I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange

I know absolutely nothing about fashion, though I did ok through school.  When you are in a class of 34, realistically  no one is going to do to well with it.  I was not in a large school -- none of the other three classes were much bigger than my graduating class.  This is one area in which I definitely stayed rather retarded. 

I think I'd find at least a bit more enjoyment if all those gals didn't look like they were about to shuffle off to the big run-way in the sky from what does most assuredely look like annorexia.  I have to admit that I had a pretty thinish look in my young years.  5"8' and no meat to be found anywhere.  I was not a big eater and found eating took a lot of precious time away from my other activites of riding a bike, running all over town, doing a hula-hoop, and spending hours at the roller skating rink.  The fact was I was seldom actually truly hungry.  I could have been a 'model' then with no problem.  Even when i did eat a bit.....my frenetic lifestyle seldom left it to show up as a ( horrors ) fat pad anywhere. 

Amazing things happen when you reach that majical time in your life when you not only have actually developed a real appetite, but mid-life when either glands quite behaving ( thyroid ) or hormones are crapping out pretty consistently.  Anyway, my higest point was 220 I'm sad to say.  Good thing I'm tall with long bones.  Most people had no idea.  I've lost a lot of that wt. now thank goodness.

Still though....don't like to see people so thin.  Even I ( no matter how much I've carped about my wt. ) would never, ever want to be as thin again. 

Been growling all day about the "thoughts" from many -- Paul Ryan being one, coming after the Pres. speech.  Sometimes when I'm listening I'm so glad there is not a concrete wall in front of me because I fear I'd be banging my head on it at the lack of connection to the interpretation of what was said....rather than the actuality of what was said.  Think that calls for a hanful of Hershey's Kisses to drown my disgust in until I feel better.

I do believe that fashion is an art form when I see things of this calibre (and Galliano, I must admit). They had a quartet of violinists on the beach - it was all so dark and intense.

Yes....and the wigs are clearly intended to look like wigs. If Thomas Mann had designed "Death in Venice" instead of writing it, this would have been the result. Final one - promise (from same collection):

That Chanel bag probably costs about $5,000 - never understand why they have to exaggerate on price like that, but it is iconic.

My workplace is also business casual. I remember Jones New York - had a blouse from them. Don't see them much in DC. 

My usual places of business for clothes are Banana Republic and Ann Taylor (great for us business causal people).

Sandy, I don't see this conversation as demeaning to women at all....Wow, I feel privileged to be feminine, and to have something better to do than wear ties and jackets....Since when did beauty and femininity become politically incorrect....it doesn't take away from a person's intellect.

Most people couldn't begin to afford Michelle's clothes - or her Jimmy Choo shoes. And I won't hold that against her.

I don't see it as demeaning.  I'm just not all that interested.  Too much of an old hippie. Give me some jeans and a fringed leather vest anyday.

Blue - they're not sure yet if they were Canadian or using forged Canadian papers - apparently the Algerian Ambassador to Canada was called in today to see if he could give the Canadian government proof - their President was on TV on Sunday saying it was a Canadian who organized the attack on the natural gas field and that another Canadian helped him from inside.

The reason we don't talk about the men's clothes is because they are boring.  Really, how much can you emote about a suit and tie?  Being First Lady has to be a very expensive undertaking when it comes to wardrobe.  They are expected to dress nicely, make lots of appearances, and hardly ever wear the same thing twice.  Michelle has taken some undeserved digs for 'repeats' but good for her for doing it.

My closets need to be gone through.  There is stuff in there I haven't worn for years.  And yes, some of mine still have the tags too.
