Merry Christmas. It is a white one here. But we also have the wind and temp is 8.

Yikes, that's cold! It is 57degrees, right now and sunny. Really beautiful day. I went with my Mom and a lady she takes care of to the community center, for Christmas dinner. It was nice, good food, and since I live in a small town, I knew lots of people. My Mom's friend donated $75.00which was appreciated, I'm sure. They even had live music, wine, and it looked like mixed drinks.
Afterwards, I went over to the elderly lady's house, who lives across the street. She just got back from the hospital, and was there for a few days, and last year she went to the dinner with us. We got a dinner to go and I took it over to her house. So, while I was there I asked her if there was anything around her house that she needed help with. I changed her sheets, washed her dishes, and moped her kitchen floor. In return, I felt really good, helping someone today.
Merry Christmas, and stay warm!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was wonderful except when my hubby broke the TV. He was playing tennis with son-in-law on the Wii. We got the accessories as the tennis racket, which he had on his controller but not latched, and it flew into the TV. It looks like a bullet went through it. It got real quite then when we realized what happened we all started to laugh. So we are getting a new TV for Christmas. We now are like the commercials!
We had a blizzard and today is the first time anyone could get out. Not much snow but a lot of wind.
I have slept most of the last two days. I had treatment on Christmas Eve. Christmas day was OK but yesterday and today I was wiped out. I had my meds increased.
We had a movie weekend. We watched: Public Enemy, Star Trek, Revolutionary Road, Angels and Demons, Defiance, and Inglorious Bastards.
I'm off to bed again. Hope everyone is safe and warm.

LeggyJ..sounds like you really helped out this Christmas, it must make you feel so good.
Wyoming.. I know it says to keep the strap on but I didn't think that could actually happen. Maybe your hubby really wanted a TV and this method worked...LOL. Hope you get your energy back.
We have been busy , driving from one side of the family to the other but it has been a really nice Christmas. Actually got to spend more than 5 minutes with my kids. I say kids but they are young adults. This is the part of Christmas I like, hanging out with family and no timetable. Well, I am back to work tomorrow so I will enjoy today. We are expecting just a dusting of snow but the temperature is going to plummet overnight. Should be a crispy morning.
Went to the doctor today, I have a rash across the one side of my torso. He says it is either a mild form of shingles or possibly an irritation. I just wanted to know it wasn't contagious as we are going to neighbours today and they have little ones. He wasn't really a big help. He mentioned that the kids get a vaccine now against chicken pox... I didn't know that. Will call my neighbour first and see what she says.
Hoping you are all enjoying yourselves. Stay warm.
Cheers, Karen
-
Karen, I hope your rash isn't shingles. My youngest daughter had shingles and they really bothered her. Did you doc give you anything to put on the rash?
I love time with my children with no time table also. Both of my daughters think I only want to spend time with them because of the grand babies. LOL I love spending time with all of them. I had Addison my grand-daughter today. She will be two in Feb. We played with her babies, painted toe nails, and cuddled. I get to have my grand-son tomorrow. We will play trucks and trucks. I don't do any thing but play with them.
In March my daughters and I will be going to Denver CO to see "Mary Poppins". I can't wait.
Enough about me. How is everyone doing. Did you all have a nice Christmas. Karen I'm glad you got family time.
I will repeat Karen's sentiments: Stay Warm!!!!

Oh, so good to hear from you gals. I am still ROTFLMAO about the TV Wyoming. So funny. My gawd...I would have given anything to have a video of that! I don't know that I would have laughed had it been ours! Glad everyone had a wonderful Xmas. We had just a few and that was just enough. It has been cold here. A bird, (starling) froze to our flag pole at work). He finally died thank goodness. No way to help him, so all the people on the front side of the building had to watch him try to flap his wings and fly away for a whole day. So, I am glad I took Thursday off. Leggy, sounds like you did do a good deed. I know that it made you feel so good. I am jealous of those of you with grandkids. Sounds so fun. Karen, hope you made it through today at work and hope your rash didn't present as shingles. Seems like there is always something going wrong with our aging bodies. I am struggling everyday to go to work. I think my body is telling me after all these surgeries I am pushing it just a little to hard. Wyoming, so sorry you had to have a trt on Xmas eve, but we do what we have to do. Hello to Bonnie, Kelly, and anyone else I am missing. Seems like forever since we have posted. XXXX's to ya all....HunkyD

I wanted to wish all of you a very Happy and Healthy New Year. It has been a wonderful year of keeping in touch with all of you and I look forward to 2010 with you all.

