What day - it was 27 degrees celcius and gorgeous - not humid. I wish we could have that weather all year round.

I am absolutely totally pooped. Car washed, vaccuumed and windows cleaned, washing done, brought in and folded, bed changed, garden watered, planted my new gardenia and some new baby basil plants, weeded the front garden sort of, cooked Barramundi and beurre noisette with mash and beans - yumm. Just sorted out Steve's shirt drawer - he has the most free golf shirts I've ever seen - couldn't close the drawer. So, I've removed all but a few crappy shirts for the gym and gardening. He's got his normal polos and 3 special golf shirts too - now the drawer closes really easily. The other crappy ones thrown in a cupboard.

Boy do I miss those times when I was off work, it was so great to get to do stuff. Shopping tomorrow and then I can rest.

Going to treat myself to some new floor mats for the car now it's all clean.

    Pooped Susie

susieq58 what a busy day you have had. It does feel good though when the work is done.

Today will be the busy day for me. I will be getting the house ready for the entire family to descend for Easter Sunday Morning. We will be doing the usual Easter Egg hunt with the grand kids, and then having a brunch. I am still trying to decide what to make. I don't know why but nothing seems just all that interesting to me this year in the way of food. If you guys have some great suggestions I would love to hear them.

Yramal sorry about the water problem. Keeping fingers crossed it will be covered.

Susie, I see you "met" with your fish guy! (Under the cover of night maybe?) I think I find it so funny because one of my kids sells sports jerseys out of his locker at school. Still don't know what to do about the little entrepeneur. I keep telling him he's going to get into trouble....I'm just waiting for the phone call. In the back of my mind though, I'm laughing my butt off wondering what the principal is going to do if he finds out. Jerseys????, not pot???

oooooooohhhh, Athens, GREECE.  Now I REALLY wanna have dinner at Momines...downright jealous...alas.  It's lovely today, sunny, cool, and my favorite time of the year, SPRING.  Everything seems to be blooming, budding, waking up, just love it.

Yramal - fingers crossed for good insurance coverage.  It is SUCH a mess to have water damage. Beware of MOLD, if you have allergies.  Those carpet liners seem to be the worst culprit.

For all my A Team ( any AI) sisters - who are dealing with the dreaded "vaginal atrophy"- I am now a believer in ORGANIC COCOA BUTTER, even better than coconut oil.  Pain free for days - almost afraid to write this....but want to make sure others with the SE's of AI's know.  Also acupuncture to stop the joint pain..

Happy Passover and Happy Easter to all...

Cool that so many of you have been down here and would like to come visit.

Times are obviously bad right now, but we are doing OK. Thankfully we have private health insurance, and it paid for the whole nine yards in a private hospital. Generally, when Greek docs are good, they are as good as anywhere, as far as I can judge.

Still waiting for the insurance adjuster to call me back........I'm mentally preparing myself for them to say this is not covered. Natural settling or something like that. Then I'll be pleasantly surprised if it is covered. I'm  just worried about all the work I'm going to have to take off for plumber estimates and so on, and when the work is actually being done.

My homeowner ship is also sinking.  Lots of money heading out the door for new HVAC and water heater.  BUT, I found a trusted local guy who can do the job for $2,000 less than our local utility.

Good luck with all that, Mary.  Maybe your insurance company will surprise you!  I sure hope so!

    Hi Everyone!

Mary .. geez .. I am so sorry to hear about your water damage.  I hope you don't have a huge sinkhole and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that insurance is going to cover this problem.

Scoot .. I needed to turn the furnace on last night and the thing wouldn't work.  I actually had to go in the dreaded basement and figure out how to reset the old giant.  The oil furnace is about 50 years old.  Would love to have a new HVAC system, but that's not going to happen.

What's everyone doing for Easter?  Tim will be on the road so we'll bbq tomorrow.  I'll be on my own for bunny rabbit day.  I kind of wish I had a chocolate bunny right about now.

It's really cooled off .. I imagine Athena is enjoying this weather!

Hope everyone is having a good Friday.  Here in the south, it's a regular holiday and everyone is home today.

    hugs,

    Bren

gracie - The fish guy actually has premises (a factory) which you can visit if you want by prior arrangement. They have several trucks that park at all of the different farmers markets here. There's one in the city every Wednesday, but I'm too lazy to go to it before work - too far from my office. I tend to go to a market closer to home once a month. I get a couple of lots of fish and freeze it - doesn't seem to affect the quality. He used to park at that servo every fortnight but stopped - it was a special occasion yesterday. I originally found them when they parked at my fruit and veg shop every Saturday - loved the quality and stuck with him. He lives quite close to me and if I wanted, I could get him to bring stuff home - but I never know what I want until I see it.

