(This is what I originally posted in the last one:)
Another quote from Weight Watchers:
Support and camaraderie nurture success.
From Weight Watchers®
---------------------------------------------------------
I am not advocating Weight Watchers in particular, but I am using some of their recipes to reach my goals, so I come across quotes now and again. After my 30 minute work out I went outside and completed pruning the tree. It feels good to get active again, although I am feeling the muscles right now. The branches are off the tree, and two loads of chopped up branches are to the Garbage. Planning dinner now.

Meece..What are the numbers next to the weight some of us have and some dont.
Is it our dress size?

Moderators!!!!! I thought of something "real" that BCO could do for ELAB and other similar threads. Seriously this would be awesome -- if I do say so myself.
BCO could come up with a donation(s) from some tropical destination/resort sort of place to offer as no-kidding "prize" sweep-stakes kind of incentive to be offered to a 'winner'. The resort would donate a week and receive the advertisement space here in deference for announcing their prize/donation.
Of course maybe a bed -n- breakfast in the northeast during the leaf changing season or tickets for a week of Broadway shows, or a Vegas get-away would be just enough incentive to get some up & moving. Whatever some destination place would be willing to donate.
Anyhow. Make it a contest with a prize!!!
And on that note............ I did invite some other threads to join us. As I was attempting to describe what we're up to, I mentioned the amazing success of our birdie-from-Ireland, Ainm, and her weight loss in the 100 pound category.
The more I thought about that the more I realized that she is our de-facto
ELAB WINNER of 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And as I was stirring our low-cal dinner tonight, I realized that I was in the position to offer
a gen-u-ine prize to our Ainm.
As winner of our 2010 ELAB Contest, I would be happy to offer you the keys to our home here in FL for any two weeks this summer (or next summer.) Now, in that you are not familiar with Ocala FL let me just say that it is not near any glorious water...... other than an amazing swimming pool in our development.
If you would prefer to come be our guest in northern WI this summer, you'd have to share our little place..... tho you can have your own room w/private bath and be a block from water & located in the heart of an Arts colony.
Your choice!!!!!
And I am completely serious!
There is no expiration of the offer, by-the-way.
You are to be Congratulated!!!!! And I want to make it tangible. Seriously.
-
faithandfifty - because I have a friend there with a home also in northern WI, is this Ann?

