I have been away for a couple days with my sisters.  I am borrowing my nephews laptop to check in because I missed you all!

How great that you are back chocolate.  I had just been thinking of you a few days ago.

I read everyones news and then laughed at Leggys quick I like it post.  I have not seen that movie but since I am at my sisters maybe we will rent a show and watch it when the kids are asleep.

Hope your week is starting off well.  I have been taking my xeloda and tykerb since friday moring and as of yet not a single side effect!  Cross your fingers this lasts because my parents just got home and I don't want to feel sick and worry them.  I will go check the other boards and see what others say but maybe I will get lucky again.    Kelly

I haven't seen "Australia" yet. How many of you will be watching the Oscars on Sunday? I will be. I have seen most of the best picture nominations.

I'm DAT this week. Have treatment on Friday.

Next weekend my daughters are taking a trip to Denver, CO to see "Mary Poppins" on stage. So I better get a lot of rest!!!.

Kelly good luck with the side effects.

Karen, goldfish races sounds fun! Two years ago my husband and I ripped out our carpet and installed laminate floors throughout the main floor.  The actual installation went fast, except for in the corners, but those boxes were heavy! I remember we laughed becoz it seems like every year i have a surgery, we plan a major job (one year we built a new deck 16' x 56'!!) Hubby thinks it helps me recover and get stronger, and he might be right.  You sure have to dig deep to keep going some days.

I respect you all for working after your treatments. I miss the cameraderie of the office, but I do not miss the traffic for sure! And sleeping in in the mornings is nice too. :) Hubby says I am officially retired and he will look after me forever. so sweet.  dont know what i'd do without him actually.

Kelly, glad to hear no se's for you.  I am DAT (i loved learning that!) I had a very high fever the other day, and called my onc.  She said to take some Tylenol and if it didnt go down in three hrs, i had to go to emergency. Thank goodness it came down while I slept all the afternoon. Scary! I think it was 39C. That's about 109F. This Xeloda really wipes out my white cells and neutrophils, so i have to be careful to not get any infections, colds etc.  My counts are so low these days, I move slower than a snail. oh well. nowhere to go, and i'm not in a hurry anyway. :)

I saw The Time Travellers Wife 3 days ago and loved it! It's a little bit confusing but I read the book last year, so I could follow.  Nice romance.  CL

ChocolateLover get better. I hope your fever is down. You don't need anything else to be wrong.

We finally have nice weather here. I know I talk a lot about the weather but it effects my mood sometimes and I like the sun. I went back to the beginning of this post. It is amazing how far we have come. Most of our post were about s/e and treatments. Now we talk about our families, lives, and our personal self. We are much more relaxed. This site has helped me so much. I have a place to vent, feel anxious, nervous, scared, and LAUGH. No pressure here.

    Happy Hump Day

I know all of Mary Poppins.  Had the soundtrack on a record as a child.  You know...those things that turned around and you put a needle on......Sang along with it over and over.  Probably drove my parents crazy!  LOL!  I know one thing.....just a spoonful of sugar doesn't help all the medicine go down...especially in a delightful way.  Hope all you you have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day!  I have the movies "2012" and "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee".   Later gals!  HD. P.S.  Glad your fever went down Choc!

I'm watching the Oscar's on Sunday. I didn't watch it in 09 because I had been to sick to watch anything but cooking shows. I'm hoping Jeff Bridges win's for Crazy Heart, I just loved that movie, I've always loved cowboy's.

OK, I'm tired, and having trouble writing....night.

HynkyD I do remember those records and players. I had one!! How were the movies? I haven't watched any new ones lately.

Leggy I will watching the Oscars too. I want Meryl Streep to win for "Julia & Julie". I think Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will be good as hosts.

I've been watching American Idol. So far no one person had been a break out for me yet. Maybe I'm tone deaf.

    Later,

Yes, I will be watching the Oscars.  I have seen Avatar but not Hurt Locker.  I really like Alec Balwin and Stever Martin..should be funny.   I didn't see Julia and Julie...my friend did and she said it was great  but I do like Meryl Streep.   I enjoy watching it.

I am looking forward to the weekend...the temp is going up here, can't wait for spring to come.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.  Off to bed for me.

