Wyoming...sorry to hear you are having these problems. I hope that this passes and that you are feeling much better.

Kelly...funny you say that.  I achieved chemopause as well but still I find sometime in the month I fell like it is PMS...what is that about.  I get those old feelings of wanting to eat anything made of sugar or salt and I could rip someone's head off.

Not much going on... I am meeting with ( I call her my chemo buddy) tomorrow for lunch.  We were diagnosed two weeks apart and worked together.  So we went through the whole thing together.  She is not back at work yet as she has some other issues going on.  We are going to Williams pub which is a sandwich place where most young folks go and plug in with their computers.  Really nice place to go.  We have snow today but the temperature is a bit better.  Looking forward to the weekend  as I will be DAT by then.

Have a good week.   Has anyone else seen Avatar??  Just wondering if you liked it.

    Cheers

    Karen

I have little if no excitement in my life.  Last night was the final season premier for LOST.  It is almost too wierd to follow especially with my chemo brain.  Wyoming, sorry for your mouth problems.  I hope they get better so you can enjoy some food.  We have no sunny weather here so send some this way.  Oh, I did a DAA (dumb ass attack) on Friday night.  Opened the bedstand to grab a couple advil.  We were watching TV so it was dark mind you, and I accidently grabbed the senekot bottle instead.  Yes, I was close to the toilet Saturday.  I have relocated the bottle now however.  I have not seen Avatar yet.  I have the pre-onc jitters already also.  May have to dig into the Ativan.  I hope you all are as well you can be.....take care Junies.....XXOO HunkyD

I noticed lots of people on here talk about using ativan for nerves but I have a left over prescription from the first round of chemo for nausea.  It is only .5mg.  I used compazine when I needed it but can't use that anymore since I had a bad reaction to it last time I was in the hospital.

How well does ativan work for short term anxiety and can you drive when you take it?  I did a web search for it, but it talks about a use as an antidepressant and in larger doses. Just curious as I am a lot jittery about my PET tomorrow.  I know I should be glad I had a few months off but now I want more time off.  At least until it is warmer...  Kelly

Hunky I like the new term DAA. I have plenty of those too.  Too bad you didn't need a colonoscopy. You were clean. LOL. I'm sorry it probably wasn't that funny to you on Sat. How did your onc visit go?

Kelly, I use Ativan for nausea and nervousness. I don't know the mg but I cut mine in half and it puts me to sleep. During my first round of chemo I used a whole one. Any info from you PET?

Both of you keep us posted.

My sores are mostly gone. I have had regular food for a whole day now. It won't take me long to gain back the weight. Hubby is out of town until Sat. so I get the remote for my self. YEAH

    Everyone have a great Friday

So glad it's Friday.  My onc appt got changed to 2 weeks away so more time to stress.  How wonderful.  Sometimes I feel like not going.  Wyoming, glad your mouth is healing up and you have the remote!  I use Ativan for stress and sleep.  My doc Rx 1mg pills and I take one and it relaxes me and makes me sleepy.  I try not to take them often.  Just when I can't sleep or am very emotionally strung out.  It is still crappy winter weather here and I plan on doing nothing tonight.  Have the hot pad on my back and it feels very good.  Happy Friday to all....HunkyD

Hope you are all having a good weekend.  I just made breakfast and my two nephews joined us.  They are from my brothers second marriage, his wife had the two and they are identical twins.  They have been in my life since they were eight and now they are 30.  ONe of them is just splitting with his wife of only 2 years and the other just moved in with a new girl.  I am writing this because I have to say, they are the two nicest guys.  They are such gentlemen as well....my brother had a lot to do with that.   They even brought a dessert because I was making them some breakfast.   That's it, I just enjoyed their company.

Karen your nephews sound wonderful. It is nice you can still have type with them.

Hunky sorry about your onc appt being changed. If isn't one thing it is another.

I have treatment tomorrow. First blood work since I started on this treatment. I usually do this on Fridays but doc was out town. This schedule has me messed up. My days are off.

Everyone I hope you had a great weekend.

I'm getting ready to watch the Super Bowl. I'm hoping the Saints win.

Hey, Wyoming, hope you are going to enjoy the games....I really don't have a preference for this game...just will watch, stuff my face, and hope for a good game and some good commercials.  I bet your new trt schedule will through you off...will you have to work the rest of week?  I made some stuffed mushrooms, but just haven't put them in oven yet for 20 minutes.  Game doesn't start here for 45 minutes.  DH is cooking ribs on the grill.  I am taking a small break.  Did a lot of housework yesterday so I could relax today.  Karen, sounds like you have a wonderful relationship with the twins....isn't it fun to have some caring people to hang around with.  I don't have many of them.  One of my favorites from work just stopped by with his wife....he just retired after 42 years of work.  Brought us some dip.  We don't have any chips to eat it with...LOL!  Supposed to go with dorrito type chips. They are sweet people for sure!  Maybe it will work with saltine crackers!  Hope everyone is having a fun sunday.  Take care all....HD

My treatment was put off until Friday because I still have some sores in my mouth. So I have the day off to catch up here at the house. I went ahead and shaved my hair. I had my youngest daughter do the honors. My granddaughter who turned two on the fifth said "grand ma you look different." She wouldn't touch my head, but she gave me a kiss. I'm dog sitting my mom's dog for the next two weeks. He is a year and half and my dog and cat think he is a pest. They both forgot that they were his age one time. Sounds like I'm talking about a bunch of kids. LOL.

