Baby it's cold outside

Had some big storms today and lots of rain. We went for a walk this evening and it was 76 degrees. It felt so good. Supposed to be in the high 80's for the walk on Saturday and nice on Friday when we go to the beach.

Has anyone heard from smithlme via PM?...she hasn't posted since 9-7-10.
-
I haven't heard from her. I hope everything is ok with her. Will say prayers that all is well - maybe her computer had problems?

The big SGK in Charlotte is this weekend and the weatherguessers are calling for rain. They were on the local TV station (sponsors) yesterday and said last year they had 25,000 at their race. Charlotte affiliate covers 6 counties and it is all metropolitan. Our SGK (NC Foohills) covers 3 counties mostly rural and they are hoping for 3000 participants this year. I don't know if I could cope with 25,000 people at the race. My team has 12 people registered and I pick up the team packet this weekend.

I still have to wonder why there isn't a SGK here. We have one of the largest Relay For Life events in the country.
-
Our SGK is in April and the ACS Breast Cancer walk is on October 23rd. I have a team registered but need to get going on getting friends to sign up.
-
Meece, maybe you need to spearhead a SGK.
-
I might have to look into it.
Hey,you DC fans, NEWSFLASH!
The Hilstrand Bros. and Capt. Sig will not be returning for another Season. They are being sued by Discovery. What fun is that?
-
I wonder how much work it would be to get a SGK started here.
-
Well, if you can be a good delagator, probably not tons of work...but definitely the inspiration starter.
-
Meece--why aren't Cap'n Sig and the Hillstrands coming back to DC, do you know? Without Cap'n Phil and those guys there won't be anyone I know on the show anymore!
-
Morning Joni - whenever I see your smiling avatar I
too.
-
This is what my DH emailed me this morning:
A trio of stars of Discovery's hit reality series "Deadliest Catch" have left the show.
Capts. Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand -- who were sued earlier this month by Discovery for allegedly not performing work on a planned spinoff special -- as well as Capt. Sig Hansen, said in a statement Tuesday that they were "unable" to continue on the series due to the litigation.
"We have been through a lot over the past year and unfortunately given the current situation with Discovery we are unable to continue participating in 'Deadliest Catch,'" the three crab fishermen said in a joint written statement. "It has been a fantastic ride, and we wish the best to all of the amazing and supportive 'Catch' fans we have met over the years." -
I have an event I am dealing with planning right now, but might look into the SGK in the future. I wonder if we would get the support since ACS has such a big event here already.

Awwwww shucks Rae-Thanks
-
I can't believe the news about DC. I'm so sad!
-
Me, too. I was looking forward to seeing them help Josh H. become a captain someday. not that they won't now, but we won't see it.
-
Can you believe I have never watched that programme? I didn't realize it was a sort of reality show - I thought it was just repeats of several programmes about the crab fishermen, lol
-
Nope, Rae, we got familiar with the cast over the past 5 years. Yes, reality, yes editing, but interesting none the less. One thing about it, you didn't have a lot of sex and clevage going on.
-
Well, it's a relief to hear that Meece as most producers seem to think that 'tits and bums' is the ultimate drawcard for shows. There has been controversy over our version of Top Model this year as they did a topless photo shoot (the girl's breasts were sort of covered with swirling mist) and the contestant was just 16. I am not a prude but I think it was unnecessary on a programme that airs at 7.30pm and is no doubt watched by many young people to do a topless shoot. Skimpy bikini fine but topless just too far IMHO.
-
That is sad that they think that everything has to be driven by sex.
-
I agree, 16 is way to young for a model to go topless and why did they have to do a topless shot and why does everything have to be driven by sex? That's why I loved DC. That's why I'm a TVLand junkie watching all of the old reruns of the old sitcoms.
Off my soapbox now. We're at 54 degrees at 10 am here in mid michigan. Must bring in my plants tomorrow as we're to get widespread frost this weekend and being in the country, the temp tends to be much colder than in the city!
-
Was cloudy and 65 today but we are going to have 4 FINE days and temps up to 66 - can't wait! We are going away for that time so it is nice to have fine weather for the trip.
I watched a little of a DC programme today but found it a bit hard to follow not knowing the relationships between the people. Reality shows are not my thing really anyway - I would rather be watching some Nat Geot, Discovery or Animal programme.
-
I know which channel TVLand is on, Fox News, and Discovery. Oh, and FoodNetwork, but ask me about another station and I would have to defer to DH, aka the keeper of the remote.

Beautiful!
-
The desert wasn't too hot this week. As we drove through Tucson it was 104 thursday, but we had a pretty mild time otherwise. It got cool, but not cold Ffriday night at the football game, but I only wore a sweater to keep the bugs off. I hate bugs!
-
Beautiful picture Mary. We had rain all day and I think it made it to 50 degrees for the Michigan State football game yesterday. DH and his buddy were sitting at the stadium with 77,000 of their best friends getting wet and cold. I watched from my warm house on the TV. We are sunny at 50 today. This is one of the coldest falls I remember in a long time. Michigan is making up for the glorious summer we had.
-
Finally cool today, 60. Very hot summer here indeed. Hope it doesn't mean a snowier winter :O
suzwes, you know what that's like! (I'm from the snowbelt area of Central NY) ~juli

I can't wait to get home. DS says the weather has been in the 80-90 range. We are about 100 miles away and the temp is 89. Not truly excited about the weather, just want to be through with this car ride and get home and show my new plants their new home. I picked out 4 adeniums at a nursery I like, and my Brother and SIL gave me two neat desert plants from their yard. The tough part is that I have been instructed not to disturb them until March. I know that from past experiences, that I should follow these instructions,, but nothing says welcome home to a new plant like a new pot!
