Happy Easter Everyone!
It's a beautiful day ... going to take the dogs for a walk in just a minute. Tim left very early this morning, so I'm on my own today.
Susie .. it depends on where you live in this country if Friday and Monday are holidays. On the west coast they are not. I live in the Bible belt now and they take Good Friday off here. The government offices are not closed on Friday or Monday.
Can't believe it's already noon ... need to get dressed and get busy.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter.
hugs,
Bren

Happy Easter all! Spent yesterday with the family so have the day to ourselves!
DH and I are going to go to the beach today! I love this time of the year here.
I also live in the Bible belt so school's were off Friday! Back to the grind Monday!
-
Susie, it even depends on what part of the region you live in, here in the U.S.
Like Bren, I live in the Bible Belt (Alabama). Here, the public schools and offices are not closed either Good Friday or Easter Monday. Apparently, some of the school systems had designated Good Friday as a "snow day"; and because this past winter was so mild, those schools were closed on Friday. That would not have been the case if there'd been a big snow or ice storm, though -- the "snow day" would have been used during the bad weather, and kids (and teachers) would have had school on Good Friday.
Some of the stores here are "religious" in their leanings -- Bible verses posted on the walls; always closed on Sundays. But, even those businesses were open on Good Friday and will be open on "Easter Monday."
otter (retired, so always on holiday)
-
Otter - a dear friend, also retired, like me, and YOU, calls it living a "Saturday Life." I love that expression - no longer a day to squeegie in all the chores you can't do during the week, but a day to DO what you WANT to do, wake up when you want to - boy, do we deserve this Saturday LIfe!
-
Otter, I love that retired always on holiday. I'm so lookin forward to that! Another 7 years seems so far away!
-
I wish we could afford to retire.
Interesting you have different holidays depending on where you live. Our shops are closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but open on the other days. Although I did see that the big hardware warehouse was open yesterday.
-
Finally gave in and went for a bike ride with Steve today - phew - I threw a big tanty on the way home - really shouldn't try to show off and go as far as he wants - I'm definitely not up to it. Across my upper back hurt, my thighs hurt, my bum hurt, my hands hurt - gosh I'm a whinger
Got home covered in sweat and cried a lot.
We watched the final round of the US Masters - love that Bubba Watson won - for some reason I love watching golf. Getting up at 4am to watch it has messed Steve up though. I was more lazy and started at 6.
Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend. I can't wait ot get back to work to rest.
Miss you Blue!!!! - come back please. Hope you're ok.
Unfit Susie -
Oh susie, you haven't heard whinging until you've heard me on a bad day. I can out-whinge anyone. In fact, I may change my Olympic aspirations from riding to whinging. I'd bring home the gold.
Re: retirement. I don't even know what day it is most of the time. And for someone who used to be ridiculously and obsessively early to everything, that's a disaster. I'm now nearly-tragically late for most things. In fact, I've made a game of how close I can cut it at the airport. WHAT? I know! And I used to get there 3 hours early for a domestic flight. Now I consider myself successful if I dive through the door just as they're closing it. It's madness, I tell you!
Happy Easter Monday and hugs to all!

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a great Easter/Passover.
It is raining here, and my cats are meowing like crazy to go outside, but I don't let them go outside when it is raining.
I am trying to do some correcting and finding it difficult. I can't seem to concentrate...instead I keep googling anything I can about MRI results and ADH. I am impatiently waiting for my bx results and hoping I hear B9, B9, B9. I hate waiting for results....sigh
I hope everyone is having a good day.
-
Hugs for you, CA! Chanting B9B9B9B9BB9........!
-
B9 thoughts at you, Mary.
Scoot - I'm still counting on you to bring home a medal. Don't let that fool Arimidex fool you into thinking you can't.
-
If I don't earn one I'm going to make my own from shiny yogurt lids. I'm getting one, one way or another!
-
I left a message for my onc asking him to write a prescription for a horse. Hey, he started this!
-
SCOOT - fabulous - wish we could all see the look on your onc's face! He better watch out for his big toe.
Thanks for the smile...needed that today.

