Baby it's cold outside

Another California girl here. The wind is howling, sheets of rain, overflowing gutters, and major window rattling. Love it! This is so rare here. I've got my fireplace going and am sipping hot chocolate.
-
Where in CA, Gitane?
It poured through lunch, but the last 2 hours has been mild. Ther is about 50/50 blue skies and clouds, and just a slight breeze. DH called to tell me to be careful as I drive home, as some road I usually take are waterways at this time.
-
It rained onl 1/2 inch yesterday. That put it at 1" in 24 hours. I didn't hear any rain overnight, so the next storm may have skipped us. Either that or it is progressing slowly.
-
Well, as bad as it stormed in the city where I work, we didn't get much rain at home. My guage only registered about 3/10" The ground is getting soaked now, and with the wind, many trees and signs are falling down. Yesterday a 21 yr old man in our county was killed when a tree fell on his house and crushed him as he slept!
-
I understand So Cal has been hit really hard. Many places have nearly received their whole annual rainfall in this one week!
-
Rain? Rain? Who's getting rain? 3 inches of snow Sunday night. Another 3-4 inches Monday. Another 3-4 inches Tuesday. 3 to 5 inches forecast for today. I'm tired of shoveling!!!!!!!
-
-
Yuck, they just announced another day of winds and rain. Rain I like, Wind not so much.
-
We are supposed to have a two day break from the rain over the weekend. Today's storm is supposed to be worse than the past two days. Wind is supposed to be severe!
-
the weatherman is calling for clouds to build today and rain starting later tonight and through tomorrow.
Meece, In December we got nearly 12 inches of snow in a 24 hour period.

Mary - from your description I can feel the sun on my face in that strawberry field, the strawberries warm to the touch and oh so juicy - what a great way to spend the afternoon!
I don't care what the weather is here - its been kinda bright, low winds, temperatures reasonable for winter so I have no complaints today. Check with you tomorrow - that may be a different story.
Native - that's why I don't live up North! I only like that kind of snow when my kitchen is fully stocked, I have a good book, a roaring fireplace, a good looking man and no where to go!
Wherever it is raining I hope it stops and wherever its not I hope it starts and wherever it snows - good luck!
-
We need the rain, so I can handle that. The wind is starting up again and the super-dark clouds are gathering. It will probably hit right at lunchtime...again. Then I can get blown around as I find someplace to eat.
-
We have finally settled back to our regular weather pattern - 70's during the day and 50's at night. Maybe a smidgen of rain tomorrow--we can use any rain we can get. Sat outside late afternoon after work and it was just so beautiful.
-
What we've gotten for snow so far this winter is pretty typical. When I was growing up what we're getting wouldn't ever be labeled a "storm." In the summer we get rain. In the winter we got snow. It wasn't a snow storm until we were going to get more than 12 inches in less than a day. Now it's a storm if there's going to be 2 snowflakes in the entire state! It really isn't terrible, I just don't like shoveling. It's actually very pretty. The roads are just wet for the most part.
-
It was so funny, the weather guessers told us to be careful, severe storm watch with high winds. This was going to be an even worse storm than any of the ones that came through this week. Well, we hardly got any rain, and the winds were minimal. I think we have another small storm coming through soon.
-
Rain, rain and more rain here. Our power was off for 11 hours on Monday and it's been going off and on ever since. We had another tree fall in our forest and another huge one is starting to raise at the roots. All this rain and wind bring the trees down. The waves in the ocean are huge and we have thunder, lightning and hail. The raindrops are as big as fifty cent pieces...
-
Wow! Do you live close to the coastline?
-
We are three and a half miles from the ocean. If the weather is clear we can hear harbor seals at night. We have an old logging road that runs along the ocean that I love to walk along in the nice weather.
And the weather today....rain. What a surprise! But it's good for the giant redwoods trees up here.
-
I have traveled all over CA when I was younger, DH has not seen much at all. I want so much to take him up Hwy 1 and see the giant redwoods! I love them. I haven't been that far north in years, but I WILL. I don't want to pass things up anymore.
-
As I was growing up, we spent a week every summer camping in the redwoods. Living here has been an adjustment, but I'm so glad to be here to heal and relax. It is such a place of beauty...
-
My father's family lived in Oregon, so we traveled up that way to visit them. Just gorgeous!!! I love the rain in a forest.
-
Heat wave today! Temp is already 21 degrees, supposed to top out at 31 this afternoon! Hanging laundry out today!
-
Good morning ladies. What a surprise....RAIN! This is becoming a four letter word with it's own mind! I know we need it, but a break between storms would be nice...
-
We have been having a few hours between storms. I am sure it is nothing like the Northern CA rain, but it is alot for us in the desert. I really look forward to the rain, and wish it wuold do so at times I can enjoy it, such as other then night and work hours.
We had a good heavy sprinkle an hour or so ago. Now the streets are drying.
-
Boy, you lose one day on the Boards and you are helplessly behind! Virginia had a "mix" of rain, snow, sleet, etc which just makes an ice skating rink of the roads. Temperatures are going up so that will be the end of that!
I woke up at 3 a.m. yesterday (Thursday), went to get out of bed to pee and couldn't walk I was so unbalanced - my sis said it is labyrinthitis (sp?) which means the viral infection I had in my chest has gone to my ears. Great. Yesterday I stayed in bed all day except to go to the bathroom, which was dicey to say the least. Today I could go downstairs. Progress!
-
We here in Tampa have gone from really cold back to our regular winter. It was in the 70's today. Rained some yesterday, alot last night and some more this morning. We needed it, but got too much at once. Going to spend some time in the yard tomorrow cleaning up the mess from the freezes.
-
kmccraw--labarythnitis is pretty common up hear during cold and flu season. Doesn't take much of an infection in those inner ear semi-circular canals to upset the balance! Fortunately, it usually passes pretty quickly. Glad you're better, but if you need some help have someone pick up some meclezine for your. It's available over the counter as a motion sickness remedy. It's the same thing docs write a presciption for when someone has labarythnitis, even the same dose, but the OTC stuff is cheaper. It's good for settling upset tummies, too. It usually doesn't make people sleepy, although it makes me very, very tired. Still, tired but not throwing up (or falling over) is GOOD!
-
Kathleen, I am sorry you have been under the weather (pardon the thread pun). But i am happy you are feeling better.
I have a day of cleaning and organizing planned for tomorrow. i am not putting too much faith in the weather guesser's opinion that the weekend will be sunny.
-
My hubby took me out to dinner tonight and announced that there was only a 40% chance of rain this weekend. When we walked out of the restaurant, you guessed it, rain. I'm flying to Houston next month for a week. I'm hoping their weather is better.
-
smithtime...You can visit NY. We are having a beautiful few sunny, warmer days. I hope it stays
