Survivor, My Yoga teacher also makes us stick our tounge out and roar too! She calls it, "Lion".

OK so I have altered my jumping jacks routine, 30 today!

Instead of the jumping up and down, I now jog in place (high knees if I can) and do the jumping jacks arms. I think this may be safer (?) and it feels smoother to me, anyway!

Last night was 370 calories on the elliptical in 45 minutes. Today is a night of rest! I am hoping we can get in at least one bike ride this weekend!!

Keep moving! Kari, YAY for biking!!!!!

Survivor, Yay for Biking and YOGA too!!!!

    Spring, awesome calorie burn!

Just got invited to do a half marathon with a girlfriend. I haven't run that distance in 2 years. I went and said yes. What was I thinking! I still have a cough from rads and 10 extra lbs!!! Anyway, I will have 2 months to train. Thinking of ways to get out of this.....

Cdairth, OMG!! I once ran 2 miles, that is my big accomplishment in running, and the emphasis is on ONCE!! You Go Girl! That is over 13 miles right? Will you actually run the whole thing without stopping? (I am in awe of you!)

Today it was misty and drizzly but we rode bikes anyway. Covered with mud and dirt and grit but happy too! Nobody was on the greenway, it was like we had the woods and paths and creeks to ourselves. :)

I am feeling like a bit of yoga. My husband is watching God Father marathon on TV, I think I will sneak away, he he he.

I hope you all find the opportunity to move move move this weekend too!!! :)

Spring, Well, the plan is to run the whole thing (by run I mean jog), but we shall see. I walked for an hour today and tomorrow is Pilates and bike intervals. It sure sounds like you live in a nice area. My hubby spent the day watching The Godfather also.

Another 14 miles on the bikes today. 51 degrees so cool, we had to bundle up! But I felt so cleansed at the end. It was a great work out! I ate half a Red Velvet cupcake with no guilt (before the ride). I figured the exercise would flush out the glucose ! (I hope!)

I like the sound of the modified jumping jacks!  Busy weekend with my granddaughter, pushed her in stroller to the park a couple of miles, that worked my legs!  climbed up slides/stairs, what fun!  Yesterday my DD and I took baby girl to the mall, can you believe we spent a couple of hours in the Disney Store?  We had a blast actually, we were all wiped out, didn't get home til after 7pm!  I'm feeling it today, sluggish...yoga class tonight!  I have sore hamstrings today, LOL - guess I am a granny after all Undecided

    Hello, my lovely cheerleaders!!!

I've been MIA - we've been down at our timeshare in Laguna Beach, and just got back Friday night. I didn't want to go....(waaaaaaaa, would take too much energy) but DH really needed it. He had to deal with his own kidney disease all last year, then care for me after my BC dx, then take care of both his elderly parents' health crises by himself. So off we went.

The weather was gorgeous, and except for Monday, when it rained and we spent the day in our second-floor room watching the storm come in from way out in the ocean, we walked and walked and walked. Of course, I looked like an 80 year old woman, hanging on to the stair rail so hard my knuckles were white...

One day we walked so far up and down the beach that when we got back, I said "I'm going to lie down for a minute" and slept for four hours! So much for my sucky stamina! Undecided

On Thursday, we took our lawn chairs down to the surf, and DH set up the video camera. We wanted to take a video of the waves and the sounds of the water and the birds so we could make a relaxing DVD for our flat-screen TV at home.

While he was doing that, I was running around taking pictures of shells and driftwood. It's a protected marine tidepool so you can't collect anything. Underneath my shirt, I had on one of those little camis with the shelf bra. I took my shirt off, and with just a cami and jeans, I stood there in the surf and felt........NORMAL!!!!

I didn't feel like a breast cancer patient. I didn't notice the boulders (TEs) under my cami. I just felt wonderful in the sun and the breeze and the beautiful surroundings.

The only thing that was disappointing was the fact that I had such little energy, everything wore me out. I thought each day the walking would be easier but it wasn't, and now I'm dealing with a big honkin' fibromyalgia flare.

In 2 and a half weeks, I'll be starting on the Optifast program at Kaiser, and our exercise will be very limited until we get used to the program. In the meantime, I'll keep walking, and find some other, creative ways to keep moving like it sounds all of you are doing!!!

Thanks so much for this thread!!!!

Cath, I am very impressed that you're going to do a half-marathon!  Good for you!

Blessings, Laguna Beach sounds heavenly!  So glad you and DH could get away!

Spring, as always, your long bike rides inspire me!

