Hoping for a beautiful day for you Blue, but more importantly, a great lifelong union for your daughter and new SIL.
-
Blue, what a beautiful day here for a fall wedding. I hope you enjoy every minute. My son is getting married on the 27th so I am sharing your excitement and thankfulness that we are here to enjoy these milestones.
Have a wonderful time!
-
Blue,
I hope you and your family have a perfect day.
-
Blue,
Happy day for you and your family -- what a lovely celebration it will be!

Blue, I hope the day is as beautiful there as it is here. I'm so happy for your family.
Everyone get out and enjoy a bit of fresh fall air, and forget about woes for a minute or two.

have a wonderful day Blue and family.

SO, another post of Athena's has been "removed" by the community....wonder what "rule" it broke - have a feeling tho' she didn't NAME ANY NAMES, some people must SELF IDENTIFY by a term she used, or who ever "they" are who reported it, wouldn't be so upset by the post...kinda funny when you think about it, but don't waste your time thinking about anyone who lurks and reports posts on this thread - really not worth a second of any one's time...
What happened to "Don't Like, Don't Read."
Time to donate more money to Obama - guess there are some people REALLY upset by the upticks in the Polls in the swing states...
-
Wow, another post reported? I don't remember reading anything objectionable. I guess some are extra sensitive due to the political climate and polls? This is why I don't like "report" buttons without a background check: uncontrolled emotions and itchy button fingers.
Time to donate! Who will get my money today? Obama? Planned Parenthood? Big president-hugging pizza guy? Or maybe all of the above. -
Good Afternoon Friends!
Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday.
Anne .. It's been raining all day here, so no outside work for me today. I need to blow and rake up all the acorns and chestnut pods that have fallen. Will wait until tomorrow after the storm blows over.
Blue .. Hope the wedding was wonderful. I'm sure the bride and mother-of-the-bride were stunning. Can't wait to see some pics of your fabulous shoes.
Sunnyflowers .. I went back over the previous page to see which one of Athena's posts got deleted. I found it, but couldn't remember that far back what she had written. Why would someone bother to go back and delete a post from yesterday. The 'delete police' are whacked out and really shouldn't even bother reading this thread if they find it so offensive. I don't read threads that have nothing to do with me. And furthermore, if someone finds Athena's remarks so offensive, why the hell don't they just block her posts from showing up?!?
hugs,
Bren

