Happy news, Kam! I'm celebrating with you. Love, love, love getting good news!

Athena, can certainly understand the stress you are under and wish I could think of something that could help alleviate even the tiniest bit of your stress! I'm under a bit if stress here though nothing like yours, visiting my mom and her husband down in a very conservative area of Florida. He has been very sick and my mom has a hard time taking care of herself, much less him. The stress you ask? He's an Obama hater and even though he knows where I stand, continues to spout his hateful remarks. It's all I can do to keep my mouth shut. If I didn't love my mom so much ..... Grrr .... I'd be roaring!

GG, my mom has macular degeneration and gets injections in her eyes. Seems to help but nobody, and I mean nobody, comes near my eyeball with a needle! She's had it for a really long time and it changed in both eyes from dry to wet (or wet to dry?) and she was able to get the injections. She's 82 and uses magnifiers but is able to drive and although she has other health issues, the MD is not the most worrisome. Hooe you get good info from the docs.

Miss you all but Internet is very sporadic where I am, back in the 11th.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Glenna.  It would have changed from dry to wet - wet is the worst stage and according to what I've read, all start dry.  He goes to see the specialist next week, so then we'll see next steps.  I ordered him the recommended vitamins today, so as soon as they come he'll start taking 'em.  He's purchased a couple pair of sunglasses and I'll probably buy him one or two more, so that there is a pair no matter where he is.

The sale of our house hasn't fallen through yet, though me and my pessimism still has it going belly up at any moment Laughing.  The appraisal is this Friday.  There were a couple items from the inspection, so we're in the middle of negotiations for that - we've offered cash, as there is a bit of a time crunch - but at the same time hubby says he's going to start working on them tomorrow - so... well, we'll see.

Athena - best of luck for your job interview.  I'm certain you'll be stunning.  In regards to the way you present yourself - as the others say, I'd hold back on the warts.  The old putting your best foot forward (or paw, in your case) come to mind.  Warts are best discovered slowly.  When you stick 'em out there up front, people have a tendency to think there are a whole lot more in hiding Cry

OK.  Time for me to try to get some sleep - I'm awfully edgy and haven't been able to wind down.  I think I ate poorly today.  Not good for me food makes me tense.

Surprise -I left my posting up. Surprised (Progress)

Good Morning, dear threadmates. Thank you all for your kind words and advice. My profile is nice and sanitized, and the day of reckoning for interviews has arrived. What will be will be, I will probably meet someone in the flesh and not online, and I just have to hope that things will go well today.

Glenna, visiting family can be stressful in the best of times - hope it ends soon for you!

GG - fingers crossed that things go well with your house.

Interviews for me end at around 4 pm Eastern. Bartender and everyone, join me for a G&T.

    Athena, knock 'em dead!!

Meanwhile, back in Jersey, never thanked Sun for kind words about MIL.  The doctor thought she'd come home today, but then last night, she needed help breathing with a machine that's called a B-Pack, I think.  I don't know if she'll get home today.  DH is running over to her house to arrange for a hospital bed in case.  I have a bad feeling which I hope is wrong.  i know she's 98 etc., but you always want a little more time.  My DH is in CA and trying to get in to see her grandmother without losing her job or costing a fortune.  Flights are so expensive.

    Anyway, be in touch.

Sandy and Athena, sending good wishes to both of you.

Lindasa, your instincts regarding what was being done to the Postal Service are spot on.

Athena - I have a suspicion you will be well-dressed, both figuratively and literally, for you interview today.  Maybe you glide through it with peace and confidence. xxo

I love the graphics being posted.  Spirit lifting!

Glenna - sorry you have to live full time in freeper land down there in Florida.  What is the origin of the hate you have to hear?

I have found us a cute mascot for the dreaded Pinktober ...

A pink albino bottlenose dolphin. The mammal is entirely pink from tip to tail and has reddish eyes indicating it's albinism. The skin appears smooth, glossy pink and without flaws. The dolphin has been spotted swimming in Lake Calcasieu in Louisiana. Please Share

It's a pink albino dolphin found in Louisiana.  Love dolphins!

Interviews over. But lo and behold, there is a second round for which I may or may not qualify. I will know more in a few days. Today's interviews went very well, but they have their pick of candidates. So, for now, blah.

Wish I could go on a weekend shopping spree in NYC to drown my sorrows and uncertainties in clothes. For now, my weekend is looking like this:

Yikes!  There's a lot to catch up on here.

I will happily adopt a pink dolphin as my personal breast cancer mascot.  My daughter and I swam with dolphins once in the Bahamas - they would dive down when I did, and swim where I swam, and I could watch them watching me under water.  It was one of the high points in my life.  So yes, it's pink dolphins for me!

