As always, Ina used far more fat than required. 2 cups of cream???? Oh my. I can't afford that many calories. I am still feeling guilty that I use whole milk. I generally use between 1 and 2 quarts of milk since I am only cooking for two. Ricotta doesn't store well, so I only make what I need for that dish. I never boil the milk either. Boiled milk makes my stomach hurt. I bring the milk to just under a boil, about 200 degrees if you have a candy thermometer. Then off the heat, I add my lemon juice or cider vinegar and stir in a circular motion with a wooden spoon. I then let the mixture sit covered for 10 minutes. Then I scoop off the whey and save the whey to make bread.

Took longer to type than to make!

Happy 39th Lacey! That is how long we've been married too. 1973. Long time ago. I am glad you did something special for your anniversary.

Eric, nice reference! LOL. Oh, and, please tell Sharon congrats on the job.

Michelle, that will be a nice thing to do for your mom.

Susan, does the homade ricotta cook up like the other kind?

I am going to post this before I loose it all like I did yesterday. So if I missed you, my apologies, I will try go catch up. Much love.

Morning ladies:  All that homemade ricotta and other stuff sounds really good...for some reason I just don't have the will to do it from scratch even though I know it would taste and be better for me.

Michelle...nice what you are doing with your mother's ashes...I want mine spread over the Blue Ridge Mountains...so beautiful.

I had a wonderful day Saturday with my 3 year old DGD...she is getting so big!  We went to the playground and then to Target where she tried on every pair of shoes on the rack and had to pick her own pairs.  We ended up with Dora the Explorer tennis shoes, some Ugg boots and a pair of Mary Janes that I managed to slip into the cart..LOL!  Then it was off to buy some warmup suits for her and she knew exactly what she wanted.  She is definitely Grandma's girl!  After that she wanted a cupcake...DS said absolutely not, so she pouted all the way home!  It was fun and exhausting!

Today is my app't with my OC just for a check up.  I expect everything will be fine!

    Have a great day everyone!

White chili for dinner tonight.  Ground turkey from Fresh Market and home-cooked cannolini (sp) beans out of the freezer, plus onion, garlic, peppers sweet and hot, cumin, s & p.

WW weigh-in this morning.  No weight loss this week, says my scale.  Maybe a slight increase.  A SE of aromatase inhibitors is NOT ease in losing weight!

Hi ladies.  My mom is LuvRVing.  I know she posts here often and many of you think of her as a friend and BC fighting sister.  I wanted to let you know that she's been having some trouble focusing and typing the last few days.  She's at Dana Farber right now for testing.  Of course they'll be looking for those ugly scary brain mets, but we're fairly confident and hopeful that this is just "chemo brain" caused by the clinical trial drug.  Either way, she could use your love, support and good wishes.  I'm sure she'd love to see your comments here or on her blog so don't hold back and send your thoughts her way.  Thanks ladies!  Good luck and love to all of you!

Lovin, thanks for your post about your mom. What a wonderful daughter you are to keep us updated. I had noticed that Michelle was posting less, but was hoping that with so much to do with your grandmother's funeral and after that she was just busier than usual and low on energy. She is such a valued member of this thread and beyond! All my positive thoughts and energy are with her as she goes through her appts today and deals with this next "thing". She is a strong warrior....so hopes are high!

I'm off to have an MRI and appt with MO today.

Last evening DS2 came over for dinner since we missed his birthday dinner on Halloween (as is often the case). We had squash/leek soup topped with sauteed portobello mushrooms, grilled chicken breasts and a big ol salad....and carrot cupcakes for dessert!

Deb, thanks for the cute card....at some point I know I will learn how to post pix on this thread....but not as long as I am using my IPad.

    Have a good day everyone.....

Lovin  Sending hugs and prayers to your mom.  Chemo sometimes causes us all kinds of weird side effects, praying the docs find the reason and resolve it quickly. thank you for keeping us up-dated, as your mom is such an inspiration to all of us.

lovinmymom - sending hugs to you, your mom and the rest of your family.  We feel like we know you all (and some of us do!) because your mom is so very good with pictures and keeping us up to date on what you all are doing!  Thank you so much for this information and know that we are all holding you in our thoughts - and hoping this is just a bump in the road.

((((((Debbie)))))) So glad it is not lung cancer, but I am still so sorry you are going to have to deal with any health issue.  I hope Chuck and your Dad are doing ok.  Sending love and strength to you.

Kay- I am so sorry for your daughters loss- I read about it on line- tragic.

Wow I had a busy few days just with life and parties and I just read through the past few pages and now I am worried about some of you!!  I will post more later when I can focus again.  It all make me so sad as I feel so close to all of you.

I can't believe I have to post this ladies, but my mom, LuvRVing (Michelle) has brain mets.  They are small but theyare numerous.  She is starting whole brain radiation tomorrow.  I don't know when she'll be able to post again but I know she'll be reading your threads so please wish, hope, pray...whatever you've got.  We really need it all.

Doggone it! I am so sorry to read this Lovin. We all admire your mom so much. She gives strength and encouragement to us. We will be here to strengthen and encourage her, too.

Debbie, I am sorry that you have been diagnosed with emphysema. My dad lived with this for many years. Strengthen those lungs!

I am sorry that I'm not much of a poster here, but admit that I read this thread often. Please know that I pray for all of our struggles and I care for you all.

    Hugs and Prayers,

    Lexi

I am so sorry Michelle. Many, many hugs and prayers coming your way from Philadelphia.  I know your spirit is strong enough to bear this.  You have much cyber love to go along with all the love you're getting from your wonderful family.  I had other things to say to others, but I am so upset, i can't think straight to remember them. Take care Michelle and everyone.

    Love, Kay
