Thanks for all the cake and well wishes.

    Tonight has indeed been memorable.

Hubby got home from work and we both commented how cold the house was feeling, but we just thought it was the unseasonable & extreme cold outside. Anyhow, we were working on packing and didn't give it a lot of thought.

After a few hours and me adding more & more layers, he abruptly went and looked at the thermostat....... to make a long story short, the furnace had gone out. BRRRRRRRRRR

He went down to access the situation and I must say, that the furnace fixit guy showed up in just under an hour. He determined that the whole thing had shut down because wasps had built up a nest in the intake something and then with all of the presipitation/snow/wind the thing froze over.

In any case. We are just now starting to warm up!!!

    Heat.

    A good thing.

    Thanks again for the cake!!!

Hope that everyone stays warm -- or in Vivvvvvvvvvvvy's case stays cool.

It's a wide world we live in, isn't it?

    Faith!! Luvey!!!

Happy birthday!! Ohhh, sorry that I missed that! Last week of school with inset day and hospital appointments x 2 to add to the manic "todos", so didn't take a peak for a few days here.

Hope you are having a fab Birthday week, and extending the festivities as much as you can! Strech it out! Birthday week seems an altogether more equitable notion don't you think!!?? How can one possibly get all the celebrating and undulgent pampering done in just one day! too short a time if you ask me!

Hoping you are having a brilliant week of it!

Hi Barbe! (you'd be impressed, am in bed and it's just 20:56. Thoracis specialist again in the a.m. Please God he orders the lung/heart function tests, as the ct or chest and abdomen have now been delayed, probably until Jan. Me big tired Lemonette. But still grateful.

I could do with an extra week between now and Christmas!

    xx hugs to all bunnies!

Hi Vivvy! Snow expected Thursday here in Southern England.

Good evening dust bunnies.  Got a bad cold yesterday and then sprained a muscle in my chest coughing!  Am taking some OTC stuff that appears to be working (and, of course, Advil).

Faith ... Happy Belated Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Your post made me smile - you seem so happy.  Safe travels.

Shiny ... boy if its not one thing its another.  Hope you get this stuff all taken care of.  Peachy vibes to you.

Barbe ... my friend's mother had Alzheimers and she thought she had it too.  I told she did not have Alzheimers she was caring for someone who had Alzheimers - big difference.  I never had a good memory so I won't know if I get it or not!

Lucy ... so sorry your friend can't make it for the holidays but hope you have a very Merry Christmas.

    Daaaaaaaaaaaaalings!

Nice to hear from you KMC and Holly. hugs to you both.

Barbe, the scans ordered by the mac millan onc where postponed after she spoke to my gp due to the chronic nature of the pain (basically, it isn't killing you or you'd be dead by now, so it is classed as non urgent-whatever). The consult today went better then I had hoped in that the specialist seemed to want to get to the bottom of this and in due course, I get the feeling he will continue to trial and error until we sort this out. First he is putting me on double dose of antibiotic with double of my omaprazole (this should help me loose weight suring the hols as very hard on my tum!-good sides to everything!) The if symptoms are still present we get more tests. On the hypochondrium pain, he touched it and I jumped, so he is refering me for a further ultra sound, and in January, I shoulldget my ct for chest and abdomen. I just get the feeling that he is taking this seriously and happy to do what is needed to get to the bottom of this. Hope am right. Man that tax peripheral pain, tonight, grrr.

Oh think it is a double codein night, best get topped up. Need some sleep.

I am sorry ladies, bit of a me me me rant! My eyes are shutting fast and I haven't even asked about you all!! And I call myself a bunny, deeeeeeaaaaaaaaarrrryyyyyy me!

All my peachiest vibes are going straight over to you all right now, just before I fall alseep.

And to think I was too tired to write.. am such a chatter!

Shiny. Can you keep a secret?

    It's a pretty huge & thrilling secret........................

I am currently in email contact with a higher-up, who is interested in putting together a TOUR for me. Where you ask?? EUROPE!!!!! Surely that would include a visit to your very own home?