Sorry you have to wait for a second round of interviews, Athena.  Why are they torturing you in this way??  At any rate, all digits crossed for excellent news.  Not quite as excellent as our Kam's, but you know.  ;-)

Back when I was fully a believer, I used to pray for those I loved, thinking of each one in turn and holding them up to God.  I still pray for each of us here, especially the ladies on this thread.  You are a godsend (says the semi-non-believer!).

I do have good news - my sister and I have been looking for a farm to rent so we can live with our horses.  The success of our horsie ventures depended on:  1) Finding a farm to rent that's within our means; 2) Renting out our house to good people; 3) Finding a 3-horse trailer that's also within our limited and rapidly shrinking means; 4) Selling Franz and buying a truck big enough to pull said horse trailer.  And we have to have all of these things by April 1.

My daughter's riding instructor contacted me because she heard we were looking for a horse trailer.  She has a relatively new 4-horse trailer for sale that's admittedly beyond our means BUT WAIT - she's also looking for a house to rent!  We offered reduced rent in exchange for the trailer; the differential between gross and net rent goes toward the balance.  She moves in between April 1 - May 1.  So, that's #2 and #3 solved.  But now we don't have a place to live come May 1.

This week we found a farmhouse to rent.  It's a tenant house on a 76 acre horse farm.  We can keep our horses there, take care of them ourselves, have full access to the farm and facilities, and live with our horsies!  It's a very cute house - not huge but doable.  And did I mention we get to live with our horsies??  We go tomorrow to sign the lease and we have an April 1 move-in date.

Soooo....anybody want to buy a byoootiful BMW convertible?  ;-)

    E

Athena, glad the interview went well.  Bummer you have to go through the stress of a second one.  Hope it's soon and hope that they do the logical thing and officially hire you!  And until the official bartender drops in, here's one for you:

And p.s. you don't want to do a shopping spree in NYC this weekend.....they're expecting a major storm Frown

Enjoyful......wow, sounds like everything is falling into place.  What a cool journey you are on.  How exciting for you to be able to live with your horse.  Good luck with all the details and work between now and then (and good luck selling the BMW!)

Enjoyful - congratulations  - this new phase of LIVING WITH YOUR GORGEOUS HORSE sounds fantastic - WOW!  Exciting - so glad you did this for yourself - just wonderful!

Yup, snow, we're talking Real Snow now.  First predicition was 6 to 10 inches, now it's up to 2 feet.  My activity will remain the same - inside, reading, watercolor painting, reading, napping, oh, my do I LOVE naps...me 'n Winston Churchill.

Athena - relax - yeah, right !  Interviews are so damn stressful, especially when you've been doing the job.  Maybe the company/organization HAS to go thru this process for Personnel reasons? And can't just HIRE without opening up the process - so, I figure all the other interviewees are wasting their time...you could always shop online???? Wink

Special props go out to HL for her support and time, and for the use of her husband.  ;-)  He is an invaluable source of all things mechanical, and the two of them together make "rational" look like an understatement.  They keep me tethered to the ground when I go all "ohlooka$50,000TRUCK!  Isn't it prettttyyyy!"

    Athena - good luck.

E - what GREAT news.  So many things fell right into line for you.  Enjoy your horsies!!!

Our house selling saga is in continuation at the moment.  The appraisal is tomorrow, we're waiting for the buyer's counter to our counter re: the inspection, and I'm a nervous wreck wondering if we should even sell the house now, or hold out for a few more years.  Hubby has not been successful at calming me down for any reasonable length of time.  :(

    GG -

Quick!  To the medicinal wine!  You have BIG THINGS up in the air so it'll be tough to calm down until they're resolved.  Wine, woman!

I agree. It should be Friday.

GG-Sorry to hear about your husband's macular degeneration. It sounds like it was caught early. Here's hoping that it can be slowed down. If your house is meant to sell now-it will sell. If it isn't, it won't. How's that for calming words from someone who's not right in the middle of it?Smile Easier said than done, I know.

E-So glad that everything seems to be falling in place for you and your horsie boy. Sounds like a dream come true.

Athena-one hurdle jumped, now on to the next. I'm sure you'll do fine.

Sunny and around 40 here in the Seattle area. I don't think we are going to get any snow this year. I like at least one round of snow, preferably on a weekend when I don't have to be anywhere so I can just enjoy it and not worry about driving around in it.

Kam-I think I congratulated you on your good news, but in case I didn't-congratulations!

    Mary

That has to be the blessings of God! I'm so happy for you and your horsies!!!

Athena~I don't know if you believe in prayer, but I've been praying about your job.

    Blessings

Oh what a day, but all disturbance erased when I heard E's great news.  The universe just dropped everything fairly neatly into place.  The universe can do that..........so of course, I'm looking for the same results soon for Athena.

Raining here but I don't really care much.  I'm about ready to jump into pj's and have a relaxing night whether I deserve it or not.

Paula.....glad you are hanging in there.  Hope #4 is a bit more gentle with you.  I'll put that in the universe tonight.
