Such horrible news. I feel so sad and hope with all my being that the treatment works. Michelle, you will be in my thoughts. Hugs to you and your family.
-
lovinmymom - So sorry to hear this - please know we are all praying for strength for all of you and a good response to the WBR for Michelle.
-
Oh such sad news...was thinking of you, Michelle while in the MRI machine this afternoon, knowing that that experience was nothing like what you were going through today. This so sucks!! The only positive thing is that you are perhaps the strongest fighter around with the most supportive family. ((((Hugs)))) to all of you.....
If there is anything I can do to make your treatment schedule easier, I want to help...and have time to do it! So please, let your close by cyber friends help out.....meals, rides, babysitting for your DD.....whatever.
Beyond that sincere offer, I'm speechless..... -
I am speechless also, huge HUGS and PRAYERS going out to you Michelle. Thank you lovin, please keep us posted.
-
(((Debbie))) Hugs for you, too
-
And thanks everyone. My brain is not connecting with my fingertips very well so typing is a struggle. I feel like I'm being gagged...lol Thank you for your offers of help, I may accept the help, gratefully. You can PM my daughter and coordinate with her. Her name is Christine Russell. Hey, the steroids must be working a little...I'm up to 20 words a minute!
-
Hear hear- love to see you post Michelle. I hope you are able to find some rest and sleep tonight- somehow- hugs.
-
-
I couldn't agree more. Great to hear from you. Deborey, what a perfect post!
-
Great to hear from you Michelle!! I'm chuckling at your twenty words comment since I would be amazed if I could do that on my best day!!
Thanks for letting us know how to be in touch with Christine!
Ditto on Laurie's wish for you to get some rest tonight...
((((Hugs)))) and Bob sends Rick the same..... -
Michelle- I am so upset beyond words right now! You are our family here and we all love you!! My heart is breaking that you have to deal with yet another blow. I cried when I read about your brain mets and cried even harder when you sent ME a hug after all your going through! We are all praying for you.
Thank-you Christine for letting us all know. ((((hugs))) to you as well.
-
Michelle, my chemo buddy, I'm popping in to send my love and prayers.
-
Man, cancer just sucks! Michelle, praying for you, stay strong. Since I first met you when you answered me when I asked about diabetics and chemo, you are such an inspiration. and, now I know just why you are so proud of your children, lovinmymom kind of proved that you should be! Much love.

long time no see. I've been busy and a bit tired from all the busy-ness. I made French Onion Soup last nite.. it was to die for. Unfortunately i had a bunch of teenagers over and they ate it all. no leftovers
.
It's election day and four forum pages passed me by. Sorry for all the troubles.
-
Hey Michelle, so good to hear your "voice"!
-
Hey local ladies,
Some of you who love LuvRVing (my mom) have expressed interest in helping out. I have created a meal train to help support my parents through my mom's upcoming treatment. I know most of you are far away, and your love and support will come through this thread and your thoughts, prayers and messages to my mom, but for those who are close by I wanted to offer this way of support. It's hard not to feel completely helpless right now, but in this little way we can do something to help.