OK, Friday is finally here.  I am settled in.  Haven't watched either of my two movies yet.  We have state highschool basketball going on here so DH watches it on the computer streaming and there is  another game he wants to see tonight.  There goes my movie night.  Only hope I have is that the live feed goes down....hehehe....pray with me girls!  LOL!   I did see the Hurt Locker and saw that a Iraq bomb squad guy is suing the film writers for stealing his story.  He said it was his life they made the movie about and even coined the title from a phrase of his.  Don't know what will come out of that.  I do love Meryl Streep also.  Have liked her in most all the movies she was cast in.  I don't know if we will watch the Oscars or not.  Wyoming...hope your trt went well today and you have some energy to tend the grandkids this weekend if that's what you are doing.  I was confused...heck...maybe you are going to Mary Poppins too.  Wishing you a great weekend.  Choc, hope your counts hold steady and your fever is down to stay.  I really try to pay attention to the new chemos because I still feel like I am headed there.  I want to be aware of what is ahead...but really don't want to know.  Don't know if that makes sense to anyone but me.  Kelly, hope your trts are treating you well with still not so many side effects.  Leggy...you are lucky girl with your weather.  I wore sandals to work today with no socks.  It was 30 degrees.  My feet felt soooooo good though today.  I looked like a complete fool probably but I don't care.  My back felt better too.  Bonnie....hows things going with you?  Karen, always nice hearing from our fearless chemo leader!  Funny how few of us still post and how so many don't.  Glad the few that are posting...still do.  I still need the comfort of hearing from people who understand.  Fight on girls....love ya all...HunkyD

After reading the post about Mary Poppins, I called and got tickets for the saturday matinee.  I am excited to go see it with my mom and daughter.  I should not have been too cheap to buy tickets before because they charged and extra 8 bucks a ticket to order them on phone or internet.  Ugh

My mother drove home with me from South Dakota on Thursday so we probably drove past you Wyoming!  I went to my sisters since her plane could not land in Rapid City because of fog.  She has seven kids and needed to get home so we dropped my daughter off at home and drove there Sunday afternoon.  I feel pretty good right now, I have been taking xeloda and tykerb for one week without many side effects.  I am lucky.  Anyway my mother and sister were sure I couldn't drive home alone so my mom came to take care of me.  :)

I will let you all know how the show is,  have a great weekend, spring is coming... my crocus flowers are blooming out front!    Kelly

Just checking in, I got a new All-in-one Canon printer and just finished setting it up, OMG it's beautiful!!!  I've had the same printer for about 6yrs, and it never worked very well, so I'm pretty excited.

HunkyD, my Onc. said I can't do chemo. again if I have mets., so I'm just not going to have them, and that's all there is too it....I don't want to dwell on BC, anymore, I have enough pain from arthritis, pre-diabetes, dry eyes........on and on BS. Oh, and last week I had to see a Dermatologist for a rash, and of course he had to do a biopsy(eczema-not cancer).  I think my body will fall apart before I get cancer again, anyway. OK, I'm dwelling.

Sorry I'm DAT, and need to go to bed.  I'm not making sense.

    hi!

I'm with you all on loving the springlike weather. Crocuses already Kelly? I'm very jealous! I just heard the first spring birds chirping outside my window yesterday.Even though we planted lots of trees when we first built out house, they are still pretty small, so all the birds leave over the winter. I miss their cheerful chirps and I'm excited to have them back again. We will probably get more snow yet, so I dont want to jinx anything.

Yes, Hunky, my fever has subsided. Thank goodness. My next CT is in April, so I'll know more then.

I MUST get going on some kind of spring diet though. None of my clothes fit me anymore, and I refuse to go shopping for double digits!. If I can get some willpower then I might fit into some spring clothes by April. Maybe you all could send me subliminal messages like: "you love celery" That should do it! lol.

I'm hoping for Meryl Streep, too.  I remember being 16 and seeing Out of Africa and crying my eyes out. She is a terrific actress.  Has anyone seen Precious? That's all Oprah talks about, but maybe she's involved? The great thing is that a lot of these films will be released on DVD next week, so we can all see the ones we havent seen yet. yay! Oh ya, I really liked Avatar too, but I thought it felt more like a blockbuster than an Oscar film.

ok - gotta run now. Hope you're having fun at Mary Poppins gals!

