    Wayward Hummingbird, flitting past. Goodness. I missed a whole Friday concept!

    I knew that I wasn't going to be able to weigh in, due to no scales at our spring-break family fest.... but I didn't even realize yesterday was Fri.

    So here be my ding-bat summary:

    Friday check in = 0 points

    Weight maintained = 1 point (I may be some what generous in this concept, but I still fit in my 'skinny' jeans w some room to spare LOL. I literally weighed my ELAB low for four days in a row this week and I'm never that consistent. More laughing.)

    Water = 7 points

    Exercise = 16 points

    Extra credit = 1 point, stepson brought Crispy Cream dounuts into our shared kitchen -- and my very favorite kind at that and I walked away from the box without eating mine!!

    Total = 25 points

    ***** I am going to be away from scales for the coming five weeks on Fridays, including the couple weeks in Europe soon............ anybody willing to take over the captain's duties on the Hummer team?

    Responsibilities are minimal.

    Benefits are massive!!!

    Apply within.

    Worked 14 hrs Th, 15 hrs Fr, left work at 1:30AM and had to be back at 9AM.  So I haven't been on my computer in several days.

    Roadrunner checking in- 0pts for missing Friday

    7pts wter

    Haven't been to the gym in a week and a half, but took the dogs out for a hike, worked on a sculpture, and hung artwork, up and down ladders and stairs.  10 pts

    Ate like a teenager, so weight up - 0pts.  Boo-hiss.  Grumpy and sore and still fat.  Sigh.

    Val Jean I am very discouraged about my wt. too.  I have gained wt since last November without really trying.  The Med Onc increased my Tamoxifen and though my intake has not significantly increased my wt. has gone up.  He is going to be very happy when I go back in 2 wks for a check up and right now neither am I.  I'm not really sure what to do because simple exercise and cutting back just isn't working.  Believe me I have tried.  I guess it will be back to a weight clinic.  I hate to spend money again, but those darn pills make me stay hungry all the time since he increased the dosage.  I feel so miserable... like a big old bloated up blimp!! lol :)

    I am so glad that many of you are staying on track and doing so well.  I hope to be back in there with you.  I'm going to call the Dr. Vitkin's wt. loss center in the next few days and get on the ball.

    Renee ~ Your post is me, I am at a loss as to what to do to get my weight down & keep it down. Since I have been on Aromasin, I have gained & lost the same dang few #'s over & over & over again. I know in my heart that's why I can't keep it off. It's that pill. I know I need to take it, I know I have 3 yrs left, & I know I'll be a wreck when I stop taking it (that's a another story). But, I don't like what it does concerning my weight right now.

    I hate every time I want to have some dessert, & I don't have it all the time, I think, "Oh, here's a couple of #'s!" If I have something else, there's another pound or two. It sucks!! So I cut back, lose a bit, have some food I like, exercise less, & gain it back. The next week it starts all over again. Maybe I just don't have enough will-power....

    I agree, just simple exercise & cutting back just isn't working. It's just exhausting. And I don't mean that physically.

    Need to figure out what to do.

    I am so proud of everyone who is doing so well.

    By the way, Renee, LOVE your new avatar pic.

    Valjean and Mimi - I also feel it is the pill. Always had will power, kept a nice weight for three years after a diet. While chemo gained weight and tamoxy won't let me loose it.

    I'm sure of it.

    I feel like I keep posting the same post, over and over and over and over and over again!

    I need to join this weight loss thread.  Before cancer, I lost about 25 pounds on the South Beach Diet.  I had about 30 to go.  I gained 10 while on chemo and now, despite exercising every other day (wasn't doing before) and staying mostly on the Southbeach diet I have yet to lose even one pound.  I am 200 pounds!!!!! Yes, this is a lot but I am large boned.  I am hoping to get to 165 (and I will look thin at this weight) and feel like if I don't lose this weight, I may as well hammer the nails into my own coffin. I went into chemopause in November also. I feel like I have aged 20 years in the last seven months.  I am soo unhappy physically and its not even the missing breast that bothers me soo much. It's the swollen arm, the sleeve, the dry wrinkly skin, the dried up woman parts, the hemorrhoid issues (sorry, too much information but really, I can't even have an ass that functions properly now?)...I'm 44 and blabbering on and on about ejection fraction.....ok on to weight loss......Will I ever feel beautiful again?