Hunky how was the dip with saltine crackers? What a sweet gesture.

Everyone have a great week. Hopefully you are warmer than me (-1)

Wyoming sorry you had to shave your head when it is so cold outside.  I hope your mouth feels better soon,  I feel like besides reading, eating is my only hobby so I can't stand it when I have mouth sores.  Kelly

    Hi All,

Wyoming, I had my hair cut real short on Saturday, to get rid of the chemo. curls.  My hair looked to much like pubic hair, to me.  So I went to a trendy salon, in the city close to my town.  The stylist, was very sweet, and did a good job, and I was happy with it, but it looks a bit well lets say boyish, to be politically correct. Oh well, it is just hair, but my head was so cold today, I had to wear a newsboy hat, just like the chemo. days. Keep warm, OK.

My onc just called tonight.  New metastatic activity in mediastinal and tracheal lymph nodes, one mass on my liver and all the skin/lymph nodes I can feel on my neck and torso.  I am strangely relieved, maybe because I knew I would be doing this when we tried the radiation again without success.  Although I liked my time off treatment, I felt like I was waiting for this. Like treading water?  Now that I am going back to active treatment I feel like I have a job again. Weird?

Anyway while I was waiting to hear I went crazy and cleaned out every closet and junk drawer in the house.  I wish I had a reason to have people over so they could admire my industriousness!! I hope I spelled that right?  Maybe I will just call people randomly and ask if they want to come see how I organized the play room craft closet?  I bet I will meet some great new friends that way (spoken in a very sarcastic tone ha ha)           Kelly

ps Guess I will go for a haircut too, I do like my scarves so I won't mind wearing them but I have my wig in the donate pile because it was never comfortable and I am never going to wear it again.

Kelly, Sorry to hear about the new metastatic activity. It's weird how knowing is actually a relief. Let us know what treatment you will be one. My head is cold. It doesn't help that we are having a cold snap. BRRRR. I already donated my wig after the last time because I didn't wear it. I hope you don't have too many side effects. I will join you in your hobby of eating. Sweets are my down fall.

Leggy I laughed when you said that your hair looked like pubic hair. I don't much of that left anymore. I'm sorry too much info.

Oh Kelly, sorry you have some progression!  I hope the best for your treatments and few side effects.  Keep your heads warm ladies.  I did just get my hair cut again too.  The little gal was kind of skeered to cut but I said go ahead.  I'm dreading next week for my appt.  Guess what will be will be though.  I'm on my lunch break and I don't have a lunch.  Really bright huh?  I was running late this morning.  Take care all....HunkyD

Kelly  sorry to hear what is happening to you now.  I hope they can stop the progression for you. I always thought the scarves looked the best.

Wyoming.. you will need some warm toques.  I hope the mouth sores don't last too long.

LeggyJ...It is easy to keep when it is short.  I find mine is so curly now and has a mind of its own.

HunkyD...good luck with your appt next week, hope all goes well.

Looking forward to the weekend...I am DAT today.  We have a holiday Monday,  they call it family day.  Will be a lie around the house day.

Look after yourselves and stay warm.

I am eating so many Girl Scout cookies.  I love the thin mints.  It will be good to finish delivering them so there is not so much temptation...

I am glad everyone is starting to post more,  I like to hear from each of you,  Kelly

Hunky good luck with your appt.

I have treatment tomorrow morning, so I will sleep all day.

Karen have a fun three day weekend. Do something fun.

Leggy what have you been up to? How is Wolfie?

Bonnie how did your plugs go? Has it helped with the tearing?

I agree with Kelly about everyone posting. It can just be small talk which helps us keep thing in perspective. Have a great weekend.

Friday is almost here.  Long weekend for me also.  Unfortunately I will be shitting marbles about my appt. on Tuesday.  I know I shouldn't worry but can anyone here tell me they don't worry about every single appt?  I might try to take my mind off of it by doing our taxes.  You girls eating girl scout cookies make me jealous.  I have to avoid sweets or my dentist scolds me.  I have quit drinking soda.  I have had two diet cokes in almost two years.  Amazing.  My teeth ars still terrible.  Oh well, have a cleaning coming up in March.  I hope you all have a great weekend.  Those getting trts, keep the charge!  Happy Thursday!  HunkyD

Hi, I'm glad to hear from everyone, as well.  Nothing new here, sorry to say.  I'm still on a low carb./no sugar diet, so no Girl Scout cookies, for me. My downfall, is pasta and potatoes!!!!

Wolfie is still a little brat, but I don't know what I'd do without him.

Thursday is the toughest day of the week, I'm DAT, but tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!!!  Yippee!

