We should have taken DD out to drive in the snow earlier today.  She's supposed to have 3 hrs of bad weather driving practice.  She's supposed to take her driving test next month.  She's supposed to have 40 hrs of road practice.  She's got a little ways to go.

chris...Is she going through that difficult teenage time or is it finished?

She's still going through it.  Still teenage drama.  And from what I hear from her friend who is a freshman in college - it continues into college for some.  But she is a little dramatic herself, so maybe she just hangs out with dramatic types.  I don't remember too much drama in college.  I was hoping the drama would have ended by now.  Then again, there are still people who create drama in the workplace - so it never ends for some.  Just a matter of trying to steer clear of it, I suppose.  It is tiresome.

LInda - I am confused - you refer to your DH as best husband in the world but have ex MIL?  Does this mean you have a new model?: :)

Chris - I also do as much in advance as possible.  I even set the table and pull out the serving dishes and utensils and put little stickies on them so I know I have it covered - I do this days before.  I try to make the actual day as stress-free and last minute as possible by peeling, chopping and cooking for the days prior - because, there is no question that something will come up.  I think you have just convinced yourself that you are bad and have become a self-fulfilling prophecy.   Either way, we can't be good at everything, right?.

I will try to be more organized in the future.  My house is always a mess - kids are messier now than ever - so I put off cleaning 'til the last minute and then run out of time.  (I vacuumed the downstairs 3 times in 2 days - stuff just keeps getting tracked...) So I'm rushing around cleaning and trying to get food started.  And my DH tends to collect papers and things on the dining room table.  We have a new computer that he's been transferring things to from the old computer and it has been on the dining room table since the day after Thanksgiving.  Just put the Christmas tablecloth on the table yesterday morning!  Maybe next year we will be more organized.  Definitely can't be good at everything - I'm still trying to find something at all.  No career - not domestically inclined...  maybe something someday.

I still haven't taken the annual kids-in-front-of-the-Christmas-tree picture for Christmas cards.  Guess I'll have Happy New Year cards made instead?  I'll have to insist we take a picture tomorrow so I can do cards on Tuesday.  I didn't do cards at all the last 2 years.  First year because I was pissed that no one wanted to help decorate the tree and last year I was waiting to see if they learned their lesson from the year before.  Tree went up last minute.  So I didn't bother.  This year, I decided I was going to do it, but was so busy with my project, I didn't get around to it.  Happy New Year cards it's going to be.

Chris, if you have to vacuum three times in two days,no matter you don't have time to cook.  Time for those males to take off their shoes and help out....

I don't usually vacuum that often, but for some reason, it seems to get stuff tracked on it more lately and needs it.  I think it took me longer than usual to clean up the house because there were so many little things I hadn't been keeping up with while I was working in the basement.  Some day this house will be in order.  I hope.  DS and DH did help.  DH did a lot.  DS cleaned up his mess on the back porch.

Christmas morning, I realized I hadn't wrapped my DH's gifts.  Had been up late making pies and forgot. So after everyone had opened their gifts, I took the wrapping paper from two bigger gifts that hadn't been ripped up too much and wrapped my DH's gifts in it.  One had a to/from label on it, so I crossed off the name and wrote DH's name.  I said I was being green and recycling.  Which I kind of was- I hate throwing away all that paper.

you guys have been busy and that is what happens i guess when most of you are snowed in, lol.  RCN  I never put up a tree cause the boys (17 year old twins going on 15) refused to bring the decorations up stairs and I couldn't carry them this year, so I brought the fake tree I bought them years ago and put it in my room and decorated that.  I have ADD so I have things scattered all over the diningroom table cause we don't sit there.  They are really immature with the ADHD and the twin thing.. they are sleeping now at 10am thought they would shovel for people to make money, guess not.  Want to go out cause I have to take gifts back to Walmart and KMART cause don't want them, sounds mean huh...would rather have the money to pay bills cause I haven't worked in 3 weeks. I am going to be the one to go and dig me out, it is about 12 inches is what I hear or at least that is what it is at Philadelphia airpot...

The teenager girl thing is way annoying, my oldest granddaughter is 15 other on 12 and on her way to being a teenager at 12...would never wanta go back. Oh and I hate to cook!!!

First day in a week to be home alone, so I can clean.  I can't do it the way I like when DH is home, because i tend to clean deep, which means everything gets moved, emptied or cleared off.  It also means things look a bit messier until they get completed.

I have just a wee bit more to do in the master bedroom, then to the master bath.  Ants have been coming into the house when tit rains and I have bait all over.  I want to sanitize the counters and get everything back in it's place.

    Busy, Busy Day!

(((((((((Sandy)))))))))) - sorry the boys are being slugs and don't feel they should help out.  Grrrr.

I think I have ADD too - I have stuff all over the place, but then I feel overwhelmed and need to try to organize.  It's as though I can't think with stuff everywhere.  I feel such a sense of calm when a space that was cluttered is emptied.  Like my basement.  We had to take everything out of it and now I want to keep it that way!

Meece - you are so good to clean so thoroughly.

Be careful shoveling, Deb.  Thankfully, the snowblower started up.  DH did our driveway and the elderly lady's driveway across the street.  Hopefully the wind won't just blow the snow back after everyone clears it.

Same thing here, I feel bad for the family that had the house in Scituate, MA the ocean flooded it and somehow caught on fire.  It was vacant but the neighbors had to evacuate.

The wind is terrible, poor DH every time he would turn the blower thingy to keep the snow from blowing in his face, the wind would change and blow it in his face.  He looked like a snowman.