Happy New Year everyone. Hubby and I went to Billings,MT. Wed. and came home today. Had our car serviced before the warranty expires. We did some shopping and ate. My Hubby's new year is already good because his Neb Huskers won their bowl game. It was all he could talk about on the way home. Of course when we got home, college football has been on the TV-in the bedroom as we haven't gotten the living room one yet. I ordered online from Wal-Mart for a $100 cheaper. It is being shipped to store but won't be in until after the new year.
Karen how is your rash? I hope it hasn't bothered you too much. HunkyD I'm glad you didn't have to watch the bird. I would have cried. It seems like I cry more easier now.
Bonnie, Kelly and everyone Have a great New Years day and weekend.

Happy New Year! It's just got to be better, than last year....Please God...let it be a good year!

Happy New Year all, I don't think I will be able to stay awake until nine much less midnight. We had a nice holiday and really enjoyed the warmth in Costa Rica.
One quick story about our trip: We all went to the airport in Denver and when we went through security they kept reviewing my sons backpack. Finally they asked him to step aside so they could talk to him. A security guard went through his backpack with him while the rest of us put on our shoes. A few minutes later I noticed they had called additional security. I started to get worried and went over to check out the situation. He is 18 so I wasn't sure if they would let me "help" or if we should be calling for an attorney... Then they asked us all to go over to another area because they needed to get a superior by the interview room. Yikes. We all went and were standing around waiting.
Then my son told us why they stopped him... he had gone rabbit hunting in Pueblo with a friend a week before and still had ammunition in his backpack! Luckily for us security had enough common sense to see that he was just an idiot teenager with no malicious intent so they let us go but for a little while there I was thinking we would never make it to Costa Rica.
As my other son said, it was funny after we made it on the plane but not while we were standing there waiting...
-
Happy New Year to everyone
Bonnie
-
Kelly, good to hear you had a good time in Costa Rica. How warm was it there? How scary for you and your son. Now you can laugh about it.
I made it to 11:00 last night then slept until 9:00 am. Finally took all my Christmas stuff down today. My house is back to normal.
Happy New Year and hoping a healthy one for all.

Off we go for another week of work. I can't wait until I start feeling more energetic. I go to sleep early and still fight the alarm in the morning. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Still am giggling about the wii. Kelly, hope you had a great time on your vacation! Too bad we have such tight security but it is a must these days. Hope it didn't put a big stifle on your family fun. I want all the time I have left with my family to be full of fun. Yesterday, I got my tree taken down...broke all but one nail off of my right hand doing it. I have the most beautiful glass icycles that I have to wrap individually. It is all done though now so hopefully i can get busy focusing on keeping my home clean and cooking some healthy meals. Guess I got tired of all the superficial holiday glamour they expect from us moms and dads every year. I have one resolution, to try and do more for my husband as far as home chores, etc. He has been such a great caretaker for me, I will never be able to pay him back. Not an easy task for anyone to go through. They really do have the hard job of the whole damn illness. My son has also been so awesome....I won't be able to pay him back ever either. Let us all hope that this next year will be a better year...I do know some are still going through trts, some are contemplating reconstruction, and all of us still challenged with the never ending fight against a battle to which there is no cure yet. Happy 2010 to all of you still reading and posting. You have kept my sanity! XXOO HunkyD
-
HunkyD I am still laughing about the wii also. When ever we call some one they answer "so-and-so"s TV repair". My hubby won't be able to live this one down.
My girl friend went to see "It's Complicated". I was a good feel good movie. Alex Baldwin is really good.
A blessing in disguise from this cancer battle for me has been that my hubby have become much closer. We don't let the little things get to us. HunkyD I too want my time to wonderful with my family. I try to savor every minute.
I have to get ready for work tomorrow. It will be hard because I have slept in every morning so I will have a hard time getting up. O'well I had a great break.
Have a good week.

