Another summer lunch in Niagara-on-the-Lake?

WooHoo!
-
Linda, the $41m winning lottery ticket was purchased in Niagara. Have you checked your numbers yet?
-
Hah! No, I don't buy lottery tickets. I'm not one of the lucky ones.
-
Well, I would suggest that you be especially nice to your neighbours until they announce the winner!
-
Really looking forward to this getaway! Dh and I are going to drive down Sunday... and stay for theatre and an overnight at a little B&B in town. Also, I HAVE to buy peaches for my younger son, who adores them!!
-
Are you allowed to bring peaches back across the border? I would love to bring a bunch home with me.
Bren
-
Whoo hoo -- I'm in! Surgery date moved to August 23. Now checking to see if DH wants to come (probably not, but it never hurts to ask). See you all there!! WHOO HOOO!!!!
-
Yay Happy .. Great news! Can't wait to see you again.
hugs,
Bren
-
Happy .. are you and Enjoyful coming up on Friday or Saturday?
-
We are probably coming up on Friday. She's coming later than I am, but I'll swing back around to the airport to pick her up. What time are you leaving on Monday?
-
Happy .. I depart Buffalo at 11:15 a.m. on Monday. Need to check and see when Barbara and Ann are leaving on Monday.
I'm so freakin' excited!
Bren
-
my plane is @ 12:55 but no worries. I am used to hanging around in airports.
-
I'll check with E when her airplane is. The one I want to take is at 10:55 a.m.
-
Happy if you leave at 10:55 a.m., I can always catch a ride with you .. that way Barbara can leave a little later and won't have to wait around the airport. We still need to figure out when Ann is leaving too.
My connection from Buffalo is to La Guardia and I only have a 1/2 hour to catch the flight. I sure hope they are running on time!
Bren
-
Oh, no Bren -- my airplane leaves at 8:55 -- sorry! I was looking at the outbound flight! So I like to get to the airport early, so I'll want to be there about 7:00, which means I'll leave NOTL at about 5:30 to make sure I don't get caught up in commuter traffic (I'll be checking the bridge times this week to see what commuter traffic looks like). All those times are a.m. -- you are more than welcome to come with me, but I"m not sure you want to get up that early!
-
Holy smokes .. that's early Layne. Can't imagine there is that much traffic at the Buffalo airport on a Monday morning. I only need to arrive in Greensboro a 1/2 hour before my departure.
Okay .. I'll have to flip a coin. ha! Get up early with you or make Barbara hang around the airport. I don't mind getting up early.
Bren
-
I have a *thing* about getting to airports early. Hangover from living overseas, I guess. Maybe I don't have to get to BUF that early ... I'll check what TSA says and look at wait times. The thing I'm thinking about is that it is tourist season, so you never know when the hordes of tourists will descend. And the businesspeople are flying to DC first thing Monday a.m. too.
-
It may be busy at the border Monday morning. There's a fair bit of commuting traffic back & forth, I think.
-
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, E. My experience with San Diego is guiding my planning. I don't know anyone in Buffalo anymore to ask, though. I'll just look at the border wait times on Monday morning coming and see.
-
Happy .. the wait times I read on the border website were at most about 20 minutes. San Diego could be up to two hours. There is a website that gives the wait times at all three bridge border crossings. I think it was on the NOTL website I saw that info. I'll check it this Monday and get an idea of what Monday mornings look like coming this way at the border.

WooHoo So many new faces comming this time.I am really going to enjoy this gettogether..
-
BTW...Hubby and I are combining this with our trip to see the falls. Any picks on where to stay. We like B and B's. There is one that advertises a view of the "upper" falls. Red Coach Inn...anyone know anything about it?
-
Especially to Bren, BarbaraA and Libby: My flight gets in to Buffalo at 10:50 AM on Saturday, and I leave at 11:30 AM on Monday -- so I'm in for whatever car rides are planned!
-
Perfect!! I get in at 11:55 and am out at 2 something Monday. PM me your cell. Libby, you too.
-
Cookie -- I haven't been to the Red Coach Inn, but judging from the map, it seems very close to the Horseshoe Falls, but on the American side. You would be able to take the Rainbow Bridge from NFalls NY to NFalls ON (which is usually not terribly busy). Looks like a lovely place to stay!
-
Great that so many new folks are joining us tins year. No question that the NOTL location is a huge attraction. Linda, do you want to coordinate some sort of menu so that we don't all bring the same thing?
-
Yes hrf -- I'm going to set up a new thread early next week -- sort of a roll call, along with some suggestions for the potluck. Everyone can pm me with their choice! And I'm not fussy as to whether it's home-made or store-bought, just so long as there is no mayonnaise involved! I have a horror of summertime mayo salads and food poisoning!
Looking forward to seeing you again! Hope you're enjoying retirement
.
-
Hi Linda. My official retirement is August 31 but I'm in the process of cleaning out my office. My replacement starts August 1 so we have a month for transition but basically she'll be in charge and I'll just hang around in case I'm needed
-
I'm so excited .. I got my passport card in the mail today! And the picture doesn't look too bad at all. Yay! So I'm all set for the trip now .. can't wait to meet everyone!
hugs,
Bren
-
Bren, I know I'm excited to meet everyone as well.