Hope everyone has a romantic weekend ahead.....Who knows, what surprises are in store.

Hi everyone,  I'm drowning in Girl Scout cookies.  I have been delivering and sorting them for a few days and I have to help "man" the booth sales this weekend!  Hopefully we will sell all our extras and then be able to forget about them... I like to fuss about it but I like doing the Girl Scout stuff with my daughter and helping at her school.  My dad's mother died when he was five and he has NO memories of her.  His sister was seven and remembers very little.  I want to stick around long enough that Elcie will remember me.

I went to the onc yesterday.  It sounds like I am going to start taking capecitabine (xeloda) and lapainib (tykerb).  If I qualify for the clinical trial they will also add something called IMC-A12 (cixutumumab).  Two thirds of the people in the study get the real stuff and the other third just gets the standard treatment.  Hopefully I can back to NED...

I feel okay and as long as I have a plan I feel better.  I am just not looking forward to telling my parents, brother, and sisters.  I am only telling them my tumor markers are up.  I may tell them more but in small bits as I think it is too stressful for my parents and I don't want them leaving their holiday early. There is plenty of time later for bad news but hopefully I can keep it to myself  (and you all) for a while.

Tell me what your Valentines plans are...Kelly

Happy Valentines Day everyone. Kelly when do you start your treatment? What are the side effects? I understand about not telling everyone. I just tell them about my markers. My mom has a hard time understanding all of it so this helps her.

I had treatment today and everything went well. Keep your fingers crossed that I don't get the mouth sores. I'm not having the treatment on day 8 so that should help.

Leggy I'm taking care of my mom's dog while she is in Florida. I wish Murphy and Wolfie could get together to play. My dog is a grouch and won't play.  My cat has started to play with him a little but they get a little wild.

Hunky hang in there. Everything is going to be fine. I have my fingers crossed and say  a prayer for you.

Everyone have a great weekend and Happy Valentines.

Hey , it's TGIF!  Work wasn't too bad today, but when I got home I hurt all over.  I was sitting on the side of the bed putting on my socks and my hip went out.  Ouch.

Tomorrow, my friend(the handy man), and I are going to the beach, and have some clam chowder, at Spuds...yummy.  I love their clam chowder!!!!

Wyoming, Kelly, and Hunky, lets hope we have good news soon.

    Love to all

I just love the mint cookies but we don't see the girl scouts around here at all.

Wyoming...Hope you have a feel good weekend...no mouth sores.  I use to enjoy popsicles when Ihad them.

HunkyD...it is so difficult going for these followups,  I hope all goes well for you.

LeggyJ..Sounds like a nice trip , is that your Valentine's date??

Well, hubby and I are going to catch a movie tomorrow...not sure which one.  He suggested it ...which he never does.  Will let you know what we see.

We are watching the opening ceremonies of the olympics...anyone else??

I want to wish you all a lovely Valentines day,

We are also watching the olympics.  I had a great Valentines day.  I told my husband not to spend money on me as the medical bills had piled up quite well this year.  I woke up to a fresh latte, a dozen rozes, and a pair of diamond earrings.  I think he robbed the bank.  I know since we were robbed he wanted me to have some nice earrings again.  Sometimes the husbands can surprise you.  I certainly was.  Hope you all are having a good weekend.  I don't work tomorrow which is a plus.  Take care all....I just hope everyone is feeling well. May you gals able to eat the sweets get a bucket load of them from your valentine!  HD

Hey Girls!  Hope y'all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!  Yesterday, my friend took me to the beach, and we had a lunch of clam chowder and crab sandwiches, at Spuds!  Yummy!  We took our lunch to the cliffs and watched the big waves, 20-30 footers! Mavericks, the surf competition was yesterday, so they had really big waves just south of where we were. The weather was slightly overcast, but not windy and about 65degrees, so it was nice.

Did a little shopping today, nothing much.

Today was beautiful!!!  Really nice day, it got to 70degrees!!!  My friend, came and picked me and Wolfie up and we drove through Knights Valley, into Geyserville and had brunch at a B&B.  Really good food, with a fireplace, really nice.  Then we took a few country roads on the way back.  Gee, this has been a really nice weekend, and it's going to be tough, going to work tomorrow.

Hi Everyone, yes I am still here and doing fine, my eyes have stopped running it is so nice to not run around everywhere with a kleenex in every pocket and both hands.

Kelly, I am so sorry to hear that things are not going to well, but I think I can understand that it is easier to know what is going on then just thinking you know something is going on. Sure hope these new treatments won't be to hard on you, but you do seem to have a good attitude. Think positive they all say I know that is hard to do sometimes so I will do it for you.  You just take real good care of yourself and keep us posted, or if you feel like it just get on here and give one of us crap till you feel better, we can take it.

Our weather is real nice spring is actually coming the trees are starting to blossom and the snow drops and daffadils are up and some other plants to. Will have to get busy and clean up my raspberrys soon.

Everyone take care and hopefully I will get on here more often.

    Bonnie
