I so miss going to DW, as I just said on another site, that is what sucks with this disease, I so miss going on vacation there....Well if you want to go down the shore and want company just let me know I will go with you, wish we all lived closer cause we could have a hell of a weekend pj party there....(don't you like me inviting people to your house)....it is still there and you don't know what will happen from day to day.....anyway can't wait to see the pix from the wedding..
Off to lay down no nap today!!!
Have a good night all!!
-
Sandy, YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!
-
Ducky - I hope once your flight is over, you can relax and enjoy the wedding and being with your family. ((((((Ducky))))))
Val - sorry about the carpal tunnel - sounds like it hurts so much.
Re: leased cars- be careful of maximum mileage - if you go over, they make you pay extra - another way they can get you. Even if I usually drove less than the maximum, I would be afraid if I got a lease, that would be the year I ended up driving more.
Joan- I think it's schedule II and benzodiazepines (of schedule IV) that NY says have to be filled within 30 days...it's a NY law - and they have singled out the benzos for special treatment - probably to try to curtail abuse - so things end up being difficult for lawful people... I was going to say - "That's not true!" - then I realized it might be a state law...
Hope you can straighten out work and chemo with no problems, Sandy.
Pigs who rented this house trashed it too - oh wait - those weren't renters - that's my family! Ducky, sorry your DD's house got trashed - hope she can sell it easily and gets more than she expects for it.
Meece - I used to watch House - I don't remember the amoeba episode...now I want to find the episode and watch it.
Yeah- I think if I use the sinus irrigator, I will boil water and let it cool...after reading about the neti pot deaths, now I'm afraid of amoebas...lol. and I think my Dr. is full of crap that since the city water is chlorinated, it's okay. The Louisiana person (people?) had amoebas in the home water supply - city water tested negative. But that's when they tested it - amoebas could have been there previously. Anyhow- I will boil their single-celled asses. (Though, to be fair, they really don't want to eat your brain - it's just if you squirt them up there, they will.)
((((((TOL)))))))
-
Chris, LOL about your "tenants"...so true though!
What is your work schedule for this week? Do your kids have a spring break? (seems like winter break just ended).
Sandy, I hope you can change your chemo day so you can get in a day of work. Nice that you are planning a party at ducky's place...I'll driveDucky, my DD works for NBC cable sales, and they have cut bonuses...so, she says she can't afford to rent out here. I am not convinced that the economy is improving yet
My DS moved in Chiago because his job in NY ended...I hate that he is there...it's been difficult. He's coming for Easter...staying with old gf.
My niece had her wedding in a small elegant mini-mansion in N Chicago. We all traveled and stayed in hotels and had a great time. YOU will have a great time and you will be glad you went.
Falling asleep...had some kind of bug today...but it seems to be better...easy week ahead with no classes. Going to CT on Tuesday to teach my Gs's 3rd grade class about rocks and minerals. I'm bringing goody bags for the kids.Watch out for the snow! Nite everyone, wherever you are!

Thanks for your responses about leasing.
See, I don't really want to lease, DH does. My 2006 Trailblazer only has 54,155 miles or close to that on it & will be paid for in July. I love it & don't want to get rid of it. DH drives a Chevy S-10 which has a touch over 200,00 miles on it & he just did some transmission work on it so we don't know how much more we will get out of it. I have my Silverado truck with 144,000 miles that we drive once in a while & use to haul large items & wood. (I loved driving that!) All of our running around is done in the S-10 cos that gets pretty decent gas mileage due to it's size & we don't want to add miles to my car. Any-hoo, I was planning on keeping Trlblz, getting rid of both trucks & getting DH a small truck again. HE wants to sell MY car & buy himself a truck & lease me an Acadia/Traverse/Equinox. I've never liked the idea of leasing - renting a car?? And he throws at me some sort of problem that goes wrong with the Trailblazer somewhere around 50-100,000 miles that is costly to repair. (don't ask me what it is, I don't remember that crap!) And, if we lease, he says, it's under warranty & if we have a problem, it's their problem.
It is not what I had planned. Why does he have to throw a wrench in my plans??!!
