Baby it's cold outside

Mary, i am glad you can display your husband's flag.
It was not too cold today, and only misted a few times. It did rain overnight, but not really enought ot measure. Finger's crossed for tomorrow though.
-
Wish the temperatures would stay up and we get lots of rain to wash this snow away. I wonder how many plantings went by the wayside with all this heavy snow. My youngest sister said two of the three cyprus trees will probably make it but not the third.
My sister went to New York for the weekend - she'll be back this evening. She went to see her best friend who has had 4 different breast cancers (Stage III) and still kicking. Actually she is thriving ... she and her husband just adopted twin baby boys!
-
When its cold and harsh, friends stick together!
-
Ok, I hate to complain cause we haven't had near the snow we usually get however, I'm going to complain anyway
The weathermen on all the channels this morning said we'd have 1 maybe 2" of snow today. Ok, I can live with that - we had 6" on Monday - just fyi and now there's a snow advisory for 2 - 5" of lake effect snow. It's been snowing all morning. I'm sick of it. I know you ladies on the east coast and in Ohio are probably laughing at me but I think I got used to no snow in December and January.
Anyway, I hope you all are having a great week.
-
It's been raining for two days, and the grass was just starting to peek out under the edges of the already record setting snow currently on the ground. They are calling for 6 to 12 inches of snow starting tonight through tomorrow if the storm follows the most likely track, if the storm takes the other track, then we're looking at 12 to 18 inches.
I need spring now!!!!!!!
-
We have close to your forecast ... snow late tonight ... could be anything from a dusting to 5 inches (those weathercasters sure leave a wide margin for error). I, too, am sick of snow ... ours is just starting to melt. At least when the guys from my church came over to dig us out from the last snow and fixed our snowblower! So we're reading if snow comes again.
-
I think we need to take a field trip and visit Meece in California or Mary in Florida. I think they're going to have to add SAD (seasonal affective disorder) to my diagnosis list pretty soon!
-
Unfortunately the rain is back today. Grey skies and drizzle. The storm will leave tonight and a new one back Friday. That storm is to be worse, and colder. YUK! Oh, well, I need the opportunity to do some more sewing and indoor stuff, so it will force the issue.
-
It is drizzling right now with the occasional sleet pellets included. They are calling for some snow showers tonight and only accumulations in the upper elevations. I noticed this morning that all the snow had finally melted from my yard, I don't want any more snow!!!

The ground is so gushy already, I can't imagine more snow for you.

Currently it is 52 degrees and raining. Don't mind the rain because we have had such severe drought for years. It's just getting colder again. The last few days were wonderful when we got home in the evening. The birds were everywhere and it was so warm. I'm trying to get over this second cold of the season, almost pneumonia last week. I've decided it is because the weather can't decide what to do with itself. I love Meece's term: weather guessers. My hubby would completly agree. He says they have no clue.
-
Well the rain stopped here around 9 and the gray hung around. As I was driving home there was a blue opening in the clouds. Enough to get my hopes up that it would be yard working weather when I got home. No luck. Cold and gloomy...again. Despite what the reports say CA is still in drought conditions, because there is nowhere to store the water once we get it. At least the soil is absorbing some of it, but the waters are flowing out to sea.
And I call them weather guessers, because at times I could do just as well, and I would be guessing.
-
The weather guessers said yesterday we would be getting snow (with some accumulation 1-5") between 1 and 3 a.m. Up this morning - nada! I believe this says it all:
-
What I find amusing is that the weather-guessers can put out a detailed report, get it wrong, and never acknowledge the change. Do they think we all have short term memory loss?
-
Got up this morning to high winds - guessers got that part right - cold temps - another got it right - no snow flurries - got it wrong.
-
I got up to 3/4 inch of slush/sleet/freezing rain on the deck this morning. No sign the road had been plowed or sanded all night. Since my road is 3 miles of up and down hill and corners, I decided to stay home and join the faculty meeting this afternoon by phone, assuming it doesn't get cancelled. The wind is picking up, so power failures are a possibility, too. According to the traffic on the scanner 2 major roads in the area are closed while vehicles get pulled out of gullys, ditches and each other, fortunately it doesn't sound as though there are any signficant injuries.
-
Dark clouds are beginning to appear, but we are not going to experience any precipitation until sometime tomorrow. That's what they say.
-
The guessers did get the last part right, saw a handful of snowflakes at lunch blowing off the mountain, I guess that counts as a snow flurry.
-
The guessers have done just that all week, guessed. Nothing right. It's still snowing lightly, the roads on my side of East Lansing were treacherous because the fine snow from yesterday melted on the streets and then the temps dropped and made them a sheet of ice. The radio traffic guy said he guessed that the salt trucks got to all roads but the ones in my township (our tax dollars at work). Even the police were stuck at intersections not able to get their cars going. Glad I got to work in one piece (just missed hitting a deer this morning but miss it I did).

