Lioness, I put my kitten paws up in agreement with you.
I have a new bumper sticker. Tired of hearing crazy voices? Turn off Fox News.
I find visiting Fox or friends (whereever they may be) makes me tired, scared, and a little sad - so I stay away.

Anne - yeah - it's frustrating. This isn't the first incident I've ever experienced, but when I lived in the city they actually broke into my house. That's more traumatic. This is just more of an exhausting (especially for my hubby since he has to deal with the whole mess) frustration. I sometimes can understand that people want to live in gated communities, but that has just never been my style. The area we live is fairly eclectic, as there are multi-million dollar homes mixed in with duplexes. There's one house about a half mile away that always has broken down cars in the yard. I've known other people who have had their cars stolen and/or broken into, and one man who had the engine stolen out of his car.... I always kinda thought it was the people with all the broken down cars in their yard, but you'd think they'd be fairly high on the police radar if that's the case.
Anyway, people who steal from others are pretty much lowlife as far as I'm concerned.
Alexandria - LOVE your bumper sticker - I may just make one!!!

Kam - years ago, when I was lobbying on behalf of an organization working for women in developing countries, I was trying to communicate with a VERY conservative US Senator - and after the meeting, a friend ( a very good friend) on another Senator's staff, said to me: "Never try to teach a frog to sing." She was wise. I was wasting my time, and getting VERY upset in the process. NOT. WORTH. IT. And this was w-a-a-y b4 the tealiban.
There are some places, people, who will never hear the same "music" you, we, do - don't waste your time. REALLY. REALLY. REALLY. Just not worth the effort.
BTW, Nick Kristoff & friends have a FABULOUS program on WOMEN coming up on PBS - keep an eye out for it on your local PBS TV stations...

For those who want to read, hear the truth...this is really a stitch! Willard crying "foul" for someone saying what he said, before he changed his mind. Did I say mind? Well, before he changed, whatever....

Enjoy.

HALF THE SKY
http://www.halftheskymovement.org/
On PBS, shown next week in most parts of the USA. Keep an eye out for it. EXCELLENT.

If there was ever anyone of whom one could say he was for it before he was against it .... that would be Willard.

Let's knock off the criticism of Mrs. Romney. Yes, she's sheltered but she is right that running for office and being in the spotlight is hard. When we call her names or question her character we are no different than those who slander Michele Obama.
I have read where one person wanted Romney to win so America could have a "real First Lady". This is trash talk and it is something we should leave out of our discussions.
Intrade now gives Obama a 79% chance of winning.
-
Not: as much as I respect the fact that you want to be fair, there is a difference between what we've said about Ann Romney and what people say about Michelle. I'm not criticizing AR for being rich, for dressing in designer clothes, for having a half-million dollar horse - although, damn i'd like the horse. I criticize her because she has said things that seem to show a complete lack of empathy or understanding for those whose circumstances are so much worse than hers. It's her words and her tone that I criticize. She is a spouse, but she is also a campaign spokesman for her husband, and as such, the fact that she states things like - two years of tax returns is all you people are going to get - leaves her open to criticism. The comparison is that no one - here at least - is slandering Ann Romney, i.e. saying things that are untrue.
You're probably right, it's time to leave the topic.
Still, before we go, I'd like to offer one article in support of my argument:
www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-the-people/post/ann-romney-will-tell-you-whats-wrong-with-you/2012/08/30/db34d212-f2f8-11e1-b74c-84ed55e0300b_blog.html

I'm in complete agreement with Alexandria - and HAPPY to leave the topic, it really is just TOO DEPRESSING.
MUCH rather think of the wonderful projects Michelle Obama has created - and brought to the attention of children who need them most. Also want to thank Dr. Jill Biden, along with Mrs. O for the WONDERFUL work they have done to support Military families...both of these women are women I DEEPLY respect, admire, and am grateful to the service they have given to all of us.