Nothing new for me -- just walking and gym.  I swear, one of these days I'm going to try a PIlates class.

Today was a 6 mos. onc visit for me.  I decided to show him the results of the Complete Hormones Test I'd had done shortly after I saw him last fall, and I got the response I figured I would -- an amused smirk... some rolling of the eyes, etc.  Oh, well.  He's a wonderful onc, but hopefully my ND knows a lot more about hormones.  He did tell me multiple times how wonderful I look, and he noted in my file (he dictates into a little recorder) that an ND had done "some sort of test" that showed my estrogen was very low.  I'm actually slated to do another 24-hour hormone test this week and I'm anxious to see if we're making headway.      Deanna

Ladies: so happy to hear we all are moving around and inspire one another. I am not sure if it was Kate or Cath who does yoga by candle light, but thank you for the idea. I did an hour of power yoga at home by candlelight last night and it was amazing! Loved it! From now on I will do it like that. It made a difference. I did it so well that I am sore today. Anyway, so far at work, I managed to do 20 of Spring's modified jumping jacks and 40 regular ones. I will try to continue throughout the day. I have a survivor meeting today and this might be all the exercising I will get.

Joanna- your water side experience sounds so wonderful and a Big Woohoo to feeling "normal" again. It will get better....

Deanna: I can visualize the face of your onc when you told him about your ND's testing. How great it is that you can do something "extra" that the onc would not even think of. As soon as I am done with my treatment I will see an ND too. I am thinking about going to see Nan Lu (TCM) doctor who wrote a book on breast cancer. I am saving for it.

Spring and Cath: both of you inspire me tremendously! (half a marathon? and 14 miles on the bike? WOW! WOW! WOW! )

Wishing you all a great day and lot of moving around!!!!

So far I've had two walks today -- one with the dog and one w/out.  Planning to go to the gym with DH tonight, and about to get up from my chair for a few jumping jacks.     Deanna

Deanna, that link was worth sharing, makes me angry!!!

Didn't make it out of the office today at lunch, its so WINDY and cold out and at lunch was rainy, far cry from yesterday when I was able to walk on the trails at lunch. I am going on a quick walk at the mall after work before I have to report to babysitting duty.

Blessings, Laguna Beach sounds wonderful!  Did I ask you before where in Calif. you are?  I could related to when you wrote you felt Normal.  There are so many times I say that, and your description sounded wonderful!!!  The optifast sounds intriguing, best of luck with it!

Hmmm Yoga by candle light. That is worth trying!

Today I did 45 on the elliptical and that was 385 calories! During work I was able to do 30 modified jumping jacks, and I pumped a weight 12 x in each arm. It was a kooky day so I consider this a success!

Deanna, I can just see your Onc's expression! Mine would hide the expression, but she would think the same thing. She told me essentially there is no use testing any hormones because they are changing all the time. However, mine are always the same! ha! They tested them again at the ONC's office last time I went end of January. I asked to go 6 months, but they did the hormone test and said one more time at 4 months out.

But, the most significant thing about your visit, is that he noticed you look terrific. This is because you are exercising and eating healthy. You are probably doing a million other things too. So much so it SHOWS!!! I get comments like this too, they are particularly inspired by my husband (he comes to my onc appts) because he lost 65-70 pounds because of our exercise and healthy eating. I've lost like 10-15, but I also look much healthier, I can see it myself. There is something about a sedentary person with Western diet. There is a look about it. I hate to say this, but have any of you noticed this? I think I spent most of my adult life myself like this, but no more!

Go PTDreamers!!! Yes, it's a start! Find what you like and keep doing it!

ORGANIC IN CHINA??? CUT ME A BREAK!!! I don't even let my DOG eat food from China. I do not trust the quality control at all. Can you believe Whole Foods!!!???? SHame on them!!!

Thanks Deanna for the video. I kind of knew that 365 products were no longer organic. There was something about it in the New York Times about two years ago or was it Mother Jones magazine? i don't remember. But I don't usually buy 365 products anyway. On the other hand, I still think that Whole Foods' fresh, not packaged, organic stuff is truly organic. But watch out for the farmers at the farmers' markets, too. They won't tell you that they use pesticides unless you ask them. Just because their produce is local, it does not always mean it is also organic. After my MX last year I practically interviewed all the farmers at the local farmers' market. I was shocked to find out that only 2!!! farmers out of 8 did not use ANY pesticides.

Good for you Ptdreamers doing yoga . Any amount of time is better than nothing at all.

Yeah! Spring- yoga by candel light is very spiritual. Even though I did it with a dvd in the background it still felt almost like being in a yoga class. Try it, too!