Good Afternoon!
I was mowing the back forty when the riding mower conked out on me .. so now I'm taking a break. Poor thing overheated and it's so old, it's probably wishing I would quit mowing the lawn.
Scoot ... I love your new request for an Rx.
Mary .. Thinking of you and hoping for benign!
Sunflowers ... My iris' are in full bloom. I need to remember to take a pic for you. They're a wonderful deep purple color and look like velvet.
Hope everyone is enjoying their day,
hugs,
Bren

It rained all day here, such a bummer. In good news today, I got all my blood work back from my first ever post-treatment check and it all looks good. Here is a weirdo thing though, and maybe some of you experienced ladies know. They did a dexa scan on my spine and hip as a baseline before the femara kicks in. My hip is A-ok and has better density than normal for my age. My poor spine, however, has osteopenia. What is up with that?
-
Momine - redo? That just sounds like TOO MUCH of a difference, from better than "normal" to osteopenia in the same person??? Hope someone who knows a LOT more than me about this will chime in ( that means everybody) - just seems curious.
Congrats on the first post treatment visit. The first few "post" ones were very traumatic for me. I didn't want them to "find" anything - but heck, we all know what they're LOOKING FOR!!!! jeez-
Now's a good time for you to make sure you're getting all the GOOD nutrition you need, exp. on Femara. I've been on Arimidex for almost 5 years - and swear it's the Vitamin D3, calcium, magnesium, all that stuff that's kept me mobile.
Bren - I LOVE iris. My grandpa used to have them in his garden, and I was always amazed when he "lifted" them, tossed them on the compost pile - and they BLOOMED. I hope all of us can be as successful as IRIS in our bloomings...
-
Sunflower, my doc didn't even mention it and didn't seem to be bothered about it. He did say that he wants me to take calcium with D3. I also started taking a supplement called osteoflex, it has turmeric, manganese, glucosamine and chondrotin.
-
Momine,
The calcium will also have magnesium in it - usually a 2 to 1 ratio. There's a book many fund valuable regarding nutrition, etc. Anti Cancer by David Servan Schreiber ( sp?).
Osteoflex is well mnown here too. Keep an "eye" open if you have raised glood glucose levels - seems the combination of glucosamine/chondrotin can effect it. I had to stop taking it for that reason. But then, I'm OLDER, and diabetes is in my "genes" too.
-
covertanjou - I had 2 spots light up on MRI - both were ADH/ALH - surgeon cut them out. What does your MRI report say? Have you seen it? I get where you are coming from, not sure if I can stand going for the mammo this week. It seems like you have been having a rough ride with so many biopsies - it would drive anyone crazy.
Scoot - you didn't hear me screaming at the bloody bike because the gears wouldn't change
I had a good thought, maybe Steve won't ever want to go riding with me again after yesterday. -
Susie, I haven't seen the MRI report. I was just told there was a suspicious area. My dr is back from holiday tomorrow, so I am calling first thing tomorrow to get the results of bx. This is the second bx in 1.5 months. First one was ADH/FEA, necessitating MRI, so I am hoping this bx is B9. We'll see. Good luck on mammo next week...I;m hoping that everything is all clear.
-
We will be in your phone very quietly holding your hand. The wabbit promises to fold her ears. My mouth will not open and otter vows to bring no fish and scoot willpark the horse at CVS. We'll be with you.
Sorry - cell phone has no commas! -
What our dear lioness said: we will be there.
otter
-
Covert -- We shall all be very "covert" and quiet while we wait to hear the news from your doc. And of course B9B9B9 will be silently mouthed by all of us!Otter -- your cousin (a gorgeous river otter) was on the Tonight Show last week, and of course I thought of you! He was such a handsome -- and squirmy -- little guy!
-
Chanting B9 for Mary. And if they make you wait much longer for an answer we are all going to make the strangest posse ever when we gather to go kick some a$$.
Scoot ... I went to Google to check spelling on posse (yes, I'm that bad at spelling these days) and they had pictures of somebody riding a horse right there on the Search page ... another omen!!!
-
Mary - I'm sure you will be totally boring
(((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))
-
Ouch - now I'm being called a troll on the Alt forums - I give up. If HER2+ve patients are too stupid to take the treatment why bother.
-
Susie, I have to try not to read some of those alt threads, because it makes me cross-eyed. I am all for alternatives to toxic treatment, and I do fervently hope that cancer treatment will improve in future to be less barbaric. I have made some diet changes because of the cancer, I am dilligently trying to improve my exercise level etc.
But when people start to talk about turning down conventional therapies that are standard of care and highly recommended by their docs, when they opt out of surgery or insist that there is no advantage gained with chemo, when they inject themselves with useless substances, like mistletoe, and then get upset when you question them, because you are not supposed to take away their hope or question "belief," then I find it is time to stop reading.
-
Momine - I have given up - the offender conveniently edited her post to remove the nasty bits. I deleted my post as I didn't want to upset them any further.
