    Today has been a day.....whew........

From 8:30-12:30 WITH GRANDKIDS 3 and 2 yrs old..lol... we were at Todd's Appt.

Normal pressure in the eye is under 20. Todd's is 25. SO... they are going to have him come in and test his eye pressure every three months. If it goes up.. they will know is is not right and start treating him for Glaucoma. So... if it is Glaucoma for sure he caught it early..WHEW....

Thank you Sisters for your thoughts and prayers.  I love you gals.  Laura  call me dense, but when I saw your FB post, I thought you were talking about Vegas, then I figured out what it was.  THRILLED for you!!

So you any of you who've had Brain MRIs like to share with me what to expect?  I'm having one on Saturday.  I've had my shoulders done so I kind of know what to expect.  How long will it take and will they inject me with something?

    Hugs--Karen

When I had my brain scan, they didn't inject me with anything.  It was very noisy, but not uncomfortable.  I just kept my eyes closed the whole time.  Sorry, I don't remember how long it took...Hugs back-   JUDY

Laura -- So, so happy to hear your good news about your scans.  However, I was saddened to hear about your husband's eyes.  I hope the treatments help.  I will call you from the hotel room!

Teresa -- So glad you are coming to Vegas!  We will meet up with you for sure!  We can play the nickle machines.  They are still fun!

Karen - I am so sorry to hear about your friend.   You can help her heal, since you have been through the same situation.  This disease can be so devastating.  My mom died of BC as well (12 yrs ago). Hang in there! I am so looking forward to meeting you in Vegas!

Hello ladies - Just stopping by for a quick note. I haven't begun to read all 17 pages and probably won't get the chance, but I think my highschool friend (fairportlady55) and I will be joining everyone this year. We will formally decide after her exchange surgery later this month.

BTW: I too lost two babies - one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks. We carried one to term and adopted a set of twins. So I had the joy of raising 3 kids anyhow. But it is something that always stays with you! Hugs to others that dealt w/ that sorrow as well.

JEAN.. am so pleased to hear this... YES! I cannot wait to meet you.... I just think it is gonna happen! :)

KAREN/KEW.... I have had three brain MRI's. each time they put this cage thing over my head. They then slide me in the MRI machine. My legs are out and I do not feel closed in at all. Judy is right... MEGA banging noises... really odd and LOUD. The take the pictures like this... then they come in and inject the die into the pick line ( or whatever you have in).. and then take another 10 min of pictures like this. They call this.. With and without contrast die. They told me they get a more accurate reading. ?? I cannot imagine why Judy did not get this dye? MAYBE my cancer center just LIKES sticking my FEET with the IV now that Cancer STOLE my good veins...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...... I want Judy's MRI doctor...LOL

Laura - they stick your feet?  OMG - I can't even imagine.  My feet are so darn sensitive that I would be screaming in pain just from a needle prick!  I remember when they tried to deaden my big toe, I ended up cold and clamy for nerves.  My doctor waited until all the patients had left because he knew I was going to scream.  He ended up giving me some demoral!  Yipppeeee!  That felt good, I could have cared less if he cut off my arm at that point in time.

My BIL is going to have a brain MRI done at the Montgomery, AL cancer center within the next two weeks, they are doing it with and without contrast dye.  I am so very worried about him and so is every doctor that has seen him but nobody has given him one answer yet!!!  How frustrated he must feel right now.

Ok....so are we all on for the Piano Bar on Saturday night until 3 am?  Freemont on Sunday??  Who is making the arrangements for the Piano Bar??

OMGOSH Laura!!!  Your feet?? Everytime??? I totaly know how it feels due to one of my many trips to Hospital resort.  I had 3 IV infections, so they tried my feet-left side 3 x's,no luck then right side 2 x's-they got it in-but the pain....OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, that too got infected-yet another story--just brings back memories.

Hood1980-you stole my phrase...Blonde moments/Chemo Brain & then my hubby went & added a senior moment  LOL LOL   I can always choose one or all of them when I forget.

Girls...help me out abit here.....I'm abit confused why all these scans are being done on all of you-I haven't had any of these asked for-don't know if it's due to my on going infections, but do I need to request this as well. Most of my CT scans have been done due to the hernias.  The scans done on me that some of you are talking about were done before all the chemo-do I need to check on this??  My Onc. is on hold right now,but do have to see him before May-refill time for the Arimidex.

Next...have any of you heard about getting the CA-125 blood test done?? Even if you had a full Hysterectomy?  I have alot of caring friends who tend to send me stuff sometimes without checking it out-this one is regarding ovarin Cancer & this test can tell you if you have it, but you can still get it even after the full hysterectomy-the story was about a woman who did indeed end up with this, but it went so long without detection, she ended up a stage 3.  Just curious if anyone else out there had heard of this.

On a Grand note-getting ready to head off to Portland tonite to see some of my Dance students perform at the Trail Blazer's game. I haven't seen them in over 10 years-they are from Olympia,Wa!!     I use to live & teach there for about 7 years in the 90's-I'm sooooo excited!!!  Spring break start's as well & were heading to the Beach/Ocean-one of my favorites-hear the whales can be seen-Too much fun packed into a week!!