Speaking of which I was only able to do 120 modified jumping jacks and original jumping jacks combined today. I will make up for it tomorrow. I intend to do an early morning bike ride. If all goes well. H got food poisoning from foods he ate in the city somewhere. He is in pain.  So we'll see. There is always something.

Heeeeey Harley! Great to have you back!!! Yes, the nice weather is back and it is time to get our running shoes on. Good for you.

I went to the park and did a 4 mile ride, 80 jumping jacks, 25 modified jumping jacks and some yoga stretches. I felt great being outdoors. I even sat on a tree trunk and meditated for 15 minutes.

    Keep on moving Ladies!

Harley-- Remember the 10 minute rule! And this is for everyone. Walking, jumping, bike riding, yoga moves.....anything goes....

Hi Ladies: running to the hospital. I was, thankfully, approved for the Lynch syndrome test(controversial colon cancer-breast cancer link). So I am doing blood work both at the cancer center for next week's Herceptin and the genetic testing. I think I should take a break on exercising today. I will lose a lot of blood and might be tired afterwards. We'll see later....

Been trying to squeeze in my walks somewhere the past 2 days, busy schedule!  But I managed to do 20 minutes on Tuesday and 25 minutes yesterday.  Stuff going on at lunch time and babysitting after work makes for one tired ME! LOL...Getting ready for my normal routine walk in about 15 minutes.  Finally, looks nice out there again today, we had crazy winds/cold weather hit us the last 2 days.

Spring, I love when my Onc tells me how great I look!  Sure makes me feel wonderful!

Survivor, thinking of you as you go through your testing.

    Harley, THERE YOU ARE!!!!!!!!

Everyone keep moving and inspiring one another, I love it!

Aqua-Fit sounds like a lot of fun, Joanne!  I wish that was available around here.

Interesting about the Lynch syndrome testing, survivor.  Do you have reason to think you could be at risk for colon cancer, or is it related to being Her2+?

Did you all see this new research yesterday?  Evidently, exercise actually changes our DNA! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/06/exercise-changes-your-dna_n_1324452.html

You know, speaking of complements, it's funny, but I have had quite a few people, including some strangers, recently comment on my appearance.  One of the funniest ones was when the woman giving out cheese samples at Sprouts loudly gushed, "You look sooo good!"   She was probably just hoping to sell more cheese, LOL,  but it still made me feel really good about the choices I'm making.

On another happy note, I just got the results of Monday's bloodwork from my onc's office, and I feel like I can breathe again.  You all know the feeling -- you don't expect anything to be wrong, but knowing we can be blindsided, it seems like we stop breathing until you hear for sure that everything's okay.

I walked this a.m. and plan to go to the gym later.    Deanna

I want to try Tai Chi. That's on my list! Never heard of Aqua Tai Chi though! How interesting...

So it was warm enough and light enough for a nice bike ride after work! 50 minutes and 10 miles on the bike. Nice! It is light now until ~6:30. Love the light! Planning to go again tomorrow after work if not raining.  cooler though, that's okay.

Deanna, cool about exercise changing your DNA!!! Who knew! That is incredible!  Maybe that's why it works to prevent recurences?

    Kari,

    Thanks!

    Deanna,

Glad to hear that your bloodwork was GOOD!  I know about the anxiety before my onc. appt. but I hate to say it...  but, not just my onc, but ALL of my dr. appts. and tests, I just don't feel better even when all the tests come out good.  Maybe I am a constant worryer, and I really try NOT to worry obsessively... but I always wonder if they did ALL the right tests, or if by some fluke, everything looks ok, but there still is somthing wrong?    or am I the only one who feels this way?

My FIVE year cancerversary is coming up NEXT WEEK!!   March 15th....  wow!   Hard to believe that I am reaching this milestone.

    Hugs to all

Harley - so good to hear you have reached your 5 year miles stone. Woohoo! Great news!

I know the feeling of being worried, Harley, but I try not to do it too often. We do the best we can to boost our immune system by exercising, eating well and thinking optimistically. The rest we cannot control. That is how things are. And I have accepted that life changes continuously. And that one day there is an end to it.  For us, cancer survivors, facing our mortality came too early. By the way did you see this video? It is about a 108 years old lady -Alice Herz Sommer- who is both a cancer as well as a Holocaust survivor. Amazing! Very inspiring!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj-RJ4k9c04

(form the video: Oh, and I DO AGREE that classical music is healing to the body)

Harley- Please don't worry about anything until the doctors tell you otherwise.
