I meant to post that somewhere else....hope you gals have fun in Niagara!
-
Morning everyone! I so wish I could go on this trip with ya'll but maybe another time.
I am off to clean my trainer's house so I will be gone most of the day.
Sunflower - you brought a smile to my face on your comment - green and yellow = blue!
-
hillck, So sorry the nausea was caused by the Dr. reduced the meds to fast. Sure hope he can adjust things so you will feel better. No one should have to go through that.
-
((((hillck))))
-
Cindy, there is nothing worse than doctor-induced illness. Hugs, pal.
-
Barb - you'll be in Baltimore???? We should get together if you have time!
-
Wow Barb .. you are really busy! But it sounds like a lot of fun trips. You will win the prize for meeting the most gals on BCO. I think I've met 15 all together now ... and hopefully another 25 at NOTL.
Cindy .. I'm sorry you feel so bad. Nausea and vomiting is the worst ever! Sounds like a medication reaction. I had that reaction to Arimidex and it was so bad I had to stop taking it. Hope your doctor can get things straightened out for you.
I love Phantom of the Opera, I've seen it twice. I like musicals the best!
Barb .. sounds like you've got your priorities in the right place to me!
I still haven't packed yet .. got the laundry going.

Cindy - I may get "banned for this" but SHIT! that is so hard, changing meds is tough enough, without the PHYSICAL illness. I had that, just once years and years ago, as a Doc took me "off" Effexor ( which I think is the world's worst, but not for all people). Wish you lived near me - I bought 2 lbs. of fresh ginger yesterday, so I could make tea for a friend who is sick too.
Sips of room temp. ginger ale, and bland soda crackers, seems to be easier if there is just a little something in stomach. Hope it all gets resolved quickly - I dread ever having to change meds again.
rant away if it helps....
-
For all of you gathering in NOTL, I will be with you in spirit. Looking forward to raising a glass (or two) to KK on Sunday afternoon.
-
Hillck, my reaction at this point, as I mentioned earlier, is to just say that I am a different species - half human, half lioness - and THAT explains my wierd reactions to meds.
Barbara - What E said - yes?
-
hillck I was having icky flashes from the tamox. Someone suggested I split the dose and take 2 10mgs. Things have improved dramatically--pretty much no more flashys!
yramAL yup, they are seeing Porgy and Bess but me, I will be at home--oh well!. Would have liked to gone but not in budget--this is a treat for the two of them. Oldest Monster has always loved classical music and opera so he is the one to go with MIL. MIL can't afford opera tickets---she is one of those people who actually lives on her SS having been too busy trying to fed, clothe and house 2 kids with a deadbeat ex husband paying neither child support or alimony to be able to save for retirement. Such a lazy bum she is---only worked since the age of 14--and really if she had not broken up her family with a divorce--after all whats a little physical abuse between family, right? I'm sure we can improve the universe by cutting her medi-whatever it's called and SS. . . .can't expect OtherPeople to go without their new yacht every year, now can we?
hmmmmm, I detect a rant. . . .okay I'll stop now. . . .
I would like to get at least the three of us some of the cheap tickets for Wagner Ring next year. I would also like to introduce "littles" to opera though I suspect it will be a bust. Regardless, must to remember to calender it (cheap seats sell out in a day) and HOPE that by then I have learned how to buy tickets on line .. . .
Bon Voyage!!!! to all going to NOTL

Hillck, I have always heard strange tales about Effexor, so I am not surprised at what happened to you. I experienced severe nausea going off Celexa years ago - it took me several months. Ridiculous. And yet I can go off Lexapro, which is an isomer of Celexa, with no problems. Modern medicine has a very, very long way to go. Thank God for my fabulous doctor - he is the best med in my arsenal.
-
Hillck - we crossposted - lol! Yes, when all else fails, fantasy has to be the answer. I am so glad my doctor is not one of those who says "hmmmmm, I've never heard of THAT before" - very frustrating to hear. In fact, mine says that he has been at this for 30 years and almost every day he hears of a new side effect. I have heard some horrendous things from others and consider myself quite lucky.
-
Cindy .. I've read a lot of stuff about Effexor and it scares me. I know the oncs like to prescribe it for hotflashes, but the withdrawal from it can be a bitch. My rad onc tried to prescribe it for me and I had to say no thanks ... I'm very sensitive to medication as well .. I was just too scared to try it.
I hope you start to feel better right quick.