It's way to soon to get excited, except I've sure been dancing around here since receiving her most recent email this morning. Wouldn't that be AMAZING.

Don't tell any of the other bunnies. They will flip-their-wigs and more if I really truly get to come & meet you. Promise you'd say deaaaaaaaaaaary me and peachiest vibes and all things Shiny?

My passport is being processed as I type. Sent it off a couple weeks back..........

I just couldn't hold it in any longer.

    Start crossing your fingers.

    xx00xx00xx00xx

I wonder if you'll let me take a picture of the two of us??

Wouldn't that be a dream come true??

Sorry just overheard the little secret between you and Shiny.  Promise I will not tell anyone else.

We just had Oprah here so it is obvious that you too should tour Australia.

Hi, I'm new to this thread.  I definitely could use some motivation to clean and de-clutter.  I never had much motivation to do so, but now that I'm recovering from all my surgeries (I feel like as soon as I was almost recovered from one surgery/procedure/infection, it was time for another), I have neither the energy nor the motivation to clean.  I really need to de-clutter though.  I moved a few years ago from a large apartment to a smaller one (I live in NY), and I didn't get rid of enough stuff when I moved, so my apartment (although very nice) has been cluttered since day 1.  I wish I were either Samantha from "Bewitched" or Jeannie from "I Dream of Jeannie" so that I could just wrinkle my nose or blink my eyes and have my apartment be all shiny and clean (with no clutter).

Welcome LG300!    How I do it is instead of trying to tackle "it all"... I just make one section my goal for the day....  If I looked at the whole picture I would become overwhelmed...

Although... if you look back on this thread, we encourage no housework days...lol

    Again, welcome....

Thanks everyone for your warm welcomes!  My maid came today, so my apartment's more presentable today.  It's nice to have a clean bathroom and kitchen, even if there's still a lot of clutter throughout the apartment (she cleans around it).

    LG100,

Hi! I feel for you coming here for tips on cleaning, and finding often we've moved on to other things. We all do our best, but our best is very variable depending on each days priorities and what ever aches get in the way. I think declutering, getting a few systems in place, then ACCEPTING WITHOUT GUILT that we will and can opt out of those systems and ditch the dusting whenever life throws us a "lemonette-aka broken body" day, or grants is some special opertunities or blessing which must ALWAYS come before the household chores, then we do alright. Live is for living and enjoying each and every oportunity that comes our way.. the dust can and will quite reliably "wait for us" t'il we grant it a bit of our precious time, but "dust comes after all the important stuff".

For decluttering, no matter how lovely your things are, you can appreciate them if they are amongst too many other beautiful things, so pick you current favorite things, and thin out the rest, stored into tidy boxes in a spare room. If you haven't missed them in a few month and you actually enjoy the airy more organised feel of you place without them, then after those few month, sell, donate, treat some one to them, like a woman's shelter to beautify the flat of someone having to start from scratch with no beautiful items; You will get a lovely feeling knowing that your cherished but too plentiful things are brightening someone else'd place. And also in return, you will have a much more easy to tidy and clean, uncluttered house, and a good feeling inside, and, more time away from dusting to enjoy yourself.

    xx hug

    Shiny

xx to all bunnies, sending you and especially Coonie my bestest vibes.

    FAITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i HEARD YOU TOLD MY DH TOO JUST BACK FROM iTALY. We'd love to see you and my kiddos, especially my SEN dd with be so pleased!!!!!

I was quite broken yesterday, not spirit just body. The walk to church and back with all of the kid's school, seemed to have been the last straw, my lemonette body was "on the floor" so to speak!! I wanted to pm you, but then I was in very high demand with the kiddies last night.

I will pm you as soon as all my last minute Xmass treats have been wrapped and all my thank yous and cards have been sent to the school etc.

Keep me posted, and PM me any developpements if you don't mind so that I don't miss them, and in true happy but broken lemonetter mode these days, and rushed off my feet. DH off again tomorrow but just for 1 day, then he is off for the holls, so I am praying for a long rest on Sundayam.