Kelly how was Marry Poppins? I go next weekend. We don't have any thing popping up yet but we have had some nice days. Glad to hear you haven't had many side effects. It helps with the continuing of treatment

Hunky I'm praying with you hope it helps. I laughed when I read about you wearing sandals and it being 30 degrees.

Leggy I got a new printer a couple of months ago. It sure is nice. I can copy, scan, of course print and do photos.

ChocolateLover Have you gotten my vibes that you "love celery" yet? I'm trying to help all that I can.

My treatment went fine. Even better my blood work was great. My C-15 marker is going down and my be at normal by my next treatment.  YEAH  We had fog all day but it feels like spring.  The day after my next treatment hubby and I will be going to New York. I'm really excited. For the rest of the weekend I'm going to take it easy.

Have fun watching the Oscars or what ever you are going to watch.

    Talk to you later.

Oh good new's on your marker Wyoming, and have fun in New York, with the DH!!!  I just got back from a Crab feed, and I saw some familiar faces, but I knew only one lady.  I was just surprised she recognized me.  We sat with a bunch of newbies, who didn't bring their tools. I'm full....but it was yummy!!!

Yes Wyoming.  That is great news.  Hope you have a great vacation.  Leggy, Crab sounds great.  I know all about carrying my gerber tool and I have a set of crab forks.  We don't get good crab here very often.  I love it dipped in a little bit of clarified butter.  We watched 2012 last night.  We did not like it.  Haven't watched our other movie.  Sorry about my new avitar...I am tired of trying to style my hair.  Pretty much depicts how it looks in the morning when I wake up. Take care ya all......HD

I like it Hunky.  I don't know what tools you need to eat crab but my husband is from Oregon so I will ask him.  Wyoming, you will love the sets of Mary Poppins.  Amazing that some people have the imagination to think of them and someone else can actually make them come to life.  I keep humming the songs and when my daughter had "snuffly" medicine today she sang a spoonful of sugar so I guess it was worth the cost to take her too!

Quiet weekend here, getting ready for our exchange student, redecorating the kids rooms, went for a hike saturday while the sun was out, went to Mass and shopping, then made dinner for my mom and nieces today.  We are going to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D tomorrow. The teenagers picked it.  I will let you know what it is like.

Oh we also watched the sequel to night at the museum tonight.  I thought it was fun but I am not a good critic of movies (says my son).  Hope each of you hve a good start to the week Monday, I think about you all the time and wait to see what everyone has written each day,   Kelly

Kelly just reading about all the things you are doing makes me tired, but sounds like you have an interesting life.  I get to help my husband put down new flooring in two bedrooms laminate flooring so it shouldn't be to bad, but good for my muscles bringing it in from the van up a flight of stairs. Wow good exercise, had to stop a lot and rest and my husband helped but he has a bad leg so it was really slow for him.  It will be a real job getting everything off of the floor in one bedroom as it is our spare room with bed, computer, sewing machine and a whole pile of my junk as most of you can imagine.

HunkyD don't feel so bad about your hair just looking at your avatar scared me thought you had been lurking around here and taken my picture lol.

LeggyJ  I got Hungary just reading about your good crab adventure. I just love crab

Wyomming so glad to hear that your blood work was good and yes I think it is a really good idea to just sit back and take life easy for the weekend.

Chocolatelover I have been trying to loose weight also and if you find something that helps please let me know - feel like taping up my mouth sometimes = I have been eating a lot of salads celery but I like cheese on it  (not a good idea) also I eat a lot of fruit and so far nothing has helped. So good luck.

Hope everyone has a good week

ok - who saw the Oscars? I really liked Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, but they weren't on very much. :(  Sandra Bullock gave such a nice speech. loved it. Also, i'm happy to finally have a woman win for director! yay to women!!!

Nope, Bonnie, I have no tricks to lose weight. I wish I did.  My downfall is carbs. I LOVE them. And chocolate (as if you cant tell by my login name! lol)

Thanks for the vibes Wyoming!  I turned 40 in Jan. and I keep joking that my new motto is fat and fab at forty, but I'd rather be fit and fab, so I'm going to walk as much as my energy will let me.

