Kam
well, I was close: SULTAN FINNVIK is the one I bought. And I use a Costco memory foam topper, and I LOVE it. There are more expensive mattresses at Ikea, but this one is fine for me. The metal ( neat, with kinda "hearts" on the back) daybed I bought isn't shown anymore, but the length of the back, about 85 x 40 fit in my car as described above. And the mattress rolled up easily. GOOD LUCK.
Also, I'm voting for scar tissue. Physiotherapist, your GP or PCP, or whatever our general docs are called can tell you.
-
Kam, sending good vibes your way!
Alexandria, loved the Jon Stewart clip. Especially all the Fox clips and his reaction!
Yorkiemom, gotta love Big Dawg!
Jackie, loved your post...."attitude of gratitude."
Sunflowers, would love to hear what a typical day looks like for you vis a vis what you eat for each meal.....do you eat 3 meals a day or several small ones? It really sounds like your "diet" works for you. Would love to have my knee stop crunching anytime I go up steps (I know you mentioned accupuncture for that, but that freaks me out a little.... : )
-
Kam-I'm voting for scar tissue as well. I think I told you that similar happened to my SIL and it was scar tissue.
I fell down at work the other day, on the playground, and skinned both my knees. I'm pretty sure it was Obama's fault.

I love the Daily Beast's reporting on the NRA. Another good article........
"Strangest NRA Story Yet"
"One of the sure markers of the paranoid mind is the urge to keep lists. In particular, lists of enemies, subversives, no-goodniks; the pestilential nuisances.......... It virtually goes without saying that the keepers of such lists are always the bullies who survive by fomenting hatred and making sure that their constituents stay in a state of constant agitation. And so it was no surprise to learn over the weekend, via Josh Marshall, that the National Rifle Association has a little list of 497 people and organizations who are in some way, shape, or form anti-gun. It makes for hilarious reading, although it’s sort of frightening to think about the demented minds of the people who assembled it.................."
"..........................The good news is that paranoid psychotics usually do themselves in. McCarthy and Nixon certainly did. I know everyone keeps talking about how powerful the NRA is, and that’s true. But the more they’re in the spotlight, the worse they look. Americans get it......."

Loonies.

Belinda - OMG, that Obama question - priceless. Sun - I have a frame, I might even keep my boxspring, just want a new mattress...queen. At one time I had a topper....not sure what size, but those are quite expensive, so I hope it is a queen (memory foam, bought at Costco). If all else fails, I can always order foam from my favorite Seattle foam shop on Roosevelt. They will mail. I have slept on 2 of these and never complained. Mary - I think in my mind, I know it is something else, but frankly, I've never "felt" cancer. I saw it on my mother's chest wall though (stage iv), when I was 15. It was a bunch of little lumps. I took a glance at my sonographs and memorized them. My thing seemed well defined with hyperechogenicty, which would indicate not cancer.

-
Horrible story, but statistically, guns within the context of domestic violence is more likely to kill a women than a woman using a gun warding off an intruder. This is one of the saddest cases I've read about.
-
Belinda, I'm a "grazer" - eat little, often. Have to wait about an hour after I take may my morning Thyroid meds, then have protein: usually scrambled eggs: 1 yolk, 3 whites), or sometimes hot oatmeal ( again from health food store)later some raw almonds & a few prunes, lunch a salad with maybe canned salmon or sardines, dinner is usually protein ( chicken, fish, organic/hormone free beef from health food store) - as I said, food just isn't an important factor for me, I don't use it for socializing, or entertainment - and I KNOW this is not a "usual" approach, it just works for me. I am much more concerned with being pain free & feeling good than I am with taste sensations. Make teapots full of tea every day - some green, black, flavor with cinnamon, cardamon, ginger, and use Stevia drops flavored with Vanilla. Stopped the Agave when reading some negatives about it. Use honey sometimes. I'm borderline diabetic, so cutting out high glycemic carbs & being gluten free has really made a positive difference. I don't often go to restaurants, and that's just another choice. Not a deprivation for me at all, a choice. My friends get together and paint, I help friends make jewelry, activities, lectures at libraries, museums, hiking, that kinda stuff.
The acupuncture "needles" are not like any other "needles" you've known - they are very, ery , very thinkl almost like a strand ofhair made out of metal. It's made the most difference for me, that and monthly massage by a local woman trained by Tracy Walton in Boston, MA.
-
Kam - sorry I missed your post - the memory foam topper at Costoc is fantastic, thick, and the cheapest too. Natch. I think the twin was about $75 when I bought it 6 years ago - still fine. Comes all squnched down, and you have to unflod it & let it "air" so it fills up and gets fluffy. Can't imagine sleeping without it now...Ikea mattress can be used on box spring, I've just also had a wood frame bed with slats, Charles Webb, so sorry they went out of business, great Boston furniture maker from long ago. ( 1978)

