Might end up in outer space if one had a fart attack!
Lilah is doing so much better today.

Oooohhh...I like snakes, but NOT falling out of rafters - very, very creepy. Hope everyone's heart is back to normal beating.
Athena - you are kidding, right? Someone really didn't pretend that? really...makes me wonder about what motivates some people, then I realize I do NOT want to know.
Enjoying gorgeous NE Spring weather - in the 50's as we head into July. Summer thunder storm yesterday, with HAIL. Confuzzling the humans, animals, and plants.
I am feeling SO much better - more energy, seems the Bitter Melon is the most likely culprit keeping my blood glucose levels waaaay down...whew! Thought the docs were gonna put me on meds, just couldn't deal with the thought of more meds. Need a map to get around my daily pill containers, seriously, between the meds & the supplements, can't count the number of them I take a day.
-
Susie - I thought that it is standard fare that 7 week old babies want to be held. They need to know that their world is safe. To me it's one of the great joys in life to be able to hold a baby, especially a grandchild. Everything else in the world fades away.

Blue, puts a whole new meaning to blowing smoke up someone's a$$. Who knew it was really a roid remedy?
-
The cure-all in my family growing up: molasses in hot water with some lemon and a spot of rum. Instant cure for all maladies.
-
Heading out for an early morning walk as it is going to be HOT today.
Did ya'll know that to get rid of a cold you put your own spit on your chest and the bottom of your feet? That was indeed news to me.
-
So where is everyone today? I hope I haven't killed this thread
-
jancie-That's usually my job!
I've been painting our guest room-formerly my son's room, but he's moved out now so I'm reclaiming it. Might as well be doing an indoor activity-it's been 55 and rainy here in Seattle all day. Bleh.

I have been at the ENT doctor with younger daughter.
She had 3 horrendous nosebleeds this week each lasting about 15 minutes.
(Did you know blood can come out of the eye during a very bad nosebleed?)
Sorry, too much information.
4 kids and this was a new one for me.
She had her nose cauterized and hopefully that will be the end of it.
-
Mary - love it when the kids move out and you can redo a room! Got one kid gone and her room has become a junk/storage room. I really do need to get in there and make it into a nice guest room.
The other kid - well he will move out sometime next fall I believe. He graduates from High School next year and I know he wants to have more freedom and show responsibility.
Ang - did the doctor say what caused the nosebleeds? How weird! There has to be something going on I would think.
-
Home again - minding the baby was really nice, I was just cranky temporarily when I posted. He is gorgeous and he likes me cuddling him - also loved Steve cuddling him. We had quite the touch. We spent the morning there before we left and we both got him to sleep again

Got home to find the first dozen wine at the back door - 5 to go I think.
Bummer - back to work tomorrow and I have no bread to make my lunch - I hate buying lunch but I'm sure I'll get over it. Can't wait to pick up Miss Poppy tomorrow after work.
Ang - I forgot to say hello to Chrissy for you - sorry - we had a wonderful time. It was SO great meeting her.
-
Blue and Momine ....you made me spit coffee all over the kitchen, which makes me think I should walk in it to ward off my brewing cold.
Ang...that is frightening, to say the least. I hope things settle down now. Ack.
Oddly cool but gorgeous weather here in the mid-atlantic. Enjoy!

Hey All!
Scoot .. You're right, the weather here has been lovely. Except it's supposed to hit the triple digits by Friday. How are you doing? Have you been on your horse yet? He's a beauty, but he's so tall ... I'm afraid of heights!
Ang .. So sorry to hear about your daughter. I wonder what caused those nose bleeds. Sounds like and episode of "True Blood" with blood coming out of her eyes. I hope she wasn't too scared.
Susie .. Glad you had a good visit with family. When my son was a baby, I never put him down. I just hugged him 24/7. Of course when he started to walk, he got a little more independent.
Mary .. I was a little traumatized when my son moved out and I converted his room to a guest room. He was so young then and I really missed him.
Well, I had a tooth pulled yesterday. Upper right molar. I cried through the entire ordeal. I feel like one of those characters on "Swamp People." The only good thing is you can't see the hole when I smile. Thankfully, the dentist supplied me with pain pills as it really hurt when all the novacaine wore off.
Hope everyone is doing well,
Bren

Ang-My son used to have nosebleeds all the time. He never bled from his eye, but I remember one time the toilet was filled with blood. I never had to take him to the emergency room, but it was always scary close. He had asthma and was on 2 types of inhalers and the doctor thought that might be a contributing factor in drying out his nasal tissues.I would say that dry weather might be a contributing factor, but here in Seattle, that seems unlikely. It seems like we, as parents, worry more about these nosebleeds than the doctors do. "Yeah, that was a nosebleed, alright..." seems to be the norm.
Susie-Totally understand the crankiness while babysitting! They're cute but lots of work.
I was ready for my kids to move out.
My daughter has been in and out twice already. I still see them all the time, they just don't live here anymore.Mary

My "kids" have been gone a long time. Right before they were ready to fly the coop, I was all depressed and anxious about it. About 2 days after the last one left home I was ecstatic!!!
-
Apparently my skills in settling the baby are worthy of trying - DD just wrote and said she tried the position I was using to hold him and he slept for 4 hours. HaHa!! She sure wasn't interested in any advice I tried to give last week. I was holding him so his tummy was sort of on my tummy and boob and he liked it.