Yes, I do hope this is a good year for all of us. The rash I had was a mild case of shingles... the doc gave me some cream for it. I can finally go over and visit with the little ones next door. I didn't want to go over and give them anything.
Kelly...glad you enjoyed Costa Rica... I bet your son was freaked out about that and yourself. Glad things turned out alright.
Funny thing,, I took down all my decorations and put them up in the attic...hubby did that part. Coming in the door today, my wreath is still hanging there.. what is with my head. Talking about the head... are you all struggling with things like talking wrong, confusion, no memory?? I am putting it down to age but it just keeps on happening.
Glad everyone is doing well, HunkyD, I find I am doing that, enjoying the moments as much as I can. Letting stupid things go and finding a happy place to be.
Wyoming...Hope getting up wasn't too much for you today. Enjoy your time back at school.
Leggy J and Bonnie....happy new year and I am sure it will be a better one.
Talk to you all later.
-
Wow I didn't know you could get the shingles in a mild form. I am glad it wasn't too painful for you.
I am already bored of being home, I know I am lucky that I can stay home but most of the time I feel ok and I am not a good housewife. I don't even like to cook. I am trying to give myself jobs so that I can do something each day. So far the jobs have been half work and half fun. Like sorting through the kids old school papers and photographs. Fun to see how small they were. But sometimes I just laze around and snack all day. Oh well, maybe when it warms up I can get out more. Kelly.
ps I told my kids the wii story, they thought it was pretty funny.
-
Hello everyone, my first day back at work was OK. I missed my students so it made it easier.
Karen I' m glad you got stuff for your shingles. I don't think you can blame age on your head, because I have have the same problems. The last couple of days my students have had to help me remember what I was saying. The wrong word always comes out. LOL
HunkyD was your hubby excited about the football game last night between TCU and Boise?
Kelly good thing you are not traveling right now with the stepped up security. Who knows what would happen now after the underwear terrorist!
We are in for more cold this week. Sounds like everyone else is too.
Stay warm

Hey, you guys should try working in a chemistry lab with chemo brain. Shit, I could blow the place up with a simple mistake of mixing a few chemicals...lol! We just have to deal with it. Kelly, I hope with warmer weather you will find some more activities. I would like to just work part time. I think I could handle that very easily. Wyoming, yes, DH and I watched the game...and yes, he was glad BSU won. I accidently cheered for TCU a few times and upset him. I told him I just wanted a good game. He wasn't very understanding with me....LOL! By the way, who the hell would have ever thought we would fear underwear terroists? Now they are going to scan everyone. Jeeze, pretty soon you will have to have an MRI to board a plane. I don't know how the new health plan will cover those costs. Well, doing a load of laundry and am already into my sweats. Prayers for good health for all and happy hump day tomorrow! P.S. Was going to ask if your husband won the tennis match Wyoming. Was he serving? That was an ace if it was...lol....XXOO HunkyD
-
HunkyD, acutually my hubby was wining and he was serving! I will have to tell him at least he had an ace.LOL It is a good thing I don't work in a chemistry lab, I would have blown up the place even without chemo brain. We had hour late arrival today at school because of the cold and blowing snow. It is only 7 out right now. I could work part time too HunkyD. I would love to find a part time job but be paid what I am making now, and I could pick my own hours. I haven't found it yet. When I do I will let everyone know.lol.When I see the underwear that the underwear terrorist wore I think he is pretty sore.
Happy hump day

Hi Girls,
I've been working shorter hours, since we are close for renovating this week, but doing the same amount of work. So I'm still pooped, but have been walking more for exercise after work. It's been nice to be able to go into work at 9am rather than 730am. Really good thing about our annual renovating on the property I work for, is there are men everywhere!!! Contractors, tree trimmers, it's raining men.. I know most of the guys, who have worked here in the winter, for the last nine years, so it's nice to see everyone again, and their all so sweet to me. One of the boys, came up to me yesterday, and said"You don't remember me, do you?" I said you look familiar, and he told me he knew me when I worked at a hardware store in town 12 yrs. ago!! I was so surprised he remembered me, and recognized me. I think I look so different, now after cancer. The next day, his co-worker, said how I used to give his dad orchids, when he worked here...so cute. BOY'S! They really know how to touch your heart, when they want something. I gave him an orchid to take home...
Off to bed,
Leggy

A warm up, the snow is starting to melt. My daughter and I spent three hours this morning walking through the neighborhood taking orders for girl scout cookies. She is a brownie so it was her first year selling cookies. It was fun, almost everyone bought some and we got to meet some neighbors that had lived here since the houses were first built 40+ years ago. One lady had a rockola jukebox in her living room and she started it up to show it to us. Neat!
We are spending the night at my sisters in Colorado Springs. Then my big boy goes back to dorm life tomorrow. Have a good weekend everyone, Kelly
-
Nice story LeggyJ and I liked the "it's raining men."...lol
Kelly, pretty neat meeting neighbours after all those years. I use to canvas for the cancer and heart and stroke and it was interesting the different people that live on one street.
Just came back from a walk in the woods with dogs and hubby. It was so sunny, quite cold but it is so energizing. Now, I will try to continue and clean the house a bit.
We are thinking of going to see that movie Avatar at an Imax theatre next Saturday. Wil let you know what it is like. Well have a good week to all the Junies.
Cheers Karen

