Ahoy!  We started digging out yesterday.  What with the snowfall and the high winds, there was 2 feet of snow in back of her car!  I think they are forecasting more snow sometime over the weekend.  Lovely.

My sister did buy a snow blower which hasn't been serviced for quite a while.  When she called Sears to have service come to the house they said the soonest they could come was March.  As the guys from the church were shoveling our driveway they thought it might be a great idea to have it fixed for next year.  He added we probably won't get more than 2 inches total this upcoming winter.   Isn't that always the way?!!

NM ... that is a wonderful memory.  I'm glad the little critters will be okay.

Meece - thank you for your input into the little critters.  64 degrees is mighty cold for an office.

Absolutely beautiful weather today.  Sun is shining with very few clouds in the sky.  It is cool for us, but so very beautiful.  Enjoyed sitting out in the sun.  Happy Valentines day to my BC sisters.

We're getting more snow this afternoon until 3:00 in the morning ... they are saying between 1 and 3 inches.  Lovely.  I'm moving to Florida too!

Got up this morning to a dusting of snow (in Maine that means up to 2 inches).  LIttle, teeny, tiny flakes lazily drifting down, obviously in no hurry.  26 degrees, calm and still.  Going to be a good day to take a long walk with Snookie.

Went to San Diego Saturday and there wasn't a clooud in the sky.  I used a sweater for a short time.  Yesterday I worked outside a bit, planted some tomatoes and pulled some weeds.  It was great weather.  No rain due until Saturday, which is bad because I have outdoor plans for next weekend.

I was hoping for better weather in Houston, but...rain! It was just like being home. We got one sunny, cold day and the rest were cloudy and cold. Now that I'm home....we have SUN today!!! We spent Saturday pruning the roses and new fruit trees, tilling the garden, pulling weeds and trimming trees and bushes. There's still lots to do. Yesterday, we finally put the fencing up around our fuschias. The deer won't leave them alone so we are playing our own version of "Man Vs Wild." Bambi - zero, Woman - one. Spring is in bloom!!!!

After waking up this morning to glaring sunshine, it's snowing again in Philadelphia.  The streets are not yet cleared, a number of bus routes are still out of service, and the parking meters in the city are still free if you can find one that isn't buried in snow from the 40+ inches that have fallen in the last 10 days.

We need spring to arrive now!!!!!!

I'm loving it up here in snow-free Boston right now. It is colder here but still snow-free. Hubs is down in Virginia and says nothing has melted and that we'll probably be driving on ice and snow-covered gravel roads for weeks to come. I'm heading home on Wednesday. Nice to be back with hubs, but hard to leave the kids.

Mid-Michigan report - not much change.  23 degrees and got a dusting of snow last night (about an inch).  Sun, oh sun, wherefore art thou?????  Getting some big time seasonal affective disorder!  Lost both pairs of my gloves so have been without for the past month.  Finally willed myself to go to the store after work and bought a pair of isotoners for half off.  YEAH!

Three month Onc appointment tomorrow - my first one since I've been done with treatment.  I'm sure all will go well.

    Have a great day ladies.

Mid Maine is still under a winter weather advisory, but the latest weather guessers report is less than 4 inches.  There may be some rain/snow mix along the coast (so waht else is new? is the proper response to that prediction since it described every snow "event" that comes up the coast) but the rest is supposed to be simple snow.

suzwes, good luck with the Onc appointment!

We got roughly four inches here in Cambridge, Mass. I'm scheduled to head back south to Virginia tomorrow afternoon.

The winter weather advisory is stil in effect, so far it's amounted to some cloudiness, a bit of breeze, no snow.  or rain.  or sleet,  or freezing rain.  or any precipitation at all.  Go figure.  (I'm not complaining, just commenting on the accuracy of weather guessing technology!)

Yesterday there was a snow advisory out for the morning, the schools were in session as a make-up day for a previously missed day due to snow. It started snowing about 9:00, they released the schools on a staggered schedule (due to shared buses) at 9:45 and 10:15, but the snow stopped falling about 10:30 and by time school would have normally let out, the temps were in the upper 30's and roads were perfectly clear. So much for the snow advisory.