Michelle, as you begin treatment, everyone on this thread will be pulling for you. That's a lot of positive energy.
My white chili was really tasty. And WILL be tasty, since there's lots of it. Tonight I'm planning to cook pork medallions (slices of pork loin). I'll use a WW recipe that looks good. Kind of a picata with lemon and capers. For a side I may try quinoa again. And a chopped salad with raw broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, and avocado. Or I may blanch the veggies. The dressing will be EVOO. It's really a delicious salad. I first ate it when a friend delivered dinner after my BMX surgery. This friend used cajun seasoning, too. I will use the Salt-Free Prudhomme's Magic and add a little salt. The veggies are chopped into very small pieces.
Good! The sun is peeking out. I plan to do some yard work today. I have 20 bales of pine straw for mulching flower beds. But first a workout with hand weights. And some minutes on the stairclimber.
Oh, and I do plan to vote.
Wishing everyone a good day.
-
I saw Michelle's info on the other thread and send prayers from this one.
-
For breakfast just about every morning I've been having a home made veggie soup with lots of tomatoes, topped with goat cheese and croutons. yum - I just keep making it. I am hooked.
-
Apple: Good choice for breakfast! I love soup for breakfast
Michelle: Saying prayrers and sending positive energy your way. Wish I lived closer so I could help!
Happy voting everyone!
-
Carole Good for you on the excercise. My sis cajoled me into walking today, which I am glad we did, because the sun came out and it was beautiful. Hopefully it will lift me outta this funk.
Michelle Hope those rads blast that crap right out of there...be sure to rest...I know your family will make sure that you do. Sending some positive vibes....here they come!!
Think I will do a steak on the grill and slice with onions for a cheesesteak sandwich tonight.
-
Christine- What a great idea on the meal train, wished I lived closer too. But will think of something! Michelle thinking of you!
Laurie- Thanks! Wanted to tell you that I loved the cute costume you had on FB the other day it cracked me up. Sounds like you have been so busy.
Apple- Your soup sounds really good.
Carole- Love Chx picatta its one of my favorites. I put lots of lemon and capers on mine. I just might make that for dinner tonight!
Carrie- I keep forgetting to ask, but how is your sister doing?
Skipped breakfast and had a peppered turkey pastrami sandwich with pepper jack cheese. And of course some peppadews!
-
Carol- I too love chicken picatta- I have never successfully made it : /
Debbie- Thank you!It was fun dressing up so silly
A friend mailed my DS a cook book yesterday so we picked a recipe and are trying it tonight. Lasagna soup.If it turns out good I will share the recipe.
Still thinking of you Michelle.
-
Voted this morning, looks like it will be a big turnout around here.
Made black bean tacos with some Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, salsa, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, and jalapeños on a wheat tortilla. Very good.
Apple, I don't know either your house or Susan's. Your posts make me so hungry. Yours too Carol. At least I am easing myself back into the game. That lasagna soup sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to hearing how it was.
(((((Michelle)))))). I wish I lived nearby, but am sending all good thoughts and wishes that you'll be feeling better soon. I felt like I got punched in the stomach when I read the news. I know they have great results with the WBR, and hoping it gives you great results.
((((((Debbie)))))) thinking of you too -
Haven't felt much like posting our food creations in the past few days. Two nights ago I made a gyro-flavored pate. Then I sliced it very thin and broiled it just before serving. In the past, we have tried to rottisserie the meat, but it always wants to collapse into the coals. This was better. I also made a thick gyros pita; turns out it is just another fry bread, without the oil. A tray of spanikopita and a simple salad finished the meal. I thought I was making a "simple" meal. How many ways was I wrong? The first night the kids joined us, and then we got another full meal plus some lunches.
Tonight I am on the edge of my seat about the election results, so I pulled out a chicken stew from the freezer and made some biscuits and some steamed broccoli.
Have no idea about tomorrow night's dinner. We are heading to the Cape for four days so don't want leftovers My friend caught a nice striper last week so that is one dinner. We are bringing a leg of lamb for another night, and from there, we will see what we want to do.

The pork picata was delicious. So was the roasted asparagus and chopped salad w/ broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, and avocado. I blanched the broccoli and cauliflower for just a minute and then cooled in ice water. Drained well and stored in ziplocs in the refrigerator. I like the blanched veggies better than raw in the chopped salad.
DH and I waited in line for about 20 minutes to vote. But we visited with neighbors who were also in the line. The turnout at our polling station looked good.
Thinking of you, Michelle. And thinking of you, too, Debbie.

Yay Deb! Love your inspiring graphics!
-
Sharon wanted me to try that rice-chicken recipe with brown rice because it's a bit more Weight Watchers friendly. It was good, again, but the taste was quite a bit different. Since the only thing that was different was the rice, I will have to say I'm amazed at the taste of the jasmine rice.
Michelle..I'm still sending positive thoughts. My heart skipped a few beats when I read the note from "your" Christine (my daughter's name is also Christine). I wish I lived closer.
Apple, it seems that even one teenager is enough to make sure there are no left overs.. They say boys eat more than girls....I'm not sure. :-)

We were never able to have children but I learned how they eat when we bought a house that came with an 17 year old. I was used to cooking for two adults but adding him was like adding two more adults and a losing leftovers.
