voraciousreader - the main reason I don't have touch mobile devices is because of the cost. I am quite happy with my home cable internet and refuse to pay the ridiculous rates that are charged here. Lots of consumer complaints over here from people getting bills for thousands of dollars. Still - two different renderings of this site would be nice.
-
Still doesn't work, I had to add as a friend first before I could send a message.
ETA>>>>Now I have it...it seems that it is necessary to fill in the subject line otherwise I get the error message.

To a degree I care who last posts in a forum. Not all the forums but most certainly the LE ones.
-
I'm liking the changes you've made to the new format and your efforts to continue to try to please all of us is appreciated! Maybe this has already been addressed somewhere else, but in my favorite topics I no longer see "NEW" for those posts that I haven't read. Not a huge deal, but I liked that I could easily spot which ones I hadn't yet read.
-
Ooops! When I go to BCO from my bookmarks it takes me directly to my favorite topics and it's there that I don't see the "NEW" posts... just clicked my favorite topics from the blue menu and they do show up there!
-
Susieq... Definitely way to expensive. And I, too, would love to hear if they could recreate a desktop version that includes the old active topics site.
Whether I a using a mobile or desk top or laptop, THERE IS TOO MUCH SCROLLING!
Moderators continue to pass along our concern, but there has been no answer either way, whether or not the tech folks will make this IMPORTANT improvement. -
People on the some of the treads I frequent are not happy with new format, and neither am I. I rarely go to look at the active topic section, as the list is too loud and confusing to read... 3 gals just said the same thing in one of my favorite threads...
Please send us all an update on the progress of fine tuning:) we'd all appreciate that.
Thanks.

Working on that now!
-
Hi Mods, can you tell us what has happened to the spead? It is way slow and seems to get stuck when posting. Thanks.
-
helllo Mods, I know you are working on this..........but I am unable to send a PM to a friend who I have been PM'ing for years as she is funny as heck.
She is listed as a friend.
Anyone else having this issue? I do have her personal email so I know she is not blocking me, the error messages reads that she is not accepting PMs at this time and the Mods (thank you) were able to PM her.
-
chrissy, hope it is back to normal now.
Sue, seemed like we may have resolved it by having the person make you a "friend"!
As for the active topics, starting next week, we will be working to get the active topics back to a table format! Thanks so much for your patience!
-
Mods, you mean to say the person we PM has to have us listed as a friend??
-
Btw, good news about Active Topics being changed.
-
Thank you!
-
thak you
seems all OK now w my PM buddy
-
Great news about active topics! Thank you for listening to feedback.
-
Marple, actually I don't think so. But in this case, yes. Was weird, indeed. Hopefully just a unique case.
-
Thanks Mods, the spead seems A-okay.
-
It would be helpful to have the total number of topics we're monitoring showing on our Favorites page, as it was on the previous format. Seeing how many threads I have bookmarked motivates me to clean out the inactive ones. Otherwise, my list tends to get overly long. Deanna

I'm not sure where to post this SO, I'll post it here. A PM from spam. Never had spam in a PM before. So beware.
Lymphedemanet is the user name.

Is there any way you can save a sent message in a draft site, like you can on yahoo and hotmail. I have absently not hit the submit button and totally lost a fairly long P.M.
-
dlb823, we added your suggestion to yesterday's list for the techs, thanks!
Marple, spammers do occasionally try PMs too. The Report As Spam link on every message will take care of them, or (as you did), send us a PM.
karen333, we're not aware of any plans to be able to save posts as drafts, but we'll forward the suggestion. If I'm writing a long post, I usually do it in a blank mail document or a text editor that I can paste from when it's done.
-
Thx Mods.
-
Moderators, anything to report from the tech people regarding the active topics?
-
I\m not techincal-savvy, like many posters here, I just want to add I REALLY dislike this new format - it is very claustrophobic - I feel like the breastcancer.org has imploded and collapsed onto itself. it feels MUCH less friendly. I'm wondering if you only consulted tech people who have no breast cancer story to share, and who do not feel they'd like to be part of something warm. it was a mistake, "fixing" what it seems to me didn't need to be fixed. right now I'm typing letters 1/4 inch high. Why? I havbe to scroll for miles up & down. Like living in a fishbowl. who needs such gigantic tabs on the left indicating Active Forums etc. WAY too big and clumsy. sorry I can't add any positive suggestions as I don't know much about computers - i jut feel you have taken something important - a close, warm, feeling, away.

OK, here is a technical question:
I save my pictures in Picasa. With the old setup it was easy to copy a picture over here (involving a right click on the mouse, copy and then control V once I was on BCO. The other day I was trying to post a picture, and after three hours of trying and looking up information (I am not exaggerating the time), I found I had to copy over the whole URL number to post the picture, and then it comes in really little (look at page 368 of the 'Lets Post Our Daily Exercise' to view). When I play with the dimensions, I can make the picture bigger but it is all distorted. Any advice, or is that just the way it is?
-
voraciousreader, we saw a new approach that didn't work because it didn't help with wanting to see more on a page without scrolling. They're still working on it.
flannelette, groups of active members were consulted in usability testing as changes were planned, and again before they were launched. The tech team continues to learn from members posting on this thread, thank you!
ruthbru, we'll look into an answer for you (seems your original picture was 144 x 144 pixels?) - off to play with Picasa!
-
I have noticed that we can no longer use just copy/ paste. I often use word to compose a long post as there are some gremlins that sometimes eat a long post composed on BCO. I used to just copy/paste but now have to go through a whole lot of rigmarole to get that composition into BCO. Can the copy/paste be reactivated so save a whole lot of time and frustration? Thanks
-
chrissyb, when you want to write a long post off the boards, try writing it in a blank email document, or in a basic text editor like TextEdit or WordPad. MS Word is known for picking up invisible formatting instructions from the original document, and including the code text when it's pasted.
