If I were a zebra, my stripes would be falling off from the stress at the moment. Nerve-wracking week will get even more so tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a better time.

    Yes.

Especially tomorrow, between 10 am E and 3.30pm Eastern, and decisions made based on what occurs during those times. Decisions which could take either days or weeks.

Wow, Kam, I'm impressed you could REMEMBER all that stuff from reading it.  Still, I'm with all who say "scar tissue" or something else very b-o-r-i-n-g.

Everything wonderfully boring here, we're all trying to come up with a new word instead of "retired."  I'm voting for PlayTime. Or Recess 24/7. Some of the suggestions have been funny -

    Happy today all...

Even though as HL said, the news is provisional.....it does sound good Kam, and I'm liking your US tech and Radiologist for giving you a large ledge to stand on while you wait for your results.  My take is.....if they thought there was much of a chance for negative news they would not have been quite so candid.  Still though.....I'm sure you and everyone here will be much more content to get the FA sign.

From the sound of this.....I guess the rt. wing is hoping mad.  Sigh!!!!!! It will always amaze me that such common sense inspires such vehemence, from anyone.  I am thinking of the dad who spoke in Newtown saying that the need to own guns ( meaning assault weapons ) was coming second to his son's right to the life he lost that day.

It should not be hard to recognize that we are all in the same space, time and dimention here and everyone will suffer in some way if we don't learn how to "walk" a mile in each other's shoes.

Hubby was just diagnosed with intermediate macular degeneration.  Next step is to a specialist.  I'm starting my internet hunt for information.

Two things that are making me unhappy with the Obama administration today:

--the nomination of a former oil executive for the Interior secretary position.

--the feds just gave Florida the green light to essentially privatize Medicaid in their state, transferring about 3 million people to private hands where they are at the mercy of profiteers whose only penalty for dropping people will be a ridiculous $500,000 slap on the wrist. Florida says the move saves the state money. Maybe if they had a state income tax they could pay.... this is Tea Party medicine.

GG....I too am so sorry to hear that.  I hope between your search and the specialist something of value can be accomplished, even if only something to slow the process way down.

GG - is it wet or dry?  I've been reading some about AMD and daily aspirin is contraindicated!! (just in case he didn't know this).  Sorry to hear this.  Our eyesight is a precious thing.  My brother also has MD, but honestly, I'm not sure what type.  He doesn't mention it much.

Jackie - love your "sitting on the ledge" waiting analogy...that's exactly what it feels like, but I feel so much better than I did all weekend than yesterday. Laughing

The only reason I could see Obama nominating a former oil executive is to deal with all of these silly oil leases on federal land.  The industry buys them up and then holds on to them for decades waiting for the price of oil to rise.  I know Obama is cognizant of this as he brought it up during the 2nd debate when his opponent was accusing him of putting up less leases on federal land.    It is a total loser for the government, so he was working in "our" interest, not for the oil companies.  I think they're doing quite well without more taxpayer help.   Also, it's Obama's call on policy, so I'm sure this guy will have guidelines.

Edited to add..maybe it fits in with his "Team of Rivals" concept.  I haven't been following the news so much lately, so just a guess.

Kam - we don't know much yet, but from what I've read, wet is always advanced.  Since his is intermediate, my assumption would be that it is dry.  He hasn't lost any eyesight yet, but I've commented to him for a long time that his light requirement for seeing is much more than mine.  I've (for years now) led him around in dark rooms, as I can see things that he cannot.  Apparently one of the effects of AMD (age related macular degeneration) is that you need more light to see by.  I just ordered him some vitamins that are supposed to help slow the process.  I also read about the aspirin thing, so quit giving him his previously daily baby aspirin (he's only been taking them for a couple of months, so I doubt that caused anything - but still....).  Though I'll admit that I'd rather have him blind and alive than dead of a heart attack, but everything in life is a trade-off, and he has to make his decisions once he gets more concrete information from the specialists.

Kam, I hope you get the all clear soon.

Athena, she wasn't an oil executive. She was an engineer straight out of college. Research her work in conservation since then.

I've been battling the flu so unable to comment much, but following as much as possible. Yes I had the shot. This is day 11. I hope you all stay safe from this thing.

She was both - or all three. A Mobil Oil executive, an engineer and an outdoor enthusiast. We shall see. Too blinded by stress right now.

    gardengumby,

Here are links to research I have done.  I have mild dry macular degeneration.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=zeaxanthin%20macular%20degeneration

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=lutien%20zeaxanthin%20macular%20degeneration

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=yellow%20eyeglass%20lenses%20macular%20degeneration

I took my computer glasses to my eye doctor and had them tinted yellow.  I always wear them when working on the computer because the monitor emit strong blue light which is strongly linked to macular degeneration.  The other sources of blue light are fluorescent lights and the sun. Yellow lenses block blue light and reduce glare.

Here is the best source for zeaxanthin.  http://www.zeavision.com/zeaxanthin.html  You can get lutien at any health food store.

I was diagnosed 3 years ago and got none of this information from my doctor.  I had to do all the research on my own.  My doctor recommended eye vitamins but the amount of zinc in them, IMO, is way too high.  In three years, my macular degeneration has remained stable.

Best wishes to your husband and good luck with your research.

RR - you had the vaccine and still have the flu?  That's not good.  I had heard that this year's vaccine was well matched to the circulating virus.  Take care of yourself.  Influenza is really a serious illness.

Athena - will this stress go away once you get through tomorrow?  i.e. will you get your stripes back?

GG - well, as you might or might not know, according to Dr. Esselstyn (Clintons' doctor), heart disease is reversible with diet.  I'm starting to think about this aspect of my health and making some minor corrections, though I will admit, getting to the perfect diet quickly is not necessarily easy...I'm almost there after 2 months.

    Ha, ha, Linda.

The picture in my mind's eye is me as a prisoner holding a pen between my toes and drawing up tally marks - except I don't know if "the day" will be a good one or a bad one.

Kam, you know today for sure about the lump?