Mary and Scoot, I am sorry for your travails. I always complain about the exorbitant rent I pay, but I am so glad that anything gone wrong is just a phone call to the lobby away.

I'd be living in a tent if I had to shelve out cash like that every time something went wrong.

These boards are truly, truly amazing these days. What Rosemary said! Elsewhere, I have just read the most dense, patronizing post in reaction to another's bad experience. Sometimes it's best to say nothing and keep questions to oneself.

(Will put paw over mouth to follow own advice....just one more thing....

    thank you. :-)  )

Athena, I agree with you re: renting vs. owning. When credit/mortages were easy, people were yelling at me to buy. I knew I could afford mortgage payment, but all the other stuff was out of my ability on my salary.

Well, the plumbing saga will continue past the weekend. The insurance adjuster wanted a plumber's opinion before making his decision, so I was able to get a plumber to come in today. Looks like whoever put in the downstairs bathroom(not us) took some construction shortcuts that are not going to be easily fixed. The plumber asked me if we wanted it fixed "good enough" or fixed right. I told him we want it fixed right. He told me that was a job for his supervisor to evaluate and estimate, so the supervisor is supposed to call and set up an appointment with me for next week to go over our options. I'm sure none of them are cheap.

In the meantime, I can use my washing machine with caution, but not my downstairs toilet or shower. We weren't using them that much anyway, so as long as I can still use my washer, I'm fairly calm. We're having company for brunch on Sunday, so it should be fun to see the reactions to the hole in our floor.

    Sending (((hugs))) to Scuttlers ...

Quiet morning here so far.  We had frost last night so good thing we covered up all the flowering plants.

Mary ... hoping that insurance will help with your plumbing problems.  You sound remarkably calm by the way.

    Happy Easter to all!

    Good Morning!

I am just devastated by Scuttlers latest scan.  This news sucks.  I hate cancer.  My best friend just found out her bone mets are also in the bone marrow.  And she is now at risk for breaking her shoulder/arm.

Getting ready to head out and do a bunch of errands.

Hope everyone has a great day,

    Bren

Calm? Not really, but what can I do, other than get the process in motion to get it fixed. My husband would laugh his heaad off if he thought someone said I was calm. I am a born worrier. There was a comic this week in the paper, "Baby Blues". The parents were laying in bed and the mom says, "What if Zoe hates middle school? What if she doesn't get a job?" "What if our car breaks down?" and so on. The dad gets up and leaves and she says, "Where are you going?" He says, I'm getting out of your worry zone." That's me and my husband in a nutshell.

I have a faith in a God that doesn't make bad things happen, nor does he operate like a cosmic vending machine, giving us what we want if we only pray hard enough. I just believe that He is there with me, holding my hand through whatever I have to go through. I think that helps keep me calmer than I would normally be.

I am so sorry to hear about Scuttlers and all the other people here who are suffering. I wish them peace and healing.

It is a beautiful day here in Shoreline! Sun and blue skies! I think I might wash my windows, but that might encourage my pscho robin visitor. He came back yesterday for a little while.

I wish everyone a Happy Easter and special time with their families. He Is Risen!

YEAH, what HL said.  I don't wanna do another @$%#!! rant on this @$%!#@! disease, but damn, just DAMN, DAMN, DAMN.  It is so hard to see how many are in such pain with it...

I know bc is really not just "one disease" and there are so many variants, but DAMN, where's the cure.  Or at least looooooong, life NED.

Crazy Susie doing housework - vacc'd upstairs and washed the kitchen and bathroom up there - downstairs tomorrow. I want to get the bug man in to spray and like to have the floors washed before he does it, so there's no time like the present I guess.

I forgot to tell you, I scheduled my 6 mthly mammo and u/s for this coming Thursday. Got to say I was hoping I'd have to wait longer for an appt. Don't really want to know if anything's going on - too upset about Scuttlers and everyone else who is Stage IV - bc is crap!!!

Had a fight with Steve - he's gone off to the golf driving range. So, I ended up vacuuming the downstairs floors too - now I can rest tomorrow. Washed our ensuite, but the tiles in the family room can go without this time - stuff it.

Totally buggered now, will just sit and do nothing for the rest of the day - still glorious weather.

How many days do you get off for Easter? We get Friday and Monday - nice
