Well, girls, I've moved floors. All settled in at my new (not so nice) desk - not as big as the old one - poop. I used my chair as a trolley again and filled a big box twice over and just wheeled it up in the lift. The worse part is plugging in all of the cables. I now have a view of tall buildings but I think this spot will be a bit hot as I'm next to the window. No walls or partitions to stick up my pics of grandbaby but I could stick them on the window I guess.

It has been cooler today but it's still hot - at least there is a bit of a breeze.

Athena - where are you????????? Actually - I have her email address - I'll write when I get home :)

    Linda

thanks for the full posting...I could have told them that ;-))))  SERIOUSLY - on advice from a good Naturopath, I started taking NIACIN - which does same thing as statins, it's a B vitamin -

Anyhooooo...whoopee doo, cholesteral drops 20 points, HDL goes WAY up, LDL goes WAY down, and the other "news" - my fasting blood glucose went from 100 to (get ready for it) 121.

Ok, I've stopped the Niacin - except what's in the multivitamin - and know taking cinnamon, and more cinnamon - and acupunturist has given me some chinese herbs that are supposed to be good for lowering blood glucose, glucose metabolism....

Saw what you posted on TV national News the other night - and almost was able to smile...

Can't remember - was it otter who said " Are we having fun yet???"

WR - glad you liked the cows....I LOVE IT...have it bookmarked so I can watch it.

Sun -- I stopped taking statins a couple of years ago, and started taking aged garlic.  It works!  And to combat sugar spikes, I add a tsp of cinnamon to my fruit smoothie.  One of my favourite flavours!   While I was on the statin, I was tested as borderline Type 2 diabetes.  Everything's A-OK now.

As for the cow video (actually I think I saw some bulls with noserings in there!) did anyone besides me sort of half-expect the animals to start moving in time to the music?  LOL!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU  - I was wondering if I could get near to normal by stopping the naicins - this just happened last month - as I was darned if I was gonna give up candy at Christmas!   SO, now I'm back to sensible - and cinnamon all day every day - including pills.

Aged garlic...well, that sounds like it would be fun to breathe on people who aren't being kind????

HEY, ATHENA - where are you?

Aw Sun, I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy!  The aged garlic comes in the form of capsules and the brand I use is Kyolic -- absolutely no odour!  It contains lecithin and is labelled cholesterol control.

    Hi Susie

We;ve been at a friend's house. It's snowing here and driving home was not fun. WE are supposed to have 3-6 inches. Winter has finally started.

We even have snow predicted here in the Seattle area on Sunday. I'll believe it when I see it.

As far as the tummy bug? We have kids throwing up right and left at the school I work at. "Winter has finally started."

Winter has arrived in Niagara -- with a vengeance!  Snow accumulation so far is about 3 inches and it's not stopping!

Barbara -- put on a sweater, honey!

Linda - oh, I can think of a few people I'd like to "breathe" on ;-)))  Ok, off to get Kyolic.

ICE.  Yes, some snow, but more ice - and fOG, oh, my FOOOGGGGGG - looking out the window is like looking into a piece of cotton.  And supposed to be down to below zero this weekend.  Time to hibernate, definitely.  See you in the SpringTongue out

I knew I shouldn't have been bragging about how warm and nice it was.  Note to Mother Nature ... those comments were not a complaint!  We only got a couple of inches of snow but the wind is wicked and it is cold out there.  Hope all of you with worse are able to hibernate.

I've shared my saga of my difficult relationship with my daughter here-I won't go into it again, but yesterday was my birthday, and she wrote, "I love you Mommy." on my card. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was my best birthday present.

    Hi Everybody!

We had a wicked storm last night and the temps have dropped to 26 degrees .. and the wind is howling!  Brrr .. too damn cold to walk the dogs today.

Rabbit ... I was so happy yesterday, it was 65 degrees and low wind.  I think winter has finally come to S.W. Virginia.  wahhh.

Sunflowers ...  I am going to hibernate today.  Think I will do some artsy stuff since I didn't get any work in yet this morning.

Barbara ... I feel for you.  It's got to feel very cold going from the 80's to the 50 degrees.  Just hope all those wonderful avocados down there aren't freezing!

Hope everyone has a great day,

    Bren

I'm up early - decided to go to the big farmers markets near the river - we haven't had any fish for ages and I miss it.

I HATE WINTER! Did I tell you I am not a fan of winter?

The roads were awful when I drove in to work today. A plowtruck-a big one not a guy with a plow on his pickup truck-pulled out in front of me and fishtailed. It is pretty bad when that happens.

At about noon, I had to drive an hour to pick stuff up for work. By then the roads were decent but yuck.

So while I was near a bigger mall I went shopping and bought myself a new coat and boots. They were 65% off each. I am happy about that but it does not change the fact that I hate winter..

Got home from the markets before 7 - wow I was early. My fish guy didn't have much as he said the fishermen were not all back at work. Still, I got some fresh barramundi (an Aussie fish) and some frozen snapper, which is ok as I usually freeze some anyway. Got some new basil plants - 3 for $5 - my usual fudge and a couple of apricot danish from a French patisserie stall - they are gone already. I did offer one to Steve but he refused - good I was going to eat it anyway.

Just finishing off the washing so I can get it hung out before going for the groceries and the forecast showers later today.

Commiserations on your cold weather - keep your fires burning.

Yuck, it's cold out! I decided there was nowhere I really needed to be, so I won't venture out until tomorrow AM for work. And then realized it would be easier to clean off the car and scrape the windows now instead of dealing with it at 6:00 am tomorrow. So I bundled up and did it. I'm seriously considering wearing sweat pants over my scrubs tomorrow. Scrub pants are thin and the wind whips right through them.
