Anybody following Romney's associates of late? Murdock ofcourse, but his surrogate John Sununu, who has a long history of being a ___ ___ _____ ______ ___ , and was still picked by Romney. You can go all the way back to Nixon with this guy.
-
I have been looking at Sununu --- perhaps he has some Sunemesia or something. Interesting guy. Doesn't always know what he is saying....many Regressive seem to have that affliction.

Kam, regarding Powell's endorsement of Obama, he said something about how races will stick together (as I predicted in a previous post). Also, I have read he is very anti-Semetic.
-
gumby ... good article about the whole thing here.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/10/24/us-usa-benghazi-emails-idUSBRE89N12020121024 Excerpts ...
The message reported: "Embassy Tripoli reports the group claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and has called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli."
This was an open-source, unclassified email about a posting on a Facebook site. I would also note I think that within a few hours, that organization itself claimed that it had not been responsible. Neither should be taken as fact -- that's why there's an investigation under way,"
Per Faux that one message means they were immediately told all they needed to know and must have just been covering up the details

Sending some happy vibes to Mary! It's Friday ... does that help?
Sandy ... good to see you! How are you doing?
-
Nobody knows the Bush Jr. people ... who are now advising Romney behind the scenes ... better than Colin Powell. His endorsement of Obama speaks volumes about what he thinks of them and their 'ideas'. Of course they are going to try to convince people it's just a race thing.
-
New GOP conspiracy theory...ROFL!

-
I remember something with Sununu (and not the son) using government planes going to ski resorts, but other than that, I've watched him throughout this campaign and I can always expect the racist thing to come out of his mouth. I think he was responsible for the comment "he needs to learn to be an American" and while flipping channels last night, I heard he was coming up on Piers Morgan, so I tuned in, waiting for his next racist comment, and sure enough, he delivered as expected..the one on Colin Powell. He's disgusting, but he's Romney's surrogate choice. I swear, Romney is right out of the 1950's. btw, in his church, women cannot become high priests.

shiny clean ears...my mom would've been so proud of him!

I am increasingly convinced that there are parallel universes in the US. One uses critical thinking, facts (!), consistency and evidence based predictions. The other uses hysteria, fantasy, opportunistic varying positions and fear mongering. The alarming reality for the rest of the world is that the latter group is within spitting distance of the White House.
It feels like that time when Bush was threatening to go to Iraq based on fantasy and fear mongering. My stomach was queasy watching the news. It's queasy again. Sure hope the cure comes soon.Caveat - Sadly we are not immune at all to that latter sort of thinking here. It is seeping across the border.
-
I agree Kam. Sununu does Romney no good as a surrogate. But birds of a feather...
-
Thanks, WR, for pointing out the idiocy of acting as though a Facebook claim of responsibiity is a "stop the presses" moment, instead of one more piece of information to be weighed and evaluated. My recollection of past attacks is that twisted groups often scramble to claim responsibility in order to draw attention to themselves.
The other thing that's been making me crazy is this idea that "terrorist" necessarily means al-Qaeda. Um, no. There are plenty of other terrorist groups out there.
The world is a complicated and dangerous place, and spreading half truths, untruths and wild conspiracy theories doesn't make it any simpler. It does make it more dangerous. though.
Linda
(Edited to add, because my original post was pretty bleak: the world is also an amazing and beautiful place. And I'm working my ass off for Obama to try to keep it that way, because the alternative scares me to death.)