I love musicals. I can just hear you Kelly and your daughter remembering your fun weekend and singing all those great catchy tunes. Good times!

Yum! Leggy, crab sounds delicious! We are landlocked here in Alberta, so there's not much fresh seafood. Hubby & I were out in Nova Scotia 3 years ago and ate a ton of it. I love scallops too. Have some for me, Leggy, please. :)

I don't know if you gals love to read (i do) but I just finished a book that I have to tell you about. It's called Autobiography of a Yogi. Amazing true stories of meditation and spiritual growth. He was born in India, in the 1900's and died in 1952 in California, after starting some yoga retreats there. Very inspirational, even if you are not religious. (I'm not really) I think I might look into going to one of his retreat centers. www.expandinglight.org

Anyhoo...that's all for now. It sounds like we might get more snow tomorrow and more cold weather, so I'm going outside to walk today. take care all.

Have fun in New York, Wyoming!!!

Hey Choc. if I had a cute wig like that, I would have worn one!!!  How cute you are!  I didn't buy my wig until after I finished treatment, and was returning to work.  Everyone, said they liked it, but I thought it looked like a really big beaver hat, on my head.  So I returned to wearing hats.  Funny, I was looking on-line, for a wig for fun, just the other day.  I want one of those blunt cut black wigs, even though I was a blond.  Now I think all go really blond, like yours.

Today we had every kind of weather, you can imagine, cold, sunny, dark cloudy, pouring down rain, hail, sunny with double rainbows, and then more rain.  Tonight, it might snow....it's getting cold, for here.  My head is freezing.

Yes I watched the Oscar's, and I loved it!!!  Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were great.  They had me in stitches. My fav Crazy Heart, got 2 wins....Yeah for Jeff Bridges!!!!!  I had so much fun watching the awards.

So Kelly, how did you talk your husband into the exchange student?

Hunky and Chocolate I like you new avatars.

I watched the Oscars and slept on and off through out. I ended up staying home for work yesterday. I was DAT and slept all day. You all make me smile when I read you posts. You all are very funny.

Kelly how did Hubby react to news about exchange student? I'm glad we have people who have imaginations and know how to put them into use. I'm amazed every time I see things like "Marry Poppins" and "The Lion King". I'm definitely not one of them.

Bonnie take it easy with the flooring.

Leggy I can taste the crab now. I don't get fresh seafood very often here in Wyoming. We have to eat it frozen. So when I get fresh I'm in heaven.

    Take care

Chocolate...that is a cute picture.  I love the blonde hair.  Very good hair style for you.  Kelly, we had Japanese exchange student when I was growing up.  I was in high school.  It was really a learning experience.  The Japanese girl was my age and hung her bra on a hanger like you would a blouse.  I told her in America we throw them on floor, in drawer, etc.  She looked at me like I was crazy.  We ended up having so much fun, and she still stays in touch with my mom.  Wyoming...hope you get a bit of energy back before vacation.  Woke up to snow here today...it is melted off by now....the wind is blowing about 30mph though.  I hate the wind.  Bonnie, I know my hair is scary.  I laughed so hard at your post!!!  I may have to try a new style on my avitar.  My real hair I'm afraid can look like that though honestly in the morning.  I will work on a more modern gaga style for my next one.  Love to all....HunkyD

Chocolate ...really nice picture.  That is a nice wig.  Wow, you just turned 40..Happy belated birthday wishes.  I always think it is just a number.  I will be 48 this year.

Yes, I thought the Oscars were good.  I like Ben Stiller as the blue guy (don't remember what they are called).  I really liked Steve Martin and Alex...anything that makes me laugh is good. I didn't realize Sandra Bullock was talking about her mom, that was touching.

Kelly...I would think that would be quite an experience for your family and the student, is it happening?  What is going on with your porch..will it be built?  Is your hubby a handy guy..could he do it?

Wyoming.. you are a traveller, it is great you are able to do that.  Hope you are feeling better.

HunkyD...my question is..how do you  keep changing the avatar...I am no techy.