Windy and cool all day. Very sunny. Tonight it is getting down in the 30's. I remember when we lived in Hawaii for 3 years (over 25 years ago). I was amazed when I watched the news at night only to find out they did NOT have a weather person or a weather report. If weather was a problem, it was the lead story of the night. Always thought that was funny.
-
Our top news story today was Wet Weather Leads To Potholes Popping Up. I kid you not. We must have a really dull town for that to be news! Once when Pres. Bush was here, he commented on how many potholes were in our roads. They haven't made an effort to reduce them yet.
-
My son spent 4 yrs in Hawaii but never commented on no weather reports there. He has had some fun in the snow this year but has said enough is enough!
Woke up this morning at 5:00 AM', after staying up till midnight watching Olympics, to high winds and temps in the 20's. There is actually blizzard warnings in the upper elevations today.
-
Snowing in Maine, fancy that. Let Snookie the Dog out this am, let The Abominable Snow Snookie in a few minutes later. Big, fat, wet snow clumps coming down, along with branches, trees, power lines, etc. Power was out for several hours last night, fortunately back on this am so I can grab a shower before going into town for my annual physical. Current summary for my area: flood watch, high wind advisory, winter weather warning. Bunch of schools closed or opening late. Typical winter day in Maine.
-
No snow at all, although predicted. The winds, on the other hand, are trying to blow our house away. I feel like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz!
Potholes make the front page in Pittsburgh too. Few people had their front ends aligned because you could knock it out just getting out of the garage's parking lot.
As for the weather guessers:
-
love the cartoon. We've actually gotten all of that in the same day before
I have three trucks stuck in my drive way this morning - snow and more snow and then the winds kicked up last night and the snow drfits have made the driveway impassable. DH, DS, and brother in law are shoveling trucks out as we speak. Hopefully they've called my Son in law who has a plow to come and save us. Thankfully my job allows me to work from home if needed cause I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.
What is it about men thinking that a truck will solve all problems and the bigger the truck the more it will help the problem? I kid you not, the first stuck is an extended cab s10, the second is a chevy 150 (or whatever) and the third is a big suburban.
-
Guess you aren't going anywhere soon, Suz.
We are supposed to be mostly cloudy this morning, cloudy this afternoon, with rain beginning at 6 pm. We'll see.
-
I hope it's at least warm for you Meece.
Driveway update: this morning's trucks all unstuck. Wind continues to howl and blow the 18 inches we have on the ground and the snow that's coming down now. Now, the PLOW TRUCK IS STUCK IN THE DRIVEWAY. I give up. I need to switch over to the drinking thread!
-
The weather is weird today, warm 71 degrees, windy and the rain is heading our way. Even with the wind, the weather seems stagnant and thick.
-
Cool all day and cold tonight. Tomorrow it is supposed to warm up some rain all day. It is trying to turn spoing, but not yet.
-
I meant sping