MY Love goes out to all of you   On going Power Prayers

    Take care  Chow  XOXO Susie

IV in the foot is no fun.  I had to go that route for the last 3 surgeries due to LE.  Can't imagine what it would be like when it's just to run dye and there is no pain killer cocktail in there.  Guess I'll be doing that at my PET scan this spring. UGH!  Cancer - don't you just love it.

On a lighter note just want to wish everyone a wonderful Spring weekend!  Hope you have a great one!

    (How many days till Vegas???)

195 days till Vegas Baby!!!!  WAHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I wish they would give me pain killer's before trying to get those IV's in-due to my many many trips to Hospital resort-I'm going to start asking for a Central depending on my stay-you get numb & Dr. has gotten it in 1st attempt everytime!!!

Wishing you all a Wonderful Sunny Weekend!!

    Take care  CHow  XOXO Susie

     Susie---

I didn't have any scans done at dx or after, just a chest x-ray.  Since I was node negative docs thought better not to do it because you will usually always find something that turns out to be nothing but you end up having to have a bunch more scans.  So, I had my lung CT last fall because I had been coughing for a few months.  I've had one every 3 months since because there are a few very small nodule, two are calicified and not to worry and one tiny nodule.  So they are now following me for that, Zyrtec stopped the coughing.  I had terrible shoulder pain last fall as well so I had a bone scan, that had a bunch of hot spots but the radiologist doesn't think its mets and suggested repeating in 6-9 months--arthritis and a shoulder MRI showed a tear on my rotator cuff and bursitis.  I'm having the brain scan because my balance is really not what it was before.  I've fallen down a couple of times and when I started working with a personal trainer she had me doing all kinds of balance things and it is really clear that my left side is a problem.  My onc doesn't think it is anything, but ordered the scan.  So that is how I got into the whole merry go round of scans.  A friend told me today, "don't worry they won't find anything but a bunch of Karen in there."

Have a great weekend everyone!  Thanks Judy and Laura for telling me what to expect tomorrow.

    Hugs--Karen

Hi,  was at the BC conf. in Portland when someone mentioned the BC.org site and a get together in Vegas.  I thought I would check the site out and joined last week.  I have found the threads to be very informative, and came across this one and found it very entertaining.  Sounds like your Vegas trip is going to be a lot of fun.

KEW- came across this thread while scanning the forums. I noticed that you lived in Portland, and have a lot of similar traits as my age/cancer diagnosis.  In your profile you mention having a blm & hyst.  Was that your choice or was it suggested that you do it?  I ended up having 2 lumpectomies in one breast.  Now that I am done with treatment (as of last May), wish I would have had a masectomy.  I still get stressed out it.  To late now though, don't think my insurance will pay for it.

    Hi 2bsnapod--

If you are talking about the Komen Breast Issues Conference and the session on Coping, the two women that stood up and talked about meeting on BCO were myself and Jazzy.

The BLM was my choice since my mother died of bc at 58.  I decided back then that if it came my way I would  do a BLM.  The hyster/ooph was my choice as well, my onc thought it wasn't needed, but supported my decision.  I did it because I was 100% ER+ not even peri-menopausal at 48, and because the doc I got a 2nd opinion said I should do chemo--he kind of terrorized me.  I trust the Oncotype score and I understand the biology behind it, as a former biologist, and none of my other doctors or the 3rd onc I talked with encouraged chemo, and most on the tumor board said no chemo, but that one guy really scared me, so in my brain, yanking my ovaries was something I really wanted to do.  If you really think you want to do a mastectomy talk with your surgeon, or PM me and I'll tell you who I saw.  You might be surprised your insurance may still pay for it.  Worth checking into if it is really worrying you.  We Portland Sisters try and get together once in awhile, I will keep you posted.

All--OK brain scan was doable for a complete claustrophobic, except I felt like Hannibal Lecter with that thing over my head!!!!!! Get results on Tuesday same day I get grades for last quarter--I hope Tuesday is a good day! I did have scan, dye, scan like Laura.

Laura--SOOOOOOOOOOOO done, but know I'm not because there will always be follow up, etc., but really SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO done and just want to move forwardLaughing

Our sunny Portland Saturday has turned into a rainy Portland SundayYell.  Really ready for warmer weather!

    Annie--Thinking of you tomorrow.

    Hugs--Karen

KEW - Praying for ALL good news on Tuesday!

Laura - I'm now 18 months post-dx......sooooo ready to be done in many ways......yet a bit reluctant in others......still trying to figure out some of the psychological garbage,  I think.....  and I know about the foot IV thing......when I was hospitalized for pre-term labor, the drug they had me on required q6 hr blood levels.....luckily just as they were starting to eye my feet 'cause my arm veins had given up, the doc d/c'd the meds.....

BTW.......to add to the research......I lost two pregnancies between my two boys......
