I've been following you ladies, and thinking that it might be time to get beyond the plateau that I've been at for the last year and a half.
The thing that worked to help me lose 50 lbs after diagnosis (and keep it off) was writing down EVERYTHING I ate, including portion size, and how much exercise I did so I could see what I was doing right, where my issues were, and what worked for me.
A program that would take that info and show it as a graph would be helpful for those of us who are visual learners.

Hey ladies,
I would like get involved here on this thread. I had my first DEXA scan and was dx'd with moderate osteopenia. Along with taking Calcium and Vitamin D, I want (read need) to start weight bearing exercises and eating healthier. Background on my bc dx: Dx'd 4-2007, with 8mm IDC with widespread DCIS, left mast w/immediate recon, 35 rads (26 reg, 9 boosts), tamoxifen 3 years (after 2 had TAH-BSO) and started Arimidex in December 2010. I have started to add some pounds.- not much. I would like to keep from adding any more. You are a wonderful, inspiring group of women. Thanks.

Welcome PatMom and prayrv.
I am so motivated today, and hope that I can continue. I broke out the Wii Active for the first time in months and completed my old routine. 30 minutes of exercise and burned 150 calories. Now I just need to plan on my food today.
-
I add my welcome to Patmom and Prayrv.
Hey Meece, did the Wii Active "yell" at you because you hadn't visited in months? My Wii Fit does that to me. I'm scared to death to get back on it cause it's going to ask where I've been!

My short term goal for the weekend is to get back on my Wii Fit for at least 1/2 hour Saturday and Sunday!
-

My Wii Active just said all my goals had expired. But my "trainer" told me I had surpassed her expectations today.
I think I'll call her....Avis, the latin for Bird
-
Would the Wii Fit be considered "weight bearing" exercise?
thanks all!
-
Is it too late for me to be counted in? I just ran across the heading in perfect time because I had already decided to walk 15 minutes today. I am also starting my lifestyle change with the help of Anti Cancer - A New Way of Life by David Servan-Schreiber.
To add to the acronym at the beginning of this post: Eeeeek Look At my Belly fat!
Susan
-
I don't have "Fit". Can you do walking on it? I can do a lot of walking and burn a lot of calories.
I think you should be able to do the balance exercises and yoga, but if in doubt contact your doctor.
-
I don't have anything yet to help me - I was thinking about getting whatever the Wii thing is, if it would work. Any ideas there?
Need to get back to work - I'll check the thread tonight.
Trish
-
You can walk, jog, dance, do yoga and balancing on the Wii Fit. I like my Wii Fit when I actually use it.
-
Sign me up please Meece - I will go to any team that is willing to accept undisclosed as my weight
Perhaps I will get more comfortable sharing that... -
You can be on my team, RCG. Welcome!
I felt really good, and sucessful after my Wii-workout today!
-
If it's ok, I'd like to sign up. My background is: I have always tried to be healthy, eat healthy etc. I did gain about 20 lbs after Hurricane Katrina hit our city in 2005. Eating too much comfort food did it. My house had a little water, my business suffered etc. But we were fortunate and had insurance etc.. The city is back, my business is doing well and I had shed the 20 extra lbs before being diagnosed with BC in Sept 10. Since then I have lost another 10 lbs. My height is 5'7" and I am currently 151 lbs. I take it in mini goals. I'd like to next be under 150 and take it from there. Just started Arimidex 6 days ago. So far, good with no side effects. Hope it does not hinder my weight loss. I do Yoga at my gym on Mondays and Wednesdays (Yoga is great for flexibility, balance and does get my heart going on some poses). On Tuesday and Thursday I either walk or go to a step or zumba class or do my WiiFit. I find changing it up keeps me going. I am also trying to figure out what combinations of vitamins/suppletments to take. Currently 5,000 of Vit D and some others, but need help there deciding which ones to take.
-
I am soo excited.
I threw away perfectly delicious pasta dish that my neighbor sent me this morning.
Meece...We discuss name of the team etc little later.
((patoo)) ((Ainm)) ((Nativemainer))
Are we all in this together?????
-
we are all in this together