Ok, everyone, attack on our lioness, around round of donations. Going to the DNC this time. Isn't it nice to know that whoever went after Athena is helping the dems?
-
I just want to give everyone a quick update - the cancer is back in my neck, the same place as before. This time, it created its own space rather than forming in a lymph node or organ. The surgeon removed the tumor but didn't get clear margins. So, at the end of October I'll have more extensive surgery to remove some muscle and other tissue. The surgery may compromise nerves, mobility, and my jugular vein as well as leaving extensive scarring.
The most frightening thing to me is that a PET/CT missed it completely. What else is hiding in my body.
As they said in Tropic Thunder: Here we go again. Again. -
Suz .. OMG. I am so sorry that damn cancer came back ... but so glad that you pushed for the biopsy. It is scary when a scan misses something. We'll all be with you for your upcoming surgery.
Much love,
Bren
-
Donation to the Van Duzer Foundation - done!
-
Enjoyful - thank goodness you pushed for the biopsy. So frightening it didn't get picked up in test, but sounds like you have good surgeons, who know what they're doing. Hoping the surgery is more "minimal" than you are thinking it will be, and still get all the STUFF out that needs to be gotten rid of. Maybe it wasn't "picked up" cuz of the location, or small size?
Please don't worry about "scarring" - that's what scarves are for. Not taking this lightly at all, but thankful you are such a good advocate for yourself, and are in charge of what gets done, and that surgery is an option! Just reaching for any good I can find in this - meanwhile, my brain is spewing out 4 letter words....
-
Enjoyful: At least they found it. We're here for you!!
-
(((hugs))) to Suz ... my opinion on the whole situation would require lots of really bad words to express so better not. Also glad you insisted on that biopsy though. We'll be with you all the way.
I read Athena's posts yesterday and darned if I can remember anything she said that might have gotten somebodies panties in a twist. Guess it doesn't take much. If people come over to read just to be thread nannies I wish they would just stay home and mind their own business. We have moderators who are quite capable of doing their job without help from busybodies.
Donation going out today also. The Obama campaign has been nagging me anyway and appreciates your contribution to getting me to donate again.
Anxiously awaiting wedding details and pictures from blue.
-
Enjoyful, I'm sorry you have to deal with another surgery and the waiting. I hope everything goes well.
I'm also joining in the donating. President Obama and my senator have already gotten quite a bit from me this cycle. So now I'm trying to decide between the DCCC, the DNC, a nice little fund set up for some wonderful Democratic women running for Senate seats or to Moveon, which has a new get out the vote project going on.
Any opinions?
-
You can donate direct to any House or Senate campaign through the candidates web site. This is what I do. I want to make sure that my contribution goes to the candidate I would like to see elected.
-
Changed my avatar until the lioness is back.
The idea that we give more money to the Democrats every time one of our own is attacked is a great one.
Meantime, all of us need to make a fuss!
MODS!!! Athena said NOTHING that deserves banning or deleting!!!
She did use a name for someone who had written a biography of the president's mother, claiming that the mother of our president had been a fat slut, but unless the author of that biography is a secret member of BCO, no member of this community was attacked by Athena. And BTW she was on the money about what she said about that author.
-
Enjoyful - I still feel so new to this BC thing that when I hear news like yours, well, I'm just amazed how strong you sound. Darn cancer.
I think some people are just inclined to live in a police state, but I think they want to be the police!
-
Oh poop enjoyful
We are having pot roast and fresh corn on the cob from the farmer's market and rice pilaf and... wait for it... fresh brussel sprouts...it is all so good. Oh and the red wine is good too. there is nothing like veggies straight from the farm.
-
Notself, I've done that in the past but that has resulted in me getting mail from Senate and Congressional Reps. from all over the country. Yep, donated online and yet they send me email and snail mail. I'm sure my mail carrier is very curious. I'd like to donate in a way as to not generate more mail, snail or e.
-
I got so much mail and phone calls from the ACLU that I made them promise to contact me only once a year. So far they have kept their promise.
-
Oh crappity crap crap (plus a few f-bombs for which I am infamous) at your news, Scootojoyfulloolama. Get that s(tuff) gone! I know you have great confidence in your onc and the surgeon (with another one in the wings!). We'll br right here!
Shouldn't be surprised at the reporting - it is a weekend AND a full moon. Until stringent measures are taken and enforced consistently and sternly, I'm afraid this babyish and pathetic nonsense will continue.
So, our President gets more money for his election campaign. I'm sure he appreciates it!
L -
AND, if anyone wants to learn more about the GOOD WORK President Obama's mother did while she was living in Hawaii, and in Indonesia - be SURE to watch Half the Sky ( you'll enjoy hearing Secretary of State Clinton) and know that much of the work Ms. Dunham did, was FOR THESE WOMEN. Ask anyone working with Women's World Banking, and they will tell you what a difference she made, and how her work has endured.
Please just ignore the haters who lurk, and "report" posts on this thread. I think the Moderators are being irresponsible in not letting us know WHO IS REPORTING. At a miniumum, I would expect the Moderators to address those individuals and tell them to stop. It's so sad, who ever is doing the reporting lacks the empathy, understanding, any woman with breast cancere deserves, but then we know what they've done in the past to people who were Stage IV and their reporting got them banned, and have sadly died, let's have a piece of chocolate cake in their honor.
I've met many women, who have "heard" of BCO, but wouldn't post here, because of what they've heard. I can understand, sadly, I can really understand.
Take care, Athena.
-
Blue: We await your pictures. Hope your back behaves for the day.
On other topics: I am so bleeping sick of this.
I actually opened up my jaws yesterday to ask that we not say anything about the conservative thread, then I get deleted -apparently someone doesn't have a very high opinion of herself - I am shocked she (they) felt alluded to, as I meant no allusions to anyone on this forum. Pretty shocking, I have to say.
So I have this to say: You folks have already lost the election. You are losing the contest of ideas and your policies weren't even in the running for logic. Muzzling a lioness ain't going to change that!
Also, if you keep deleting us, the Dems will end up billionaires- what with all of the donations the sisters here are pledging.
So, really, it isn't in anyone's interest to play the delete game. It won't change anything.
Back to our regular programming, where we support each other, get support and have fun with our friends....
...where we tell E that we are in her pocket permanently, that she has loads of options, but that she will have to buy a super-sized purse (the wabbit's ears, you know....)
-
We're not going to be muzzled!! Yeah, Athena. I'm back to Tonk kittens now.
My yes/no sisters: hang in there. We all have to be here for each other.
-
Enjoyful....I am so sorry to hear your news but so very glad you are on top of it. I too will be hoping that maybe it turns out to be a little less than expected when you have more surgery.
Well, that is upsetting about Athena. Not meaning it to be taken wrong by anyone, but she seems so careful about how she writes her posts and I am thinking.....maybe she made too much sense and caused a little doubt or something. Very disturbing to me since often I re-think things and feel I might have been harsh when it was not needed or something of that ilk. I generally like Athena's entries and don't feel she is singling anyone out. As well, and as always the solution ( if and it certainly seems to be the problem ) those who can't stand the heat should avoid the kitchen.
So....I end up back at my original thought......that she made just a bit too much sense getting a little close for comfort. No one here can control the press, in particular the ones that lie, distort and use any means to make things look so rosy with a candidate that it appears to be a sure thing --- but if you allow yourself to face cold, hard, well proven facts, then you'd be wise to do what so many Republicans are doing and putting a little distance in and waiting ( probably praying too ) for the tide to turn somehow. It is going to be, what it is going to be....you might be able to have some influence, but dirty tricks, underhanded things and causing people to have posts removed is just totally un-dignified and completely un-called for and so as time goes on I would hope that you would come to see that we each actually have the same hopes and dreams.......just from an opposite vantage point. I would say....I wish us all well, but hope we can respect each other enough to show some style and grace.
If I have offended anyone or said something I shouldn't....I sincerely apologise but hope we can all just move on.
Jackie
who is not going to edit herself today.

I'm so sorry Enjoyful. Praying you will get that sucker zapped asap! How scary that scans missed it all.
What happened to the lioness?

1Athena1,
I finally found a slide show of the Dior collection. Love the evening wear. Still hate the tuxedo pant suits and the shorter coctail dresses with the netting. The day and evening dresses were fantastic.