HL - send E an enormous hug - so hoping they got it all. Awaiting your next report.
-
OK, latest Suz update. She is in her surgical cubicle and receiving pain meds. She is sleepy. The surgeon said he got all of the diseased tissue as nearly as he could tell -- he took everything he could see. No muscle and no venous involvement, which is a plus. She can move her arm and shoulder (although it hurts like hell). She will be here at least until early evening, and maybe overnight if she is still in pain.
Suz sends sleepy smiles and waves, and thanks everyone for crowding in her bag and being here.
So, as far as we know it is good news. We will see what the path report says next week.
L -
Thanks for the update Libby. I'm liking the no muscle or vein damage part! Now to get that pain under control. I think I'm hoping they will let her stay overnight and on the good pain meds. Will stay tuned for further updates. (Waving back at you both)
-
Oh HL - I could cry, I'm sooooo relieved. No muscle and no venous involvement and she can move -YEY!!!
Send her showers and showers of hugs and congratulations. She'll be up and rising Sampson in no time.
This is such a great premilinary report.
Doing a small hoola-hoop dance - trying not to push my bag mates around too much!
-
This is excellent news about Enjoyful - so wonderful. HL - thank you for the updates.
-
yorkie, what is the earpiece thingie supposed to mean?
"This may explain the odd constant stare at Romney during thre third debate"
What more likely explains it is the President thinking, "WTF is that fool saying now?"
-
I think they believe that Obama was getting secret messages from somebody, like Axelrod, about what to say in the debate. In other words they think he was cheating. Don't know if any of the mirror people are talking about this. I gave up going there. It's just too aggravating.
-
Hahahaha, riley!
Have you guys seen the ad that Lena Dunham did for Obama? I think she - and it - are totally adorable. But I understand that conservatives are working themselves up into a frothy frenzy over it. I honestly cannot imagine being so humorless and uptight as to find this ad offensive . . . but what do I know? I think gays and lesbians should be able to marry their partners, and that young straight women (including my daughter, gulp)* should have access to birth control . . . so obviously I'm some kind of sex fiend.

Glad Scoot is OK and really hope he got it all this time - HL gives her lots of hugs from us.
WR - we are going out to dinner tonight as it happens - previously arranged - but a good way to celebrate.
Trying to decide if I should go for a bike ride or go to the markets near the city. Steve going to golf shortly and it's 5:30am - light enough for a ride.
-
I'm so glad to hear that Scoot's doing well.
In her honor a wonderful video, the intro is a little long but the poem is worth it (92 year old Vet endorsement poem for Obama):
-
what an AWESOME ad. I love it!! edited to add - I meant Lena Dunham's
The link to the vet one never gave me video.

HL - so glad to hear the E is able to move!!! no venous involvement. so so so so glad. Whenever she gets to have hugs again - she's got a whole bagful of 'em waiting!!
-
Hugs for Scoot and happy dance for susieq.
-
GG, did you click on the arrow in the middle of the pic? I get the video just fine but if others are having trouble with it I can look for another source. I saw Lena Dunham's ad earlier and thought it was very clever.
-
there was no picture, and no arrow - it could be something about my connection, as I'm at work.....
back to politics... just got a CNN Breaking News...
A new CNN/ORC International poll shows that the race for the battleground state of Ohio remains very close, just a week and a half before Election Day.
In the survey released Friday, President Barack Obama holds a four-point advantage over Republican nominee Mitt Romney, with 50% of likely Ohio voters questioned in the poll backing the president and 46% supporting the former Massachusetts governor.
Ohio carries 18 electoral votes. Obama's margin is within the survey's sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points. The survey was conducted Tuesday through Thursday, entirely after Monday's final presidential debate.
-
Just got in - such good news about Scoot - HL thanks for being there and passing messages, hugs, waves, whatever - hope her pain lessens tonight and she can get home to her own bed.
-
Lewing - great minds, that was the video I linked to. I LOVE it.
HL - whew, please give enjoyful a gentle hug from all of us, whew...pain is a good sign in a strange way, that she can move. Soon be back riding....whew....what a tense time...
Sununu....would it be racist to suggest someone wanted to lynch him? wondering.....where does this scum go when it's not eating it's own feet? too crude to write what I really think...
Back to happiness....SMILEs, big ones to scoot....
-
oops, Sunflowers . . . I missed your earlier post! the ad turned up later on my FB feed, and I loved it. great minds DO think alike.

Wow - I chose the ride - took 49 minutes 13.65kms. I have been slack lately as it been quite hot and windy. Early morning is the best time to go.
I meant to tell you. The magpie that has been attacking me, actually got a 10 year old girl in the eye a week ago. Luckily it only got the outer membrane and she has no damage to her sight. There was an article in the paper about it. The council said they would put up signs - like that will stop it attacking - wish they would just shoot the bloody thing. Other people said they have been knocked off their bikes by it.

Latest update on Scootenjoyalooful ( :-) )
She was resting when I left at about 2:15 p.m. I had to leave to be able to get home on the Beltway before the crazy drivers really leave work. There is much crazy in the stores here because FRANKENSTORM IS COMING (cue screams and pix of people running around in panic). She was sleeping in and out and still in some pain, so I suspect they will keep her overnight. No more info from surgeon -- just waiting for the pathology report and waiting to have pain controlled enough to go home. I will update as I hear from her sister.
E send her hugs and thanks back to everyone -- the good wishes and hugs help!
