Unless I'm hallucinating or it's only my computer playing tricks on me
-
Maud, that misalignment problem has been fixed - thanks for letting us know.
-
In Active Topics, it states how many posts are unread for each topic. I finally figured out why some say 1 unread when I've read them all. It happens when I've edited an old post. It's not all edited posts so I can't say what factor causes that.
The Australian Sisters topic has said 1 unread post since last month and nothing makes that 1 show as read.
Edit 1- Editing to test the theory though I suspect the post has to be older to cause the problem. Previously showing 0 unread posts.
Edit 2- It still says 0 unread posts. I'll test edit an older post from another topic.
Edit 3 - Still saying 0 after editing a post on the last page. But something is upsetting the count. I'll have to note all the topics where this happens.
-
The Natural Girls topic shows I have 10 unread posts in Active Topics even though I was listed as the last to post when I checked it in active topics.
-
Hmmmmm. Thanks. We'll take a peek.

Mods....thanks for all your hard work. Haven't been offically logged on for awhile but have seen all the effort that has been done to satisfy everyone. I have no devices other than my desktop and am very pleased with the result. Using a Dell XPS and Firefox Mozilla, latest version. Very easy for me.
-
Thanks for the nice note, Phyllis and for recognizing our hard work!! It's much appreciated
-
Moderators -- this seems to be a new glitch for me, but this weekend any conversation I view (without even commenting in it) gets added to my "favorite topics" -- I definitely have not done this myself.
-
Thank you, AnnNYC - we'll look into this!
-
Love seeing the table format back in the "Active Topics" -- it looks good on the iPad too.
I hadn't even been visiting that area after the original format change, but now it's much easier to browse.
-
Mods, just a question. Are you aware that there are pop up advertising being used on BCO. Words in posts are highligted and if you run the mouse over that word (and sometimes even if you don't) a pop up add appears. Don't know if it part of your fund raising but it is really annoying if you are reading and these thing jump onto the screen.
-
chrissy, can you tell us where you're seeing these popup ads? The thread or a specific URL, so we can look into it? Thanks!
-
There is one showing on the Active Topics page.............the word results is blue and underlined. that is the first one I saw. I have seen them on many threads one being 'Back to Chemo.......sad' in the stage IV forum. There are two words in the OP (more and jobs) and another further down in the same thread written by Runnr (working).
I can go through others I have seen them on if you want, just let me know.
Most of the pop ups are for gambling or gambling like competitions. I have tried to click on the cross to close them but they then open to a full page of where these adds are run from.
-
I'm always surprised that links are allowed for member's first few posts or first few weeks. Other forums automatically disable them till a member has become established so it cuts out a lot of the spam. It's distressing to see spam appearing so regularly on the "not diagnosed but worried" section.
-
Chrissy, I don't get any pop up messages on those threads. I moused over the words you mentioned. so it sounds like you have a virus. You might want to run an anti virus scan. We use the free Avast anti virus at home which you can download from their site. I can't advise on any other type apart from pre-installed Norton's which I found was awful, but maybe that was just me.
-
I ran one yesterday but I will do it again.
-
Just redid all scans and removed some spyware but nothing else came up. I rebooted and everything seemed okay and the highlighting had disappeared........for a minute and then just popped back. I don't know whats going on but I would really like to get rid of it.
Thanks Mods.

I am not able to do a direct copy andd paste paste on this site. If I opposite mouse click, I get a pop up with a paste option but when I click it, it does not paste the copied text. The Paste as Plain Text button works but requires copying and pasting twice, once from the original source to a separate window and then inserting it from that window into a post. Am I missing something or is there no way to copy/paste directly?
-
nancyjac,
Can you tell us the system and browser you are using so we can troubleshoot your problem?
Thanks
-
Mods I also have not been able to copy/ paste directly since the upgrade. I have mentioned this quite a few weeks ago but nothing has changed.
-
Windows 7 and Google Chrome.
-
Have this problem with the computer that uses the newest version of Internet Explorer (9). Doesn't happen with any other version of IE.
-
Thanks all. We will continue to work on better understanding the copying and pasting issues.
-
The copy/paste "issue" is not a bug. Microsoft has disabled copy/paste in the most recent browsers in order to prevent your computer becoming infected with a new virus that uses this feature to spread.

-
Also Firefox... and damn annoying it is too.
-
Susan,
Microsoft doesn't own Chrome so they can't disable anything in it. Also, I am able to cut and past from just about any other internet site, just not this one.
-
I was responding to gracie who mentioned IE9.

This site keeps producing "script not reading" and endless beachball on my MAC, which slows my whole computer down. When I don't log on and reboot, no problem. :-C
-
truebff, can you let us know the version of the OS and browser you're using, if it's on a computer or smart device, and what you're doing on the site when you get the error? Send a PM if you prefer, and we'll try to troubleshoot.