Patmom .. the conditions in Virginia are the same as those in Philadelphia!  Between the two snows we have about 3 feet of snow.  The plows cleared the roads ... so to speak but did not go from one curb to the other so everything is kind of one lane.

To add insult to injury ... the county is citing people who have not cleaned off the sidewalks around their property.  If you get cited for this the fine is $250 per day until you shovel!

They got some nerve.  And to boot, neighbors are turning each other in!  Our house has a huge sidewalk  -- it is not our property and the HOA has not seen fit to have the sidewalks they are responsible for shoveled.

So now we are trying to find a snow removal person ... no luck!

I HATE SNOW AND I HATE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATIONS!

Kathleen, that is awful!!!  What about the people who are physically unable to shovel?

With the moisture in the soil from last week's rain, the fog is terrible here in the morning.  This morning I actually had places on the road that I had maybe 10-15 feet of visibility.  It was scary.  Then the fog would clear and then like hitting a wall it was back again.  My top speed going to work was less than 40 mph.

Thank you Meece ... It is awful.  I guess they don't care if you are disabled!  My church people came over yesterday, dug my car out and got the snow out from around my car.  My next door neighbor called to ask if she could shovel our sidewalks - she wanted to get out and exercise - I said go for it!  That was so sweet of her.

When I rented a house in Maryland they had the same stupid rule.  I called the county office and told that I had been home one day after having angioplasty and do not expect me to shove ANY snow.  All they said was 'okay.'

Wow!  Luckily we do not live in an area with HOAs.  We just keep our grass mown and probably have the nicest looking lawn in the neighborhood.  People compliment us, but never tell us how to do it.

I, personally, would not move into an area where a HOA reign.  You have to ask them before you do anything, including burping!

I think we are supposed to get rain on Monday and if the tempertures stay in the 40s we may finally get rid of the snow.  The HOA will cite you if you don't mow your lawn on a regular basis although the common areas where they are responsible - not so much.  The sidewalk around the corner of our house up to the next one is untouched - it is a common area - where are the HOA people?

At times I wish someone would tell the neighbors they have to do some upkeep, but all in all we have a good neighborood.

I am going to be at an outdoor exhibit all day today and tomorrow and we have a 70% chance of rain today!

It is 65 degress right now and may reach 70 today.  Sun is out in full force.  It is beginning to feel like spring again.  Having the family over later for a real Louisiana "crawfish boil."  Eating outside on the patio.  Now, if it will start getting warm enough to start heating the pool up again.

glad I'm not in a HOA community. My yard doesn't grow much due to very large trees that keep it shaded. the previous owners planted rambling roses on the front bank that goes to the road (bank is 5-6 ft high and pretty steep. I have managed to get rid of most of the roses that were overgrown and am working on getting other vegetation to grow on the bank. I have tried creeping phlox and liatrope (sp), this year I am going to add curley ivey to the mix (came from my sister). I am one who has a brown thumb when it comes to gardening and I refuse to pay any money for something that I may kill so I take any starts from people who are separating their ground cover. The phlox came from another part of my yard and the liatrope came from the flowergarden at the church when they were thinning it out several years ago.

Today it is in the upper 40's and beautiful blue sky. I do need to get out and pick up the branches that blew out of the large trees 2 weeks ago during a wind storm.

We do live in a gated community with an HOA.  They are not gestapoish about it though except for the 30 foot flag pole I had put in for my husband's Navy retirement gift.  Several board members stopped by and asked us about it, one being a lawyer.  We produced the Florida statute that then Governor Jeb Bush had signed which makes a flag pole legal anywhere as long as it is removeable and portable.  Would be a sight to move it, but I've moved 21 times in 36 years of marriage and do NOT plan to move again. Otherwise, they have worked well with us.

That sounds so nice NM.  We had three days of sunshine in a row here.  Unheard of in the winter!  We've been in the mid 30s all day.  Have a nice Saturday evening everyone!
