And now back to Mrs. B (who may just have an angry face, like I do), fashion, and politics!
-
Sweet Sampson!
-
What a handsome horsey boy! He's doing good ... bet you can't wait to be the one who gets to ride with him!
These Congressional hearings are dog and pony shows. Yep ... the same Congresscritters who were all full of understanding about how 9-11-01 could happen on our own soil (in spite of all the warning signs we found out about later) or how we were so deadly wrong about Iraq having WMDs just cannot understand how something could go wrong with a diplomatic mission in a country in turmoil like Libya.
Yes, they need to find out what went wrong and do their best to prevent it happening again. No, a bunch of rabid politicians who mainly want an opportunity to wound the other party are not going to find those solutions. Hillary is right and they know it. There is always danger for our diplomats in those places ... and they cannot do their work hiding in bunkers. So I am waiting for their offers of more funding to beef up security. And maybe they could spend some time figuring out how we can stop future instances like 26 teachers and children getting shot in their own school right here at home.
I have some sympathy for Mrs B. They lost ... they had to watch the winners celebrate. There were probably about a million things she would rather have been doing.

E, he's magnificent!!
-
He is! I wanted to pull the trainer off and hop on him myself, but you can't do that with the Barack Obama of the horse trainer world.
-
Is your horse training to be a jumper? I think I saw you post that way back.
-
Belinda,
Naughty girl!!!
-
Yorkie,
He's just been introduced to a rider but yes, eventually he'll be a show jumper, with some eventing along the way.

E, I LOVE THIS!
-
So did Hillary put those fools in their place?
-
Or are the fools in the LLama?
-
Blue -They may be the ones in the llama, running away.
-
HAHA! Great minds think alike and all that crap. ;-)
-
Great minds E!
-
Its my antennae E!

And my aluminum foil deflector beanie! Or was it the Canadian bot chip y'all implanted last time I crossed the border?
-
I know nothing!

Go Hillary go......a bunch of clowns.....just showing off for 2016 and as we all know......no NEW information wil come out here. I think if this party continues its present behaviors......they will find the year no longer matters. They are quite disgraceful and seem clueless that they are at present on a rather long continuation of the sorts of things that dearly cost them this just past election.
Jackie
spell checker apparently wiped out in the briefing room.

Jackie- lol!
Only read news accounts, but I think Hillary did well. She pointed out (why is basic common sense so newsworthy these days?) that there was no point in people dwelling on what they were told or not told in the hours after it happened - what was important was to ensure that this did not happen again.
It's snowing!
--3 am dispatch
Correction: It snowED. Blink and you miss it in DC. But it is staying so far. Cars are nicely blanketed, as are roofs.
Off to count sheep.
Threadmate roll call: In addition to Kam, wondering where HL and Ang7 are....and Covertanjou? And 3monst, notself, Paula....and anyone else I am unintentionally omitting...
Anyone diagnosed with cancer should learn to have a healthy disrespect for statistics. Statistics are maths. It's the science which still eludes us.

It's raining!!! Yippeeeeeee. We have the remnants of a cyclone coming down the coast - reportedly rain all weekend

My favorite moment in the hearings yesterday was Hillary's face when rand paul asked her about arms to turkey - one of those Fox news exclusives that Paul apparently believed. Her face said what i wish she could have actually put into words: what kind of an idiot are you?
E: what a beautiful horse!! Can't wait to see pictures of you riding him!
I'm in a good mood this morning. My DD in California just landed an acting gig on a commercial, hopefully first of many. My DH has an interview that might get him out of the terrible job he's in. I'm on page 196 of my novel, on target to finish by the end of February, and the NJ Supreme court just modified the bona fide office rule, so I can have a virtual office and not put my home address out there. The last is why I haven't really been pushing the legal work. It's a good, if cold, day in New Jersey
-
Alexandria, what did Rand ask her in regards to Turkey?
-
Momine, did you see the Sarah Burton horrors I posted? We do have to rememer that she also designed Kate Middleton's wedding dress, so she knows how to make normanl clothes.
Sandy - Sounds like a good beginning of the year for you. Page 196?!
-
Good morning, all. Slowly catching up on life here. Miss a weekend and you really get set back!
I was in LA last weekend to do my Pilates teacher certification testing. It was brutal and intense and exciting. It's taken me several days to just unwind from all that sensory overload. My body needs to do some movement so I'm headed out to an early mat class, then breakfast, then a much needed trip to Costco. And, oh yeah, I don't know if I passed or not yet. Should hear by the end of the week, but not holding my breath. I've gotten good at the waiting game over the years, and this is peanuts compared to the BIG stuff I've had to wait for. Funny how life and cancer put things in perspective for you...
Listed to a lot of Hillary's testimony yesterday. That woman's got a set (of ovaries) for sure! Takes no crap from anyone. I love her. McShame is an ass. Can we boot him to Alaska with she who will not be named?
-
Athena, yes, I saw the Burton delights, lol. I was not crazy about the wedding dress, although the skirt was really beautiful. My favorite was the bridesmaid's dress on the sister. Perfect in my eyes.
-
Momine; I don't remember the exact words, but it was something about Libiya sending arms to Turkey and what did she know about that. had nothing to do with the attack on our consulate or the deaths of four Americans.
-
My neck is healing rapidly and I feel better, so that's the good news. The stressful news is that I have to get scans in March to see where we are. So 6 more weeks of waiting and then days waiting for the results. Heads (boring) I win, tails (cancer) I lose. My prize for losing? More chemo. I will believe in the win.
Is anyone on Afinitor? I asked my onc if I should take since anti-estrogens (tamox and arimidex) have failed. Why should I continue on faslodex when that will most likely fail too? He said that Afinitor has higher toxicity than faslodex and is not willing to put me on it. I was wondering if anyone had side effects and how severe they are. -
Alexandria, to Turkey? or to Syria? The diplomat who was killed was involved in supplying weapons to the Libyan rebels during the uprising against Ghaddafi. When he was killed in Benghazi there was apparently some disagreements, both between the jihadis and the Americans and between State and CIA, as to what weapons to send on to the Syrian rebels. Very likely some of those weapons went through Turkey.
In other words, it does not actually strike me as such a dumb question.