Can't wait to hear details!! btw: I am 45 mins from London on the train, if that is useful for you to know.

LG100 ... Welcome!  As you have guessed, not a lot of cleaning goes on here!  My goodness, you have been through quite a bit of surgery.  So sorry but completely understand - me too!  It has been two years for me and feel like I am just getting back to 'normal' - whatever that is.  Anyway, welcome again - there are a great bunch of bunnies!

Shiny ... so sorry to hear you have so much to do and feel so awful.  You are a better woman than me - I just hit the bed and stay there when in pain.  Your poor little lemonette body.  Please take care of you.  Isn't it wonderful to finally see a doctor who takes you seriously?!  I switched primary care physicians and it has been a world of difference.

Faith ... how wonderful ... simply grand.  Congratulations.  Now instead of being just a traveler you will be a world traveler.

Sharon ... good morning - I, too, am a visual learner.  Mostly I like to visualize someone else doing housework.

Arnie ... always so great to see you.  How is your DD progressing and how are Lilah and Trent - did I spell Lilah right?

How cool is that????  Faith going to Shiny's land!!!!   Can you take me in your pocket???!!!  At least give Shiny a big ol' hug for me!!!

Kathleen..  dd is doing as well as she can with her bad back.  Bless her heart... She needs a disc fusion but doesn't want to do it until the kidlets are older.  The recovery time is soooo long.  I'm going to a pain clinic next Tuesday and I'm hoping they accept her insurance, if they do we'll be making an appointment for  her.  The kidlets are doing fine :-)  We have our little Lilah today.  Watching "Despicable Me" with her poppa.  Lots of laughter coming from in there so it must be a funny one.  Trent is doing sooooo well in school, I'm so proud, he is the child of the month  and his teacher says he's a sponge.  :-)

Shiny, thanks so much for your note and your de-cluttering tips.  I like that this thread is not all about housecleaning and that everyone points out that we should not feel guilty about not having a perfectly clean apartment.  Whenever my mother comes to visit, she always suggests that I take advantage of having this time (I'm not working now) to de-clutter my apartment.  Unfortunately, in addition to having a lack of motivation and feeling that having a cluttered apartment is not that big of a deal in the scheme of all I'm going through, I also just don't have the energy most of the time.  I like your "lemonette" comment - and I hope you're feeling better.  I'm finally feeling that I'm starting to recover (vs. earlier this spring/summer/fall where I felt I moved one step forward and two steps back).  However, we're all still healing.  Sometimes I reach for things or try to pick up more groceries that I originally did post-surgery, and I'm so sore afterwards.  Anyway, I decided I'm not going to feel guilty about the clutter in my apartment, but I'm going to try your "pruning" suggestion.

kmccraw, thanks so much for your kind, welcoming comment.  There are nice women on all of the BCO threads, but this one seems to have some of the nicest!

LG, I expect we all have time, but it takes so much energy - physical, mental and emotional to do a declutter, or anything really. Thats what most people don't understand (but we get it). Some times the price thats paid for the chore is not worth it.

Shiny - so sorry for the aches and stuff Tongue out especially this time of yr when there seems to be even more needed with Christmas prep. The children and I decided to take back christmas and not go crazy with stuff in order to keep up w others. This yr lots of gifts made, decorations more realistic and fun (red and green chains, but not outside lights) and enjoying the process and season and each other. I just can't keep up with the commercial part.

    Hugs to all!

Yes, but remember that surgery went terribly wrong... That's when they severed her nerve cord!  Anyway, the recovery time is basically about 5 months... without lifting etc.  Who can do that??? She's not even 30 yet...more baby.  Sigh, is right Barbe, you have a lot of responsibility on your shoulders, (and back)!  ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))

I do remember that, but we never got a follow-up on her. If they severed the nerve she should have no pain somewhere. Somewhere, the nerve is disconnected....hmmm.

My knee blew up because my pain meds disallowed telling my body that I was grinding bone on bone so I just kept on going. I'm afraid that's what will happen with ALL my joints.

Back pain affects every inch of your body, my heart goes out to her.