Glad everyone is surviving the cool weather. I did a little file organizing this weekend and got the important stuff in our new safe. Destroyed old 3.5 disks and went through cds and they are also in the safe. So, not a lot of hard work, just something needed to be done. I twisted my knee at work on Friday and heard it pop, so I have been going easy on it. Iced it down and then have had heat on it last night. It feels much better today. Was a little swollen but that has gone down also. Another full week of work but then a holiday for me on Monday. Yea! Leggy, becareful when there are that many men around....you can get disoriented easly! LOL! Wyoming, glad you have such good students to help you out when you need it. Kelly, DH and I got to talking about the rockola juckboxes. I can remember the models from the 60-70 so well. I remember all the diners also had the little boxes on the walls at your table that you could flip through the songs and drive your parents crazy. LOL! Oh, the good old days! Well, I have officially called it a day....i am caught up on laundry. I made tacos for dinner on Friday. We ate leftovers on them last night again so those are pretty well cleaned up, so I will have to think of something for dinner or not! DH is hanging the door back on the room where we put the safe in so I think that project can almost be called "finished" Hooray! We watched a movie from netflix last night called A Perfect Getaway. It was pretty good. Everyone have a good week. Later! HunkyD
-
So sunny and nice today, I felt a little off this morning but needed to deliver girl scout stuff so had my husband drop my daughter and I off at school. Walked home, felt better, cleaned up, thought about going for a walk and BAM. Totally sick to my tummy, had to run to the loo. Made it in time, feel a bit better now but am going to stay close to the house and carry a basin around with me. Ugh Why can't I be sick when the weather is bad? Kelly
-
HunkyD I used bug my parents flipping through the songs too! You need to be careful. On top of everything else you don't need to be laid up because of a bad knee.
Kelly my girls never got into girl scouts, but I do buy a lot of cookies. Do you think you have the flu or H1N1? If you don't start to feel better get to the doctor. You body doesn't need to fight the flu or any other infections. It is Murphy's Law that you get sick in nice weather and the furnace goes out in bad weather.
Karen seeing Avitar at an Ime x should be great. I bet it makes everything pop out at you.
Leggy it doesn't rain men where I work. What a great perk!!!!
Hubby, dog, grand-daughter and I went for a walk on Sat.since the temp was above 0. Actually is was about 34. Finally we get to have a week of nice weather so the snow should melt and then my cat and dog will track mud everywhere. I have a yard but they find the mud. I really don't mind because when it is nice I feel better and can go for walks. I see the Rad. for my second follow up. Everything should be fine. But I do have treatment the Friday. That is a little more scary. Keep you finger crossed for me.
Have a great week and talk to you later.

Hope you feel better Kelly. Good luck Wyoming!!!

Thinking about you all, not much news here....rain today. Wyoming, praying your trts are going ok. I think about you a lot. You have a bunch of lucky students! I still remember some of my favorite teachers. And it has been years. Heck, I can't usually remember what my neighbors name is, but I do remember those favorite teachers names to this very day. It is really amazing the footprints teachers leave in a kids brain. Hope you get some time with those grandbabies too this weekend!! Hope your kids are doing fine also. I am waiting to hear Karens review of Avitar. Hope you enjoy it Karen. Kelly, hope you are over your stomach flu...Bonnie...are you still out there! Leggy, are you still flirting with those guys? Give Wolfie a scratch behind the ear for me! Take care all! XXOO HunkyD
-
Wyoming we are waiting to hear how you are. Someone asked me today if I had a support system I could speak openly with and so I told them about you all. Thanks again for sharing and listening. It really is a big help and the only place I can really say what I want and how I want.

ps You might be interested to know at my Rotary club this morning we donated to shelterboxusa.com to give shelter to the people in Haiti. We had supported this cause previously but added more support today.
At one meeting we had a volunteer come and show us a shelterbox and all the contents. They do not give the relief to the (corrupt) governments, they only pass it out directly to the people. You can see the contents etc on the website. This is not a stump for donations I just thought it was pretty cool and you might be interested...