I just read about another school shooting -- this time in Oklahoma.

-
yeah....and the real enemies, according to the NRA, are the Anti-Defamation League, the American Academy of Pediatrics, religious groups, the YWCA and the National SAFE KIDS Foundation (see previous page). Topsy turvy world we live in.
-
I'm crying my eyes out!
-
First of all, I must tell you all that I had picked the winning team as the game started. I just thought the Ravens uniforms were more "flattering".
Sunflowers...I too am an acupuncture junkie. Love it! I am trying to convince my acupuncturist to do house calls.
I also prefer to have several small meals or snacks during the day. I find it uncomfortable when I work and have to do all my eating at one sitting now. We don't eat out much, and when we do, I find a nutritional chart and make my food choices before we go. -
Sunflowers, thanks so much for sharing your approach. I appreciate it!
-
-
oh, blue, that's so sweet - I'm forcing myself to think the dog ran away, and the people gave up looking for her - can't bear to think someone could leave a dog because she was blind...wasn't it the sweetest near the end where she was waggling her tail, so, so sweet....
-
The Daily Mail (otherwise a rag, but it is redeeming itself briefly here), a lioness at a zoo appears to mirror the movements of a little boy:

From -
Blue, I saw that before and it was still hard not to tear up. People can be so heartless and cruel all in addition to not having their animals spayed or neutered. Like Sun, seeing the wag of a grateful, happy tail helped me not think about many of the previous pictures.
As far as the list of those unsympathetic to the NRA --- a very long list and so many having things to do directly with children or the victims -- whatever age -- of people who should not have guns in their hands. Kam, that link you provided just brought it all home. People, even when they have had a good record about their weapons do not always stay reliable and trustworthy.

NBC News | Aired on February 04, 2013Boy freed, kidnapper dead after standoff ends
Federal and Alabama law enforcement officials discuss cite deteriorating negotiations and the decision to storm the bunker and rescue the 5 year-old boy being held in an underground bunker.
Found this just now --- thank goodness the little boy is safe and is being treated at a local hospital. Apparently the suspect was showing signs of the situation deteriorating and a decision was made to storm the bunker and get the little boy.

Both the story about the child's abductor and the story about the man who shot the sniper at a Texas range describe men with good military recods. How very sad. America could also diminish violence at home if it held back on imperial aggression abroad. I sound like an old time Marxist saying this, but I think it's true. We are sending out normal boys and bringing back traumatized men.
-
Yes, it's just wonderful that child was saved! The baby has Asperger's and I just can't imagine the horror he went through. But he's in the arms of his parents tonight and hopefully will be alright long term.

Birads 4, "suspicious"...."solid mass on the chest wall." That's all I know and the MO knows. Biopsy tomorrow. My MO did say she's never seen a recurrence on the chest wall in the clean breast. I guess that is some consolation. I'm scared to death.
-
Kam, I'm so sorry. Hold tight, you will get through this.
-
Oh, Kam. Hang in there, hon. Let's hope for a very boring and benign biopsy! We will all be with you in spirit. Hugs and lots of good wishes to you!
-
All i gotta say, if this is cancer, it is MF fast grower...4 cm.
-
Oh Kammy....
Take your biggest handbag tomorrow because we're coming with you but we will need the space.
-
(((((Kam)))))
-
Kam -- Hang in there, honey. You know that Birads 4 simply means "suspicious abnormality", indicating a biopsy is necessary to RULE OUT the nasty C. We'll all be jumping in the bag with you and keeping our digits crossed for good results.
