OK, just in case anyone tried to book at the conference center and it was full, I just cancelled my reservation so there should be one more suite available. I'm going to bunk with E because DH has decided not to come. NOTL, here we come!!

hrf We can toast your retirement at the gettogether as well.
-
mumayan - great suggestion about toasting hrf...I raise a glass to that!
-
I'll raise a glass to that too! Thank goodness for the teachers' pension plan
-
so right hrf!! I feel a bit guilty about that pension at times, until I remember that for 30+ years I paid almost 10% of my salary into it and the people who handle the money did far far better with it than I ever would have on my own.
-
My dh is a teacher so I know about the great pension plan!
-
I paid in for 41 years so they took a lot of my money and invested well. It won't be so good for those who follow because they have cut the COLA as of January 2010. Fortunately, it's not retroactive. I think they should have gone back to a 90 factor
-
Wow - I just counted up names and if everyone who hopes to come does so, we will be 25!
Yan - are you able to pick up Dream? Since I am staying overnight Sunday, that might not be as convenient for you Dream. Let's see . . .
-
Wow 25! That's an awesome group. I think we've got 8 or 10 coming from the U.S. What a wonderful tribute to Konakat. Another picture of her came up on my FB page and it made me miss her all the more.
Can't wait to see everyone .. sure hope all the 'maybes' can make it.
hugs,
Brne

ok...I am looking at places to stay near the falls on the Canada side. This is pretty much our vacation for the year so we can splurge a little. Is the tower hotel nice or cheezy?
We looked at b and b's, but the ones close to the falls are pretty booked up. Any other suggestions?
-
Cookie -- I have had a great recommendation for Embassy Suites on Fallsview Blvd. Close to very good restaurants. I can also vouch for the Sheraton Fallsview.
-
Cookie - when my family goes to Niagara Falls, we almost always stay at the DoubleTree Inn. It's only a few years old and it's very nice and reasonable. My DD likes it because they give everyone a cookie when you check in. It's a part of the Hilton Chain.
-
This will be our first time leaving the US as a couple!
-
Oh -- a delayed honeymoon in Niagara Falls! How unique
! You'll love it!
-
Ladies there is a resturant in NiagraFalls right near the main strip. It has been there for years, not expensive and the food is excellent(Italian) with home made pasta. It is called Antica. My family eats there everytime we are in the falls area.
-
Thanks, mumayan!
-
Woo hoo. Got my enhanced driver's license and am ready. Linda do you have a list yet of what people are bringing?
-
Yay, Rosemary! I knew you would need a room, roomie!!!!
-
Thanks Ann. I am excited even though there's some family stuff going on that stresses me out but in a few days that should be resolved.
In my ID picture I look like a blimp. Yay Femara
-
Rosemary .. great news! The photos on those things always look like mugshots. I was surprised there was an old lady in my picture! Didn't even recognize her.
So now Ann has a roomie .. What day are you going Rosemary? We're all meeting at the hotel Saturday about 2 p.m. Then to the falls.
hugs,
Bren
-
I'll be driving up Saturday and back on Monday. It is a 6-7 hour drive so I should be able to make it before 2:00.
-
Rosemary .. sounds great! I'll be arriving with Ann and Barbara .. and Blue and Ray will be meeting us at the hotel at the same time. Don't know what time Enjoyful and Happy will be there, but I think before us as their flight arrives at 9 a.m.

-
Is anyone attending from the Ottawa area? If so and if you have passenger room please PM me.
-
Sharon .. I don't know where Ottawa is but I sure hope someone from there can give you a ride to the luncheon.
hugs,
Bren -
Getting excited ... 19 days to go! Wondering when LindaE will be arriving and on what day.
hugs to all,
Bren
PS .. Sharon .. did you hear from anyone yet?
-
Yes Bren, I did receive a kind offer of a drive but I won't be joining you. Maybe next year. I hope you all have a wonderful time!!
-
Sharon, if you got an offer, why aren't you coming? I know I would love to give you a hug, and I'm sure there are others that would love to meet you too!!
-
Ah geez Sharon .. I wish you would reconsider. We'll miss you.
hugs,
Bren
-
Sharon, I would also love to meet you.
Linda, I'll bring a salad - not sure what yet -
Sharon....there's no way you can come? :-(