Leggy... I did wear a wig but I always thought it looked like some sort of animal...LOL

Bonnie...have you started your floor??  My hubby and brother are doing ours this weekend.  I just have to make sure there is food and stay out of the way.....probably bring them a few beers...works for me as long as it looks straight.

Not much going on here, the weather has been pleasant, unusal for this time of year but the rain is coming.  We are taking my daughter to the Mandarin restaurant (chinese) on Sunday as she turns 22 on the 16th.  I have no idea where all this time has gone.  It almost feels like it never happened...you know what I mean.  I sure know it has when I look in the mirror though.  Yikes

Glad everyone is doing well...talk to you later

Whee  lots of posts to read, I like it!

I always complain about my husband because he is so different from me and I think, being a man, he just doesn't get things.  Somehow over the years he has become pessimistic, grumpy and inflexible and I have become more optimistic, happy, and adaptable.  In his defense I will say this, he is very easy going most of the time and when I told him we were having the exchange student he just asked about the liability issues and once we checked on that he has been fine. She and her current host family are coming for dinner tonight.  Sadly I am just going to make a salad and order pizza with breadsticks.  I don't want her expecting actual food from me on a regular basis :)

The porch guy is coming with the estimate today.  I am afraid it will be sky high and if so I am not sure what we will do but I am getting some sort of porch this summer, no matter what!  My husband can do some handy things BUT he tends to either take forever (like three years to finish our basement) or do a half assed job if he thinks I am being unreasonable so it is really not worth the fight to make him do it.  Plus Boulder county is difficult to get building permits approved so we need someone to help with at least that part.

Going out to lunch, still no terrible side effects from the xeloda and tykerb, hope that lasts,  keep writing everyone, I will buy a lotto ticket so when I win we can all get together...    Kelly

Good post Kelly, I've been wondering how it's going with the porch and how you talked your DH into the exchange student. Had to laugh about the "actual food" thing, I loved it!  My idea of cooking is a bowl of cereal with fruit on it.  Thank goodness they feed me at work.  Speaking of food, I've been on a low carb./sugar diet, since my blood work, showed signs of diabetes.  But now two months later, my blood test yesterday showed no diabetes....Yahoo!  I celebrated by having 6 pieces of candy.  Bad Jan!  God I miss, pasta, bread, potatoes, red wine............

You all make me laugh, I think I said this before but it is true. I can picture every thing you say. I'm off to Denver this weekend to see Mary Poppins. I will let my daughters drive and I will sit back a relax. In two weeks I'm off to NY.

Kelly I'm so glad you aren't experiencing any s/e. That makes this so much easier. I took a hit this treatment. I'm still DAT and I have a rash and my feet hurt. How did the dinner go? I like the idea of not getting her used to home cooked meals, that would be unAmerican. HAHAHA.

Hunky about the bra. Doesn't everyone hang theirs up? Just kidding. I take mine off and where it lays is where I get the next morning.

Bonnie how is the floor? Karen did you have enough food and beer for your floor? Usually I stay out of the way with plenty of food and beer too at my house.

I'm off to get ready to teach, my students are arriving.

Snow and 23 degrees here ladies with the windchill.  The wind is blowing 30mph.  What a day.  All you gals taking in the beautiful spring flowers make me a bit envious.  I am so tired of this winter weather, especially when we go on daylight savings time for spring tomorrow.  Ouch.  That is going to be tough on me come Monday morning.  Went to PS yesterday and am going to have to have a bit more surgery on recon breasts, and some physical therapy.  No big thing...will be in office.  My PS is a perfectionist.  Only a couple days off of work if he does it on a Thursday he said.  We watched a movie called Old Dogs last night.  It was pretty funny. I have been doing treadmill everyday after work for 2 miles but nothing is changing the numbers on the scales.  Guess I need some subliminal celery thoughts too.  No girl scout cookies for me.  Hope you are all well as can be expected...Leggy...can't tell from your avatar, but your hair looks great.  I had to change mine up a bit...didn't want to scare anyone...LOL!  Kelly, can't wait to hear some exchange student stories.  Please share with us!  I think about ya all...a lot.  Very strong women in this June group.  Love to ya all....Happy Spring Ahead!  HunkyD