I wouldn't be too concerned about miles that I would put on a lease. I only put around 6,000-6,500 miles a year on a car - I don't work outside the home, in fact, I'm home most days as it is. Our long trips are north to visit the grand-kids, that's where the majority of the miles come from.
Meecie, I never thought about building up equity in a lease. Okay. How do they figure that?? I see I have some research to do. I just thought when you turned in your leased car for another, that was the downpayment. I persoanlly always thought leasing was a rip off because they turn around & sell it after it's turned in & esp someone like me who puts low miles on a car, they're going to get good money for it.
I don't wanna do it!!!!!!!!
You guys make me laugh - Chris, your house being trashed by renters, Oh, it's your family!!
Yes, this crappy carpal tunnel sucks, and it's getting worse & I don't want to say anything to the Onc about it next week, & I'm not going to unless I'm asked directly. So, there --- I feel better!
Sandy, Oh, yeah, we could have us a good-ole-time. All of us together for a pj par-tay!! Yee-haw!! (Seriously, I hope you are feeling better.)
ducky, my grandparents had a beautiful cottage that my Grandfather had built on a lake. I loved going there when I was a kid. My Grandpa had painted the dock, which ended as a big circle, colors of the rainbow & I would sit there for hours reading or he would fish with me.... oh, the days....... Anyway, my Grandma got so tired of going up there because all she did was work all the time she was there. She ended up hating it. And so they sold it. I used to go to my Aunt's cottage which was right next door & stare at it remembering all the fun I had there as a child & almost cry...

Valjean, you said it, to lease is like renting. No equity because you don't own it. The second truck we leased was a lemon and although we did not have to pay for the repair (that never solved the problem) we spent many days traveling 45 miles one way to take the truck to the dealership and hanging around the town until they finished it, or not...The final solution was to allow us to end the lease early as long as we leased another truck from them. I will bet the truck was in the shop over 45 days in all before we were allowed out of it.
My former SIL leased a car and she was a higher mileage driver than she told them. So about 6 months before the lease was up she was out of miles so she partked it in the garage for those months. Paying the monthly lease the whole time.
-
Meece - sounds like you had a fun weekend!
Valjean - I also made the mistake of leasing once. When you return it, not only do you have nothing, but they charge you for normal wear and tear. I definitely lost money.
Joan - are you feeling better?
Well I went to the big party - usual mix of snobs and normal people. Some interesting experiences though.
-
LOL Chris!!! Boil there asses!!
Hello everyone!
-
Chris....peeing my pants....read the neti pot thing to, loved the damn thing, but hated the prep once I read about those little bastards, so you go ahead and boil their asses...lol
Just got bad news...of course I am a crape hanger and always think the worst....my 44 year old daughter just got a call back from her Friday mammogram.....WTF........I am so scared for her.......she will go at 9:45 tomorrow....and will tell her as soon as they are finished.......conversation went like this.........Nikki, you had a mammo, on Friday?.....yes....said she almost threw up when they asked that........then said........the Dr. sees calcifications, and since this is the first time that showed up, we want to have a redo, and a possible ultrasound......she is acting like the brave little soldier, but I know she is scared to death....but why would she not be.........Good God, does it ever end.............please Lord, not her.... -
Ducky...My thoughts are with you......♥
I read all the posts and know what you're doing........and what you're up to
{{{♥TOL♥}}}
BBL.......
-
Thanks Sheila......I can't believe this is happening........2 weeks ago another daughter (mother of the groom), found a lump.....did not tell me till yesterday........she went to my BS, and he did an aspiration, and it was clean.........They all said after my diagnosis the girls did not have to have genetic testing.......WTF......now this........
-
Oh crap Ducky!! I feel so sorry for you both! TRY and look on the bright side, if it is cancer, it will be caught early. I'm glad she is taking care of herself. Again, so sorry!
-
Ducky...what i know is that if the mother is DX after menopause......they are not that kind of high risk..
They say if you were 45 your daughter should have her first Mammo 10 years earlier like when she is 35.......
I do understand your worries believe me I do........
Waiting for B9 results
Big hugs from me to you...♥♥♥♥♥
-
Thanks Sheila........your the best........hugs.
