Baby it's cold outside

this morning I woke up to 70 degrees. this afternoon should be nice and steamy near 90
. I actually left the window fan running all night and didn't get too cold.

The weather here in Toronto has cooled back to spring temps. Our peonys are now in full bloom.I just wish we could have them all year long.
-
I think today was supposed to be cooler, but it was warm overnight.
Nope I was wrong, it's only 60 outside right now. Although it is 75 in the house. We are thinking about getting a window AC unit for bedroom. That way we wouldn't have to cool the entire house at night.
-
We interrupt this thread for a late breaking news story....WE HAVE SUNSHINE!!! I almost forgot what it looked like! I thought maybe someone was shining their car lights in my bedroom when I woke up, but, nope, it's the real deal.
Yep, we're way up north. Not quite ice berg country but pretty darn close. Tourists come up for vacation and I feel sorry for them. They're in shorts, flip flops and a brand new sweatshirt that has Fort Bragg written on the front! For some reason people think beach = sunshine and warmth. Maybe 2-3 days of over 70 degree warmth, but nothing to sweat about!
Meece, I use to live in Antioch and it would be in the 90's and 100's most of the summer. I had a window air conditioner and loved it. When I was going through chemo I could actually smell the chemicals in the AC because my sense of smell was so heightened. Now....I open my windows to cool the house down...doesn't take much up here!
-
YEA! Sunshine for Smith! After several cool days we are now getting warm and we have sunshine. We'll be near 80 today and well over 80 for the next few days. Have a great day!
-
well after a couple nice days we are back to rain in Southern Oregon-sucks! Although, I'd rather have rain than 100's!
-
Well Joni, although you are more inland, you are even more North than Smithlme. You could be nearing snow country at least.
-
There's snow falling on the Siskiyous as we speak!
-
Burrrrrr. I will enjoy some sunshine for you, Joni.
-
It's still sunny. I went into town and about got blown over. The wind is ridiculous. No wonder we have sun, the wind blew the fog away!
-
90 degrees @ 8:30 tonight. It was a glorious sunshiny day though. I've learned that we get used to what we live with. My sister lives in Syracuse, NY and can withstand those winters, but cannot stand our hot summers. I've moved many, many times due to military life and the ministry. Moved enough to know I wanted to live in the sub tropics, but only with a pool
We run our air @ 79 degrees and have celiing fans all over. We rarely run the heat in the winter, just snuggle under lots of blankets and put in a space heater in the bathroom to get ready for work.
No rain on the horizon. Hoping to finish my butterfly garden this weekend.
-
Baby, it is not cold outside. 97 degrees. My husband got up @ 6 am today and dug my butterfly garden this morning. We got the plants/bushes in. The family is coming over a bit later to swim and cook out. It is hot, hot, hot.
-
Saturday night it was so hot I closed my bedroom window and ran the window AC unit in the LR all night long (my house is less than 1000 sq ft).

Saturday was in the low 80s but the humidity was stifling (felt like the upper 90s) and my sister and I were at graduation parties outside all day. We were wiped out after the parties. Then today and yesterday we're back to the lower 70s - no sun. Technically it's still spring and it's absolutely Michigan so this is all to be expected.
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend- I wasn't on the computer - it was a low energy weekend for me so I slept a lot in between activities. Hope for more energy next weekend when my girlfriends and I are going to northern Michigan for a fun wine tasting weekend (diva's uncorked).
-
Sounds like fun, Suz!
Today is supposed to be 98 degrees. Yesterday my greenhouse was 106 until I fixed the timer on my misting system, which brought it down to 94. 70 degrees at 6:00 this morning.
-
Warm!!! Do you have to deal with humidity too Meece?
-
Not much, they say it's a dry heat, so is my oven, but I don't sit in it!
We have a lot of agriculture around and it does bring up the humidity some, but nothing like the southern states.

Saturday evening we had a cookout at the church we called a family celebration (instead of doing dinners for mother's day and father's day separately), it was planned before the lightning strike last month. We invited the local fire department to come by and celebrate with us and to thank them for saving the main building. It was hot in the picnic shelter but we installed outdoor ceiling fans that helped to keep a breeze blowing. After we ate we had a flag retirement ceremony for damaged and faded flags that was directed by one of our boy scouts and his father (assistant scout master). The ceremony was a beautiful thing, we started it about 7:00 pm and by that time the temps were dropping and the sun was behind the trees to the west of the fire pit so we weren't in direct sun.

What a nice celebration Sheila.
-
We have clear, breezy sunny skies!
-
We got a bit of rain today. Currently it is 91 degrees. Yes, we have the high temps and the humidity, but one gets used to it. When I went to Vegas, I thought I would dry out.
-
It can easily dehydrate you in the dry heat.
-
Yep, I really hated it, but I suppose that is because I'm used to humid heat. Nice evening here. We walked around the yard and looked at our new butterfly garden.
-
suzette, we never got a final word (or atleast I didn't see one or even more accurate---I don't REMEMBER seeing one) on your Sex in the City injuries. (now, anyone who doesn't know will that is, is going to wonder!!!!)
-
Ha ha ha - oh my what an adventure. I still have a bruised cheek that I have to hide with heavy make up and it's been three weeks. I didn't have to have an xray or cat scan cause the doc said it wouldn't change my treatment but my cheek is most likely broken (hairline) - the doc (who I'm sure wasn't more than 18 years old) said he is a very pragmatic person (as am I) and as long as I can breath, eat, hear, see and smell that it doesn't need any intervention and the cheek will heal on it's own. YEAH!~
I still say I'd do the entire evening again minus the fall! Thanks for asking Joni.
As for the weather. We are a chilly and damp 63 - feels colder than that outside - expecting rain all day and a high of 70. Heat moves back in beginning tomorrow and we're supposed to be at 90 by Friday. We shall see.
-
We had a severe thunder storm yesterday afternoon but it only rained for about 10 minutes but hard with some lightning and high wind. last night we got in the upper 60's low 70's, calling for mid 90's again this afternoon with chance of thunderstorms again this afternoon.

Yesterday it was 98, and we're looking at more of the same today. Probably into the triple digits within the week. Anyone wanna come out for a visit? We have good AC!
-
We are under a severe thunderstorm warning right now, you can see the dark clouds north of Lenoir. They are calling for more of the same the rest of the week. Hopefully by Friday this weather pattern will break. I am going to the Hickory Crawdad's baseball game Friday night with my son for his 25th birthday.

I'll come out Meece. Especially if I can go wine tasting! I kind of like hot weather but imagine I'd get sick of it quickly if I had to deal with triple digits for more than a couple of days at a time.
Hope the thunderstorm doesn't do damage Sheila! Have fun with your son on his birthday! My daughter turned 25 last October - hard to believe it when they grow up so fast.
We're still cloudy but did make it up to 73. We're taking my DIL out for her birthday tonight and eating on the terrace - hope it doesn't rain or we'll be eating inside!
-
Definitely would have to go wine tasting. We are going to BBQ at a winery on the 4th. DH is the master BBQ-r and I will just do the "fluff".