I was intrigued by the discusion of E-LAB on Stage l Sisters so came to check it out. I may not really belong here because I don't need to lose weight, would be glad in fact to gain 10 or 15, but I do need to learn to eat better and increase my fitness level. I was overweight most of my life. In my early 50's I managed reach and maintain 180 which my Dr called a healthy weight form and one at which I felt good. Acute pancreatitis caused me to lose 72 lb in a few weeks and damaged my digestive system in 1999. Since then I have struggled to keep my weight at 155. I cook well balanced meals both at home and at our Senior Center but struggle to eat anything but the meat and patatos I grew up on. I really do need help in the nutrition and fitness area.
I am drawn to this thread in part because so many of you are sisters from other threads I follow. May I join you?
-
Meece, is it to late for me to join your group of E-labers? I really need to get rid of the belly fat and just able to start exercising again.
-
No raincitygirl, I'm one of the league of Debbies here at BCO. Several of the threads that I frequent, have skads of Debbies, so I have always stayed w my nickname which has kinda morphed into "Faithie".
Our place in northern WI is in a little village by the name of "Sister Bay" I kid you not. It's in a mystical area known as Door County...... the door to all things amazing.
Nice to meet you!
-
Wait till Meece gets back to find additional NEWBIES!!!
She'll be smiling in her sleep tonight!!!
Welcome, welcome chabba & samsue!
We can all learn in areas where we need to be strengthened.
That's what BCO is all about.
-
chabba, you can be on my team which doesn't need to disclose weight or goals. WELCOME!!!
Seyla, I put some of the goals down by our weights.
I think we need a percentage of body weight lost as part of determining the winner.
SamSue, Welcome!
I have Chicken Fricassee on the stove. less than 400 calories per serving. I let Dh know tonight that we are going to be eating healthier and both of us will be losing weight. He'll have to be in charge of his exercise regimen, but I can help him eat healthy. I should have no problem coming in under my 1200 calories today.
-
Salmon & asparagus for dinner.
It was yummy. Its always yummy.
invitations going out already.
-
Do the hummingbirds get Samsue?
This is going to get tricky. We suddenly have two people with nicks that have Sam and both are in FL and then we have two Vals as well.
It used to be the Debbies that were always in duplicate! LOL
-
Thanks Meece for the welcome. Tomorrow AM our work is having a health fair as part of the yearly insurance review and drug free workplace. This year they're actually having a company come and measure our cholesterol and BWI. There are a couple of other things that they're going to do, but I've forgotten. UGH. So, I'll know my "fat" index and where I'm starting.
Do you want me to weigh in tomorrow? Do I have all day to get back to you? I'm out the door early and don't get to use the computer until I'm home, usually late. And, if I go to the gym, it'll be later.
-
I take that back, I found Samsue in the Flock.
-
I wait until we have new members for each of the three main teams. We need one more so ValGirl and SamSue can move on.
Gets pretty hectic when there are two Meeces as well, then we become mice.
-
Seyla888, I bought some asparagus too. I must be on an asparagus kick... I fixed some Monday by using my "forman" grill with a little bit of coconut oil. It took about 5 min and it was done. YUMMY
-
samsue...I use a small amount of EVOO and a tablespoon of bread crumbs. mixed well and microwave 5 minutes stir and another 2 minutes its ready
.
I eat it at least 3 times a week.
-
faithandfifty - I am familiar with that location....quite lovely.
So, Meece, can we review - we are supposed to post our exercise activity daily and then our weight on Friday's?
-
I'm a Debbie!
Yup, well, here goes. I am 59 yo, 4'11" and this little porka weights 156, I did loose 2lbs by not snacking and cutting down on portions.
-
Sheila, I'm in! My motivation is at a very high level so let's keep this up. I actually like Ainm's name and think it's easy to spell but don't know how we can write it here. Whatever you all decide to call us will work for me.
I had asparagus 3 nights this week. Sauteed in olive oil with onion and garlic, a little salt and pepper - Yum.
Samsue, welcome. You can give your weight when you get home or whenever you get a chance.
Night friends.
-
4'11" - well finally someone shorter than me at 5' 1"
It is hard at our height to hide any gain! They don't understand
-
Hi Ladies,
I just had pbmx with diep flap on December 3rd. Now that my tummy is on my chest, my new flat tummy makes my thighs and hips look even bigger. I'm trying to eat really healthy foods to help my failed skin graft heal faster from the inside out. I would like to lose weight and am glad I found this thread.
Jane
-
YAY! Welcome Jane.
and now I'm really going up to bed.
-
patoo...Thats what I meant the writing. not the spelling of Ainms choice.
-
I was intrigued to brouse this thread from my January thread. I already live in a low-fat, low-carb, low-sodium household since I live with a diabetic, high blood pressure, transplant patient. The time of recouping from surgeries over the past year and almost a half has taken it's toll on me with the addition of tamoxifen. Just when I would get up to exercizing again it would be time for another surgery or dealing with a serious illness in the household the stop the routine.
I am a Richard Simmons tape advocate and love the Sweatin' to the Oldies tapes (I have 4 or 5 I think). I also have a gazelle to do no stress exercize to "walk". It is a matter of starting again.
I see the onco tomorrow and will report in the "official" weight then. I am 5'5" and small boned. I think I'm about 150 but really am heavy at that weight for my frame. I would like to be around 120 or so if I can get there.
Raincitygirl: I'm considered "tall" in my family at 5'5". My mom is 5'1" and her mom was 4'10" and had a sister even shorter. In my house we never said "short"! My mom always said everyone else was "abnormally tall!"
-
bcincolorao - kind of like my less than tall daughter's response to her first day in high school some years ago "they are all too big"
-
Zogo, BCin Colorado, are you in?
-
I wish you all would stop posting for a few minutes so I can sign off!
