The mom and mom's boyfriend are facing charges and jail time, but they don't have any money. The community and school had several fundraisers for the girl's family, so they feel very betrayed. It's a small community and a hit against the school district is a hit against the community.

My SIL was told it is DCIS again, that some remnant of a duct was somehow left behind. They certainly feared that it was IDC, but all tests on the tissue say no.

You can sue anyone for almost anything, and some plantiffs' attorneys (pas moi, btw) will file a case that they have small chance of winning at trial in the hopes of a settlement since the costs of trial are so high.  This seems to be that type of case.  Sorry to see attorneys abusing the system.

On DCIS, I understood when I got my BMX that I had a 1-2 percent chance of recurrence, which means it happens to someone.  Sorry it happened to your SIL, YarmAl,  but at least it's still DCIS.  

 Had my interview today.  Was told my name would be going on to the office manager, which is good, but that there's another 3-4 candidates for the same spot - less good.   Keeping fingers crossed.

Gutters fixed today.  Hope that resolves the water in the basement problem.

Now two of my friends have had to evacuate their homes due to wildand fire this summer.  One was my college freshman roomate - she had to leave due to the Waldo Fire in Colorado Springs last month.  Saturday night, my coworker had to evacuate her home near Shingletown.  Both national news stories.  Oh, add my Dad in for the historic Oakland/Berkeley fire in the early 90's.  Can't tell me there is no climate change; ...fires are more numerous, more intense and harder to control!

Yorkie, no obviously not meant that way. I should have said "passive" perhaps? I think it is important for kids and people in general to learn that they can act even if something unfortunate happens. In the BC that would be taking charge of your treatment, for example, advocating for yourself, exercising to lessen the impact of treatment and other stuff like that.

Momine:  you must not have caught the news.  Claude Aikins, who is running for Senate in MO, stated in an interview yesterday that he'd learned from several doctors that in the case of a "legitimate" rape, a woman's body would somehow shut down and not allow her to become pregnant - and that's why abortion is not needed for rape victims.   It's been hot and heavy on the news.

I wonder if the body recognizes age of consent?  Will it shut down and refuse to get pregnant if the girl is underage?  Or is statutory rape simply illegitimate?

What if it was his daughter?  Would he see it the same way?  Or would he sue on terms of statutory rape?