    Kathleen - it may not feel like it now but things do get better..I had my last chemo Oct 2009 and in Aug of 2010 I actually started feeling human again.  My hair has grown out past the chia pet stage and I can straighten it into a similar (but shorter) pre chemo look.  I put on 40 lbs with chemo Surprised and still have about 34 more to lose but I am starting to feel pretty again.  My LE arm and trunc irritate me and can bring my down in a nano second when flaring but when the LE is stabilized life feels pretty good.  Just wanted to let you know there is light at the end of the tunnel, unfortunately the tunnel can sometime feel very long...

    Welcome Kathleen! I think you will like it here, tons of support. And even if one falls off the wagon (where I seem to be at this time), there are lots of sisters to set one upright again!

    We try to get in excercise on a regular basis (even just walking farther from where we park & talking the stairs more often) & drink plenty of water to help fill us up & flush out any bad toxins from the the not-so-good (at least for me anyway) choices of food we might make.

    Do you have good healthy recipes you'd like to share? A new way to fix the same ole veggie, perhaps?

    Valjean - Just knowing that I'm not crazy, and that there are others in my situation,  makes me feel better.

    Thank you for for being here.

    I'm not giving up. I will keep fighting, but I would like the oncs to acknowledge that this pill has an influence on weight loss.

    kathleen--tamoxifen and the AIs make weight lost difficult, and are associated with weight gain, so it's not all your fault.  Many of us here are struggling to lose weight, some with success, some without.  I've actually changed my goal from losing to maintaining while developing better exercise and nutritonal habits in hopes that when I come off arimidex in 18 months that the weight will come off then.  That has happened for many ladies.  There's lots of support here, and the accountability I need to keep up and keep honest.  You'll fit right in!

    welcome Kathleen, this is a great bunch of women.  I'm on tamox and losing slooooowly.  Like a few ounces each week.

    I try to exercise every day - weekly yoga class and daily walks.  Usually a half-hour walk at lunchtime during the week, and longer walks on the weekends.  I track progress by posting mileage in my signature line.  Like you I am a large-framed woman & got to 200 and said OMG.  Am now down to 181.5 (as of last Friday - I do not weigh myself every day) and would also love to see 165 someday.

    I joined LOSEIT.com to track my daily calories and exercise.  The most help for me was to show how much I snack.  So I found healthy options: things like natural almonds, Bosc pears, Sunsweet Ones (individually wrapped prunes, don't laugh, they're delicious and it feels like unwrapping a piece of candy), and fresh crunchy veggies.  Right now I'm on a radish kick.  Keep some ready-to-eat in a bowl of water in the 'fridge... eat a few and my mouth tingles so I know I ate something.

    Also bought a $5 pedometer with the goal of walking 10,000 steps a day.  As you can see, I'm numerically motivated, so the more goals I can quantify, the better I like it.  That doesn't work for everyone, but the support here does.  Thanks birdies!  {{hugs}} to all

    After being on Arimidex for almost 4 years I am finding it very difficult to get to my goal.  Plus blood work done a week and a half ago showed my BUN, chloride and calcium to be a few points higher than normal.  If I have a problem with my kidneys that could be a reason for not loosing.  I just had the test redone Saturday and waiting for results.  Maybe that is why my CA-27-29 is abnormal, that will not be redone until July.  If my blood work is abnormal in July I am going to demand some scans.  WTH!

    Hummingbird checking in:

    Friday check in = 3 points

    Weight down 1 lb to 144 = 2 points ( I'm happy with this and my goal is to stay less than 145lbs)  Guess that's ok as I am 5'7"  or at least I used to be.  My previous goal was to get to 149.   I can now wear some size 8's and I can't remember wearing that size since I was 12 maybe!)  Gave up most fried foods which is hard in New Orleans.  We have great shimp, oyster, fish po-boys.  French Quarter Festival is this weekend and all the resturants have food booths.    Nauropath says to eat the fried foods only rarely!

    Excercise = 7 points ( Trying to get this up.)

    Water = 7 points

    Total = 19 points
