    Ya she has an ear ache.  I heard it does wonders!  Sooooooooooo, if you ever have an ear ache or just a plain old ache in the ass, chew on a bone!  It's a big secret but the cure-all!  Those nasty pharmaceuticals know this but you know them......in it for the money and the vets are in on it too!

    Wait...I thought enemas were the cure-all? Now we have bones?



    I think the kitchen junk drawer will now be my medicine cabinet. I have bones and enemas in there (closer to the coffee y'know) as well as rubber bands, old packets of soy sauce and half -burnt birthday candles. There's got to be a cure there somewhere!

    What a hoot you all are!

    On another note the local walmart about a mile away has lost part of it's roofing. Haven't heard if it's wind or something else from this dang storm in the gulf!

    No one hurt, but it has been good for DH business. Lots of calls to start generators that aren't working with electric not working in the area.Smile No one wants to lose foods in the frig.

    ya'll are cracking me up!  I guess I need to go look in my junk drawer to see what I have lurking in there.  Surely there is something I can use.

    Scoot - it is 93 temp right now.  I need to go ride my horse but have been hesitating all afternoon.  I figure I at least have to wait until the dogs are fed before I head out of here.

    So glad we missed that Tropical Storm Debby and got out of Florida when we did.  Going there we had to divert to Gulfport for about 4 hours due to rain storms.

    What do they do with horses in Florida when the storms hit?

    Jancie, That's a good question. Most farmers don't even have barns for their animals, so my guess would be the animals are left to roam in the fields.

    Blue, sorry about your pup. Glad she's feeling better.

    Mary, eating acorn squash rind can kill a dog? Is it poison or did it cause an intestinal blockage? Have a coworker whose scatterbrained yellow lab, Emma, ate her son's plastic ball. Had to have very expensive surgery to remove it. Growing up, we had a dog (some sort of black mutt) who would get into the garden and eat green tomatoes and then barf them all over the backyard. She was very friendly, but not so smart.

    Thanks for the compliments on my kitties. *proud kitty mom* otter, it was either name her Swiffer or Mama's Li'l Dust Mop. Laughing The joke was made that I should just spray her with Pledge and turn her loose. Disclaimer - don't anyone actually do that!

    I knew that chocolate was bad for dogs (cats too? I think so), but I bought some homemade caramels the other day and Lucy was begging, so I gave her the tiniest pinch and she loved it. Swiffer did, too. Lovey is usually the biggest pig about anything that might remotely be edible, but she turned up her nose at the caramel. I ate the rest. Embarassed

    AFDB? Aluminum foil deflector beanie?

    Hi Everyone!

    It's hot here today too ... 92 degrees and the humidity is stifling.  Tank doesn't care though, and I still had to walk him through the fields.

    I had a couple of reports come in, so I was thankful for the work.

    Blue .. I am so sorry to hear about Lilah.  She is such a sweetheart.  I bet Virg is upset that she's not at home.  Sure hope you're able to bring her home tonight.

    I took Maggie to the vet this a.m. for a recheck on the surgery she had on her teeth and gums.  She's healing just fine and the surgery for her knee is scheduled for next Monday.  The vet bills are so damn expensive!

    Riley .. Your kitties are so cute!

    Scoot .. I'm so excited to read all your horses are home now.  Sounds like you had quite an adventure coming back from Oklahoma!

    I was in Florida last week and it was cooler there than my part of Ontario (Canada) at the time. Who would have thought it would be a good idea to go to Florida in June to escape the heat of Ontario?!  It's cooler now that I am home and there are no threats of hurricanes or tornados here.

    Burgers with meat from the Farmer's Market, baked potatoes and that's it. DH wants more he can get it. I made that much and am too tired to do more.

    Nothing exciting for me. I'm finishing up the beef stew I started Sat. night in the electric pressure cooker/crock pot. But I'll add a virtual gin and tonic to that. Skoal/Sláinte/L'Chaim!

    Actually, we had rasberry pancakes to make up for the breakfast we missed, and a specialty carmel latte on my Dolce Gusto coffee maker.

    Lilah's home.  They wanted to keep her an extra night but she would have been unsupervised there so I told them I'd rather have her home where I can feed her small amounts every couple hours and she will be sleeping with me in the spare bedroom.  Ray needs his sleep.  She's pretty out of it as they gave her an anti-nausea injection before they released her but I think she will be ok.  Her catheter moved and the IV went into the soft tissue of her arm so it's pretty swollen.  I'm gonna have somethng to say about that tomorrow when I take her back for a follow-up.  I'm glad to have her home with me where she will get real supervision.

    DH and I just went kayaking. I got him a kayak for his birthday in an attempt to get him to exercise. He uses it once or twice a week and the kids use it too. It is perfect kayking weather, on the seventies allday. There was a snake in my kayak. I chased it away. I don't know wha kind it was and don't really want to.

    I can understand the bone-for-an-earache remedy since chewing helps relieve ear pressure. Scary nonetheless.



    I like snakes tho my sister had one drop next to her while in the barn the other day. Snakes should NOT be in rafters! They need to be on the ground where we can easily spot their slithery selves!

    Hi girls - still away from home - fly out tomorrow - baby sitting the 7 week old and not happy - DH has him at the moment - seems to only want to be held - wasn't my idea to offer to mind him on our last night. I really think he is too unsettled to be left with virtual stangers even if we are his grandparents. He is quite gorgeous - will post a new photo when we get home. Looks just like his mother at that age.

    We spent a small fortune on wine - DH had a panic attack when I added it up.

    I was gonna try what my mom did when I had an ear ache.  She would make a cone out of a newspaper.  Put the thin rolled up end in my ear and light the outside with a match.  The smoke was supposed to kill any bacteria in the ear.  Of course there was always the danger of setting my hair on fire, but hey, what the heck, it worked.  Wonder if that would work for hemorrhoids.  hahahaha!