Today is housecleaning and laundry day. Still trying to get back into the normal routine after my trip to Florida. Not too excited about having to work hard today but needs to be done as tomorrow is a play day with Jazzy. I may be showing her on July 14th for the first time this year. Not sure I am ready for it but I have 2 more weeks to get prepared.
It is flipping hot outside - not too bad today but yesterday after riding I got light headed and dizzy to the point my trainer had to walk my horse back into the barn and untack her for me. I even had totally soaked my head and my cross country vest but within 30 minutes I was bone dry.
Feels good to be inside in the cooler house today.
So what is everyone's plan for today?
-
Susie, my older brother's first baby had horrible colic, and Jay was the only one who could hold him without him crying. And he held him kinda like you're describing - diagonally across his stomach and chest. It looked awkward, but the baby loved it. (That 'baby' is now 6' 5", a pharmacist and the father of his own now 5 yr-old son.)
jancie, I should go work in the flower bed because tomorrow it is supposed to be 102° and Friday 100°, but I'm just lounging inside in front of the fan.

Nurse Blue has been taking care of her baby today. She is almost back to normal. 4 Different meds to administer.
My mom' birthday today so as soon as Ray gets home, we're heading down there and gonna eat cake. She's early stage Alzheimers so every memory counts. I try to see her a few times a week. She's a sweetheart, always has been.
-
Nurse Blue - How lucky you still have your mom - I lost mine when I was 25 and it's been a tough 42 years without her!
Glad Lilah is feeling better - four meds!!!! Yikes!
-
Yes I consider myself very lucky, because my mom and I are like sisters. It's sad what she is going through now. The Alz not only affects her memory but her movement as well. My dad is looking into getting a wheelchair for her.
Lilah is on antibiotics, anti-nausea, something to protect her liver from all the fat she ingested and an antacid. She had gone into hypoglycemic shock (due to all the vomiting) and was in and out of consciousness when I found her.
-
Mary~
Maybe that is it with my daughter?
She also has asthma and does inhaler etc.
They said her blood vessels were very close to the surface and inside of nose very raw.
Glad you had good baby time Susie.
Good news about Lilah, Blue...
-
Blue - hope Lila gets better soon
-
Blue sure hope Lila gets better quickly.
We finally have sun shine!

-
Ang-the doctor had my son put petroleum jelly inside his nostrils. He grew out of the asthma(pretty much) and the nosebleeds, for the most part. Putting a cold pack on the bridge of his nose, and tilting his head forward(not backward) helped when the flow was really bad. He still has one every once in awhile-he's almost 24-but not nearly as often as when he was younger.
Blue-glad to hear Lilah is feeling better. I was also visiting my mom today. She's 84 and while she does not have Alzheimers', she has become a very nervous, anxiety ridden person. It wears me out sometimes.

Re: Toad Suck Park is just off I-40 near Conway, Arkansas. "Toad Suck" is actually the name of a river crossing/ferry where a lock & dam were built eons ago. There's a park and campground there now, along with a convenience store that sells souvenir T-shirts etc. We take I-40 all the time when traveling from home to Tulsa.

I fell behind in my reading and have just caught up with all the ailments and afflictions. I'd like to offer some Brussel sprouts ("Brussel sprouts for the Cure?"), but I'm fresh out. Actually, I'm at my M.I.L.'s apartment, which brings up a long and difficult story, the telling of which I'm inclined to postpone until some other time. Hugs to all.

Just found out that my dh's nephew overdosed today so he will be heading out of state this weekend and will be gone for a week. So very sad. His nephew was the only child of his oldest sister.
Flat out SUCKS!
-
Gumby, you crack me up. When kiddo left for college, everyone was telling me how sad I must be. All I could think about was all the peace, quiet and free time I suddenly had. I mean I love the little bugger dear, but it is fine if she is notliving in my house all the time.
-
Happy happy Thursday, everyone!
Otter, thank you for the info about Toad Suck! I like that the residents own the name by having an annual festival - Toad Suck Daze. :-) I wish we could have stopped at Toad Suck Harley -Davidson - my BIL could use a tshirt!
Cheering for our great country today. Y'all know why. :-D

Scoot, yes, I was pleased to see that the supremos have the same good sense I have
. Always seemed to me that if you can make people pay for social security and disability, why not health?
