That is good news Sheila. Thanks for the DC update. Sunny and 75 here in mid - Michigan. Waiting for the big in state rivalry football game. DH and I are home alone ready to watch it on TV.
-
Sitting in the hotel room @ Jekyll Island after an all morning bike ride around the island. It is sooo amazingly beautiful It is hot in the sun, but wonderful in the shade so cool. We are going to walk in the beach in a bit. I'm planning on watching the LSU - Florida game tonight with my DH. We are going home tomorrow stopping in Jacksonville to see an old friend and then in Gainsesville to see our oldest son.
-
Sounds like you're having a wonderful weekend Mary. Have fun, enjoy the game tonight and safe travels tomorrow.
-
I dodged the bullet last night, no frost! So there is still hope for my tomatos ripening up so I can make and freeze sauce. Now if we could just get a few days of sunshine. . .
-
Our temps have moderated and actually gone warmer than normal. more like September rather than October. We are almost having more moderate drought conditions, some communities farther south are talking water restrictions again. right now we are -1 inch for October. The weather men are saying that next week will be peak leaf watching but they have yet to start changing.
Sheila
-
Stunningly beautiful spring day here today, temp in the low sixties, clear blue sky and a gentle breeze from the south east........mmmmmm.......more days like today please.
-
It was like a beautiful spring day here, too. I have started bringing plants back into the greenhouse for the winter. i don't want to be under the gun to do it if the weather turns too quickly. Still a lot to do, and I need to buy some frost blankets for the stuff that is too big for the grrenhouse.
-
Summer yesterday, shorts and t shirt - winter again today, sweat pants and top again! Someone once said spring weather is like a teenager - you never know what it is going to do and the changes are quick and extreme. Nasty Southerly blowing with squally showers today, same tomorrow and rain Wed so they say - yuck! Back to work this week - holidays are SO nice.
-
Light summer weather today. 9 at night and 74 degrees.
-
Beautiful day today. I'm off for the holiday. Sitting outside with my furry children. It is 86 degrees with a slight breeze which is cool.
-
Currently 57, got into the 60's today, with a freeze advisory for tonight. Got the tomatoes brought in to ripen, and bunches of herbs hung up to dry. Quite a few tomatoes sitting on the window sills to ripen, too. Good day!
-
We had a beautiful sunny day yesterday with a temp of 80 degrees. The cold front didn't come in as fast as was expected. Today is Sunny and right now it's 52 but we're supposed to be in the mid 60s. We actually could use a little bit of rain. I'm really enjoying it though.
As a side note - my newest granddaughter Lily is due on Friday! I'm on Grammy watch, my daughter wants me in the waiting room and then if she needs her Mama she'll send her hubby out to get me : D I can't wait - this is number 4 and our second granddaughter. Life is good.
-
Suzette, so very happy for you. That is one thing I have learned through this. It was hard and not so good, but there have been and will be wonderful things on the other side. My first is due in March.
Not as hot today, supposed to be up in the 80's but it cools off nicely in the evenings. We really need rain, though.
-
Congratulations Mary. Grandbabies are wonderful.
-
60 degrees outside, sunny with just a little breeze. Beautiful day!
-
Temps are closing in on 90 right now. Guessers expect tomorrow to be about 93°. Could sure use a little grandbaby to cuddle.
-
It was cool this morning and this afternoon we got close to 80.
My son took me to lunch today and my parents took me to supper for my birthday. I spent part of the afternoon playing in the dirt planting lily of the valley on my bank, funny it wasn't as much fun as it was when I was a little girl.
The weatherguessers said that it would start raining after 10 tonight, they were wrong, it started raining about 7:30. I didn't get the monkey grass planted today. I will try tomorrow if it isn't raining too hard.
Sheila

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sheila!! Sounds like you had a lovely spoiled day.
We have had a terribly cold and windy few days and then rain again today - missed out on my first night of twilight team tennis play because of it.
-
Happy belated birthday, Sheila. Even at my age, playing at the dirt is fun. It takes my mind off things.
I am planning a "koi" show for the 22-24th this month, and with everything that has to be planned, I haven't had a lot of play time in the garden or greenhouse. I have to get the greenhouse ready for the frost, as the first one is expected by the end of the month. Our average expected first frost is between the 1st and 15th of October, but with 90+ days that won't happen this year.
-
40's today, rainy and getting pretty windy, it's a real Nor'Easter coming down from MAINE, is that YOU NativeMainer sending it to us??? LOL Turned furnace on, but set at 65, so it hasn't come on yet this year. I'm sure the whole northeast is getting this type of nor'easter, which if it was colder, we'd be having a blizzard with the winds. Since we had a nice, calm, dry, hot summer, we cannot complain...it's a typical Fall actually. Though still having annuals in the front small garden IS unusual for this time of year, I'm sure they are goners after today. Got pumpkins we grew ourselves on the porch, and tomatoes as well (gotta pull up those plants, think any of those green ones will ripen anymore???
) Enjoy the weekend everyone...to be nice Sunday. ~juli
-
juli0--If the green tomatoes aren't rock hard green they will ripen on the vine hung up in the house. It can take a few weeks depending on temperature and humidity levels. You can hurry th process some by putting ripe apples near the tomatoes.
-
cooool, thank you nativemainer! They are kinda rock hard green though. As I'm sure you get the same weather, probably worse up there (meaning frost/colder) really can't complain about having annuals still out front and not having had the tomato plants pulled up yet! VERY unusual...and thanks for the nor'easter~!!!
Have a great weekend...to be nice Sunday, my bf and my only day together anyway. ENJOY where you can, right? ~juli

DH and I went to the movies tonight and saw RED. It was just hilarious. We came out of the mall and it was down right cold--for us. It is 68 degrees and I have on my long pj's. Once it gets below 72, we get cold here. But remember, we live with 90's and 100's for a long time. Watching the baseball game and hope the Yankees lose. Have a great weekend everyone.
-
I'm going to see Red later today, glad to hear it's funny.
There was some frost around the other day, but not in my garden, yet. Good to see the tomatos hanging up on the sun porch, hoping Silly Sadie (my 2 year old Lab/Hound mix) stops taking the loose ones off the windowsill to use as toss toys.
The wind has calmed down some, but it's still raining. At lest it isn't snowing!
-
Hmmm, I haven' even heard of Red. I will have to look into it. DH isn't much of a theater goer, but maybe I could convince him.
As I was driving home yeasterday at 4:30, it was still 90. The weather is supposed to cool down this week with high temps in the 60s next weekend. Not great for my outdoor event I am putting on.
-
does anyone know how to reach smithlme?
-
No, and it's been a month since she has logged in. I wonder if she's had computer problems.
-
We got 8/100" yesterday. More due today.
-
Our weather is dry, but delightful. It is up in the mid 80's during the day and down in the mid 60's at night. Air conditioner hardly runs at all. Only thing we could use is some rain.
-
It is a dark dreary day today. The roads a drying a bit, but lots of dark gloomy clouds.