Sunny - Notself - and other fashion followers:
Did you see Raf Simmons's new Dior Collection? What do you think?
(Mini break for politics here...)

-
Lindasa -"Page Not Found" - what was it about?
-
1Athena1,
I just saw some of it and what I saw looked very 1960 menswear for women. Some of the dresses looked "mother of the bride". Perhaps it was the link I was looking at. What do you think?
-
Athena-the page isn't found, but the web address still says "Conservatives call Obama's deceased mother a fat slut". Nice.

Notself: I LOVED his shapes. He really has beautiful silhouettes, and he gives a modern interpretation of the Dior house codes. These look like free women, not the 50's housewives of Geytten's last couture collection. Simmons is definitely a minimalist - it makes me laugh of how different he is from John Galliano! But I didn't like his colors at all - they are too elemental. Those sick pinks are just awful to my eyes. And they do give an outdated look. But his pieces in black are superb.
Style.com hadn't had a review yet when I last checked. Cathy Horyn (whose taste I don't always like) of the NYT gave a good review. Here is the style.com link:
-
Athena -- Not sure why, but if you go to AddictingInfo, you'll find the article. There's also a link to the U of Hawaii, and info about the Stanley Ann Dunham Soetoro Endowment Fund.
I just cannot believe how incredibly hateful and mendacious some people can be.......
As for Dior -- I hate peplums and balloon skirts
-
That's John Galliano, Lindasa!
The new creative director, Raf Simmons, is actually designing wearable clothes. Will go and see about Obama;'s mother...ugh!
-
DAMN! I just wrote a looong post and did sumpin stoopid.
how about a pre wedding party tonite? Tomorrow is the BIG DAY and we dont want Blue up late.----------kad2kar -

Racist pigs. They can't STAND that a black man is president, can they....
-
OOoooohhh...tomorrow is THE BIG WEDDING DAY....
fingers & toes are all crossed for everything to be BETTER THAN PERFECT.
Pain free for Blue too.... ALL BEST WISHES for a spectacularly wonderful day....
-
Well....I must admit I heard something on that order a couple of days ago and chose to feel that whomever said it would come to realize what a reflection on themselves to have to reach that far down in the bag to find something. That truly does reach epic levels of disgustingly bad taste. The fear level must be so very, very high that you have to drag in a mother. What insanity.
I think my favorite channel is going to be dynamite tonight.....I was able to catch a couple of glimpses at work and I think I may be up later than I should as I do work for at least a half a day tomorrow.

Blue - will be thinking of you tomorrow on the big day - know everything will be just perfect (including the weather) - looking forward to seeing pictures.

Wedding bells will be ringing ..... Hope it's a glorious day, blue!! A toast to the happy families!!
-
Here's to you and your family, Blue! May it be a wonderful wedding day, and may the happy couple be blessed with many many years of joy!
-
Oh what a beautiful ( for a wedding ) morning. Sun is out here and due to be warm, actually just right at about 73 degrees. Of course, that is here in Illinois --- but hoping it is close to the same for Blue.
As to recent conversation, the first thing I saw in my in-box was my copy of Raw Story and there was Mrs. Romney. She, it seems, is concerned for Mitty's mental state should he become President. Well, that took a couple of seconds of non-consideration on my part. I did note though that I'm hearing the same lie from her about no jobs. Yes, I know you could expect that....it is just so stale. I also noted the Utopian like manner of her having confidence that he could fix it all....and from the tone, not taking that long. So un-believable to HEAR this when you see so many other Republicans owning up to the disaster of their candidate and campaign and most pundits saying.....the only way left for Romney to win this game now is to STEAL it -- although an upset of some sort could change that, but at this point that would have to be a very LARGE one.
Anyway, time to finish my news pile this morning. Will be going back after today to my regular work schedule again I believe....unless something comes up there.
Jackie

Blue, have a truly wonderful day celebrating your daughter's wedding!!

Blue, my best wishes for a wonderful celebratory day.
