To the best of my knowledge, Indiana Representative Bob Morris is not running for President.  Does Sunflowers know something about the subject that the rest of us don't?

The Girl Scouts at the national, corporate level have made some decisions in recent years that are not fully in line with their mission.  Once those decisions are made public, or even released to the general membership, the members of the organization, and the parents of the younger members quickly, and forcefully express their concerns, and many of those decisions are quickly reversed, or amended, frequently before the new policy is implemented. 

The Girl Scouts have a three year cycle for their national conventions, so many decisions made in between those major gatherings are made at the executive level, and may not be fully in line with the attitudes of the general membership. 

One huge difference between the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts is that BSA excludes some people because of who they are, while GSUSA is more concerned about their leaders' words and actions in front of the girls than about how they live in their private lives. 

Thanks WR - we have had a cool change and some rain, but Summer can't be over too soon for me.

Big headlines here yesterday when our Foreign Minister (previously Prime Minister) resigned - big fight looming in the next few days. Steve and I are loving every minute of it. Our current government is the total pits. Hope we have an election soon.

Work is driving me crazy - it's like working in a concentration camp. Got into trouble for working on 2 things at once - good grief. The bird that's running the show is pathetic. Still, I'm getting some good work done - hope it's eventually appreciated.

(eyeroll about the craziness out there -- forcing doctors to lie and men desperately attempting to control women AGAIN!). Agree totally with WR, 3M, Sunflowers, Athena, Lindasa, Scoot.... Enough already. We who are old enough to remember are not too old to take to the streets again, and are gearing up to do so. 3M, you are right. We should show the youngsters just what they are heading toward if they don't wake up!

And here's to our sisters (including my own beloved sister Linda who died last week) who we lost to this vicious disease. My heart breaks anew every day thinking of our losses. I wish I had pithy, meaningful words to say, but I am just reeling from so much loss.



I love you, Allison, and I miss you terribly. I hope you are dreaming of happier days to come.

World Thinking Day is the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts international celebration of the Scouting organizations for girls around the world. 

It is celebrated every February 22, which was the birthday of Lord and Lady Baden Powell who were the founders of the scouting movement in England more than a century ago.

It seemed appropriate to acknowlege the day since Girl Scouts were being discussed.

These friendships are as real and valuable to me as any. You folks will never know how much you have done for me.

Susie, I hope they appreciate your work. A friend of mine said he thinks we are turning into a fascist society with the corporate hierarchies and opportunities for abuse. I sometimes wonder if that is true in some countries.

Thanks Girls - I've spoken to someone outside of my area who is responsible for training this chick. I related examples and he is genuinly concerned she is micro managing. I'm not the only unhappy one, just the only one who is game enough to speak up - hopefully time and experience will improve her attitutde.

I watch these political debates and antics with mixed feelings. How low can they go? Yet I cannot divert my eyes from that trainwreck. (I was going to add some comments, but why stir the pot and make people eat their brussel sprouts again. No, I won't go there!)

After two days of strong winds with gusts to 93 mph, we're having a calm day. God I hate wind. Made for really rough driving coming home along the foothills yesterday. Overturned trucks and trailers, precarious power lines, and grass fires. Then an inch of snow, now sunny and calm.

Mary, Scoot - even tho Im almost "pre diabetic" I wanna go buy BOXES & BOXES of Thin Mints and stand on the corner & give them away.  Wish my old uniform was still around - it might just fit over one calf???  I do have my PIINS tho!!!

Stay safe Anne -  sounds wild out there.  Meanwhile, the folks making Maple Syrup in this area say they're boiling ( sap in HUGE vats) earlier than ever in memory. Worried too,  Weeks earlier, but  need warm days and COLD nights to keep the sap running - and it's in the mid 50's now, don't know about the night temps.  But it's all very strange...

Bren - sorry you got whomped on the other thread - really thought at least that one was a safe place.  Such wonderful healing words usually exchanged there - but like Scoot, the current state of what we used to call politics is making so many of us sick - I loved the quote from Buddha about what anger does to the person "holding" it.

I have had crazy bosses where I could find a new job and crazy bosses where I couldn't.  I found the best treatment for crazies when you have no way to leave for whatever reason was daily martinis with other sufferers. . . . . .of course nowadays not sure what I would do since a daily martini would cause all sorts of complications. . . .hourly dark chocolate?

I have no idea who deleted what post of yours, but PLEASE DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY. This business about being deleted "by the community" is a big fat lie. It isn't as though you are being censured by good citizens. Rather, one or two fanatics are pressing a button. If BCO wants to call that : "the community" it's not your fault. You are the nicest, warmest person, nice and warm to a fault, hear me?  If someone deletes you, in some cases it is probably an honor.