Cindy .. I'm in if you're hosting in New Mexico next year! I miss the south west so much!
hugs,
Brne
-
Cindy - just sent you a pm....will pm you my phone number if you want to talk - Sunflowers
-
oooohhh...never been to south west - and I SO SO SO SO want to. YES, YES, YES, YES....
and more yeses.... Georgia O'Keefe is one of my heros.
-
Cindy .. I love San Diego, but my true love is the southwest. I lived in Nevada for awhile, as well as a number of years in the moutains in southern Utah. Utah is my favorite place .. but I bet Santa Fe would be high up on that list once I saw it! I also was in Wyoming and Arizona .. anywhere out west works for me!
As far as anti-depressants go, I thought you could take Celexa and it wouldn't intefere with Tamoxifen. I didn't know that Wellbutrin was a problem with Tamoxifen either.
hugs,
Bren
-
E, I will be at the Marriot Inner Harbor for a conference. Would love to have a cocktail and dinner!
-
(((hugs))) for those feeling puny today.
We expect lots of pictures and stories from you gals who are off to that foreign country this weekend!! I'm available to raise bail money if needed
I just finished giving my white fluffy cat a bath ... that's my accomplishment for the day. She's out on the deck drying and grooming now.
Made 7 quarts of spaghetti sauce yesterday and now have a new bucket of tomatoes waiting on me for another batch of something. We'll be having spaghetti for dinner tonight for a taste test.
Cindy ... you can be half wolf ... that's pretty impressive too!
TGIF to all the working folks.
-
Athena, you, too!! Anyone else is welcome, too!!
-
Barbara - amazing luck I have a Dr's appt. on Sept 16th at Johns Hopkins - E - would the 16th suit you? I have that day off, so any time would suit me.
-
Sounds great! I need to check my conference schedule for that day.
-
That is going to be SOOOO cool, Barbara, Athena & E! I'm going to count myself out this time ... It will be less than a month since my "front end work," as one of my more irreverent friends dubbed it, and I don't think I will be up for a trip like that by then. It is no problem ordinarily (except work), but with eleventy-gajillion stitches I think I'll stick close to home. Next time!

I had a Terrible experience with Effexor on Wednesday night...DH left for a business trip that morning - didn't think twice about taking a new med without anyone else home but my elderly Lhasa Apso...took 1/2 of the 75 mg as prescribed by my ONC before going to bed at 11...woke up around 3 after having some very strange dreams with Nausea, stomach ache, dizziness, tunnel vision, blurry vision, anxiety!!! OMG - considered calling 911 I was that messed up...Finally convinced myself to get back to sleep around 4:30...woke up at 8 feeling groggy and spacy all day...called the ONC's office and told them what happened and the nurse said that I probably had an allergic reaction...ya think??? The worst part is that I was prescribed this drug as a response to the Arimidex SE of hot flashes...ah...BC...the gift that keeps on giving...
Hope you all have a good weekend...TGIF -
Cindy, I remember those zaps from going off Effexor. They are horrible. Take care and I hope you feel better soon.
-
(((((((Cindy)))))))) -- hope you feel better soon.
Athena, I think I'm in the same boat -- the "non-existent voice" one! I sang in big choruses for a number of years -- through 2008. Age is catching up with me (59 in October), and I have a slight (
) suspicion that Aromasin might be accelerating aging effects throughout my body, including vocal machinery. -
AnnNYC, I agree age is catching up here too. I had to give up being the choir director and singing last year with all this stuff. I notice my vocal cords feel tight now.
-
Age (and many years as a smoker) has made my once soprano voice fall to maybe a tenor. You DC folks, are they still playing the 'Jerry's Ford makes it clear' jingle on the radio? I sang that back in 1972. I took scale pay but should have done residuals since they were playing it last time I was in DC back in 2010.
-
Barbara, I rarely listen to the radio since I don't drive to work ... But I do remember the jingle! I haven't sung in an ensemble since high school ... And since I was diagnosed with asthma and use Advair now, I can't hold a note on pitch anymore. *sigh*. But I can't complain about breathing!
