Susie, gotta love those little critters deemed our intellectual "inferiors." Suuuuure. As I've mentioned before our yorkie had us completely under control within three days of our attempts to "train" her, hahaha.

Sad that the world economy is such that people have to resort to theft to survive. Plus, her children saw a very bad example, and unfortunately will tend to repeat behave similarly as adults.

Sure hoping something gets a handle on your pain Blue.

Wishing a good and relaxing day to all!

Wanted to stop by and wish everyone a great Saturday.

I've walked the dogs and it's already very hot and humid out  .. I'm ready for some fall weather!

Scoot ... Been missing you.  I'm sure you're very busy with Sampson!

Alex ... Wishing you the best of luck with you interview.  I'm self-employed as well and it can get scary without the benefits of a regular job.

Blue ... After my hysterectomy, I ended up with an 8 cm tortion cyst wrapped around my tubes.  It was a nightmare.  Very, very painful. I was one sick puppy.  I hope you can get the adhesions removed and feel better soon.

    hugs,

    Bren

    Good Morning!

Been busy - yesterday went to the barn and then got my hair highlited and trimed.  My hairdresser (is that PC now or is there another name?) is moving to Portland, Oregon.   If anybody needs a GREAT hairdresser in that area - let me know.  I love her because she is actually from Fort Worth and understands "Big Hair" Laughing  She has been with me through thick and thin - losing my hair and then growing it back and has taken special care of me because of my BC.  She has been doing this for 30 years.  I took her to dinner after my appointment last night.

In any case, the week is going to go very fast as I have another horse show next weekend and it is a 2 day show so I pretty much am going to live at the barn next week.

DH left again this morning to go work on a CT scanner in a small town - they only have one CT and it is "down" right now and there are no others for miles and miles.  Hopefully he will get it back running today but I think it is going to be a LONG day for him and then he has to drive 2 hours back home.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and will check in later.

Yorkie - said pussy cat just woke me up @ 5:15am wanting to go out - pest :) but I love her.

Jancie - I have a hairdresser trick - I go to the owner of the salon - less likely to leave. I've had her now since the late 90's.

Bren - you and I are on opposite sides of the weather enjoyability spectrum, for once. Today in DC was actually a day of great air quality with low humidity. It was, dare I say, tolerable. It always takes me all summer to get used to the heat.

Pet peeve. I'm at the skate park with my grandson. The rule is that you must wear a helmet to skate. More than half of the teens here refuse to wear helmets and then give the rangers a hard time when they are asked to leave the park. They are totally disrespectful. If they don't want to skate with a helmet, they should go somewhere else. One lawsuit over a head injury would close the park for everyone! Okay, rant is over.

Glenna - The problem lies with our entitlement society. I don't mean that economically, but behaviorally, and that is why young people have such crappy work ethic and show no accountability. Teenagers and children here are taught "you are wonderful, you are great, I don't want to say you're not perfect because it will affect your self esteem" (add soppy violins), so if you don't want to follow the rules, it's OK....you are just being true to yourself, and that's what MATTERS."

    ...and other bunkum.

I sound like a republican. I am when it comes to personal responsibility. The little buggers should be kicked out OR the management should enforce its rules. I was taught to rise to expectations from day one. Today's helicopter-parented children are taught that if something goes wrong, it's a grown-up's fault.

Thank you for listening to my rant. :-)

Personal responsibility is not conservative or republican.  It is the foundation of publicly funded services like libraries, schools, medicare and medicaid...  We all are personally responsible for the smooth functioning of society...  We are all responsible to the society.  So, I don't think you sound republican...  You sound like a responsible citizen...:)

Just did 9.79kms (6miles) on my bike - woohoo!!! Lots of bugs swarming in the air - so going out to buy some glasses or visor for the helmet. That will be my new distance for a week or so, then I'll increase it a bit more.

That's weird, I thought I posted about my purchases - I got some glasses to protect my eyes from the swarming midges, a toolkit and tyre repair kit and a bag to attach under the seat. I wouldn't have a clue what ot do if I got a flat tyre though.

Also, I invited Mardibra to join us here - like minded lady who has been harrassed by the unmentionables :)

Good morning. We had wonderful heavy downpours yesterday. We.ve been so dry for the last 3 years I'm sure I heard the trees sigh in relief. No grass in the front yard. The deer that overrun our neighborhood were actually frolicking in one leftover puddle.

I love the little fawns but I hate how they eat every bush and flower they can find. We have to cage any plant they are partial to. Working on planting stuff they dislike. Sage and rosemary bushes aren't on their menu along with lantana and esperanza. Hoping to do some yard work in the fall when this heat is gone.

Athena -- Reminds me of little kids:  one kid thinks playing tag is a great idea, but when his "arch enemy" says okay, all of a sudden he'd rather play soccer.  And then when his "arch enemy" on the playground brings out a soccer ball, the first kid decides tag is the better game.

Chick -- lantana and esperanza are new terms to me.  What do they look like?

Love what CLC says about personal responsibility - and can feel Athena's, Glenna's  rants in my bones.  No answers - just so sad to sense it's true.  MUCH less so in this very, very small community.  Notice a much, MUCH higher level of "civility" than I did in the larger cities where I used to live.  So appreciate the increased, well, kindness, I experience here.

That excludes teenagers - which is what Glenna was seeing too.  Personally, I think it will be wonderful if we do figure out a way to colonize Mars - and it's a place to folks to send those aged 13-19 when neededSealed

Is this their form of rebellion, Blue? Wink Mine took the normal route. Too bad for me, although they are showing signs of responsibility lately. Smile

No, I used the "cuppino" at strategic points in their lives!  They just laughed at the wooden spoons.  hahahahaha  I'm a child abuser!

Lantana has fuzzy leaves.  Deer don't like the texture.

Esperanza can grow really tall with lots of nice flowers.  I think they don't care for the scent on these, but I notice they never eat the neighbors so they must be yucky to them.

And I'll second Mary, please hurt me if I reply to the Alt thread again! Yell

    Good Afternoon!

I read the altie threads you guys are talking about.  I just steer clear of posting on them.  It's very tempting though!

I used to use the "one, two, three" count on Luke.  He thought it was funny!  Maybe I should have threatened him with that spoon.

Hope everyone is having a good day.