Meece, thanks for putting me on your team - why the name "flock"? Just as in a group?
-
Yep, we are a group of gals each Eating Like A Bird. (Glad you didn't ask "What the flock?")
-
ValGirl, your in. We now have three to put onto the three main teams.
I will try to use my first post on each page to show the updated team listing. ( I have edited the one on this page so check it out.)
-
I missed sseing SAMayoFL's post so she will slip in first. Welcome, Sam!
-
Meece - thank you for all the effort you are putting into this!!
Sheila - I'm with you if you'll have me!! What about' Éaniní '' as a group name - it's the Irish for 'little birds' or maybe someone else could think of something inspirational!!
I started on this caper just as I finished active treatment - that was August '09 and I started at just over 234 pounds and to date - with the help of my trusty Wii Fit and Balance Board - I have lost 91lbs and counting (I hope).
The moderators might be interested to know what prompted me to successfully loose weight this time - something I had failed to do over the past 20 odd years. When I finished chemo, I had put on even more weight - I couldn't believe it - my mental picture of a cancer patient was someone who would loose weight due to illness and treatment - I felt that even at such a low time in my life I was still a failure - I couldn't even 'waste away'!!!
I asked my onc what could I do to improve my chances of not experience a recurrence. He said being a healthy weight and being fitter would be good for me - even if I had never experienced cancer. Now I didn't smoke, I rarely drank so eating and fitness were the only things I had personal control over so I decided I would DO THIS!!!
So I free step on my Wii Fit Balance Board for 60 mins every day now (I worked up to it) and I try to be sensible about what I eat. However, the food side of it is still and enormous struggle - as mentioned by Oakley maintaining a loss is really, really difficult. I don't think I have really succeeded in changing my eating habits - over Christmas I inhaled food!!!! I struggle with it every minute of every day. I revert to my 'old bad habits' at every opportunity. So if anyone can come up with some tool or preferably mind control technique (LOL) to reprogramme me I would be truly grateful!!
Lets do this ladies!!!
-
READY....
SET....
GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Meece thanks for all of this - wow I'm ready.
-
I feel like we are in Survivor Show. LOL
((Ainm)) The name sounds pretty but the spelling might be little hard.
-
Sheila - I agree - maybe someting more universal and inspirational would be more apt.
Hmmmmm....I'll sleep on it.......maybe by then someone will have come up with an excellent choice
!!Maybe something like disappearing divas or... o...r well come on team members - shout it out!!!
-
I'm in! Can't think of a name just yet, but I'll sleep on it.
I'm in for interviews, too. This will give me the accountability I need, and the Bible says we ALL need!
-
Whoohooooo!!! Let's do this birdies!!!!
Captain Meece, I have just sent PMs to my two who will be surprised to learn that I am their fearless leader: LOL! I'm concerned cuz our My3Girls hasn't checked into BCO in over a month, but when she comes back -- she'll know she's welcome.
PrayRV -- welcome to the hummingbirds, we're teeny & we keep moving!! (BTW: I remember you from the ancient days of chat & it's great to see you again here of all places!!!
Suz & o2B I will happily share co-captain status, just chime in!
Now. Birdies old and new -- [how awesome to have moderators pop in AND brand new birdies, all in the same day!!!] I think we should each post an invite to ELAB on our favorite thread or two as an open invite to others, that we are launching a new adventure and it's time to get in on the ground floor. It would be awesome if each of our teams could have 6 or 10 folks!!
I know that it's 'tricky' to join an established thread and if we all broadcast that we're recruiting right now, maybe that would help.
Meecie, again you're to be congratulated for sorting us all out..... what ever your system, I think it's great to have gotten underway. Tomorrow is our first Friday of the New Year and the new teams. Make wise desicions tonight birdies!!!!

P.S. for those of you new to the tell the whole cyber world at large, just exactly how much you weigh..... I certainly respect your choice to wade in slowly. I must say that for me personally to look at the scale this time last year and say out loud to my husband what I weighed at the time, was enough to get me moving forward.
BTW: Hummingbirds I told him that he is an honorary member. He has lost 24 pounds in the year that I've lost 12...... so we've been in this together, so far -- so good!!

-
Oh - please confirm is Friday or Saturday weigh in day???
-
I think Friday will be a good weigh in day. Before, being home all weekend, for those who work, takes it's toll. Encouraging numbers can do wonders for self-esteem and self-restraint!
---------------------------------------------------------
You can begin anything at any time. Rather
than wait for the first of the month or
Monday morning, begin whenever you're
ready. Midmorning, late afternoon and right
this minute are good times too. From Weight Watchers®
---------------------------------------------------------
-
Ainm, weigh in is Friday. I'd best be really good tonight.
Love being on the Hummingbird team, my favorite bird Faith.
I managed 45 minutes of exercise after work and just had a small portion of the delicious dinner my older daughter made tonight.
Good luck everyone.
