Hey Suz, Thank you so much for the prayers and support . Keep it all coming, gals and I will do the same. I was going to back out of Chemo today (my first day and had that option) but I kept seeing the Discussion Board in my head. Just feel I need to do everything possible to survive and live a quality life. Spent 6 hours in a chair hooked to an I.V. Ugh, I feel like I have been hit by a barn. Brighter tomorrow and will write more but exhausted right now. Blessings to allKiss

StillVerticle, I sent all my morning prayers for you today!  I remember the "hit by a barn" feeling, I would go to bed and call it my "chemo coma"!  Here is a big (((((HUG))))) for you.

Mum, Costa Rica - how fun.  Keep us posted on the trip progression.  I love to hear about other's trips (and of course love going on my own) - I love to visualize being on vacation even if it's someone else's vacation!

I kinda liked the last four chemos because they dosed me up with Benedryl and I slept right through them.  I am very sensitive to Benedryl and I told the nurse after I had a hard time wakign from the first one.  So the next time they cut it in half, and I still had a difficult time waking.  The third time they cut the 1/2 dose in half and it was pretty good.  I slept but could get up and go drive home.  The last one, as the nurse was putting the bags up she connected me to the benedryl.  I knew immediately I was getting too much.  I asked if they had uses the cut dose, she said "what cut dose, ooooooooooh I see it in your chart".  I had to call a friend to lick me up and let me crash there, and then take me back to my car late that night to make the hour drive home.

I kinda liked the last four chemos too.  The IV benedryl and ativan really knocked me out and the hours passed fast.  I always had someone drop me off and pick me up cause I was so drowsy.  Some nights when I can't sleep, I wish someone could give me that IV Benedryl and Ativan  - though never the chemo again.

Now I'm home in my little town next to East Lansing called Williamston so I'll give the 7:00 pm weather report from Williamston: Partly cloudy skies, 37 degrees and the snow is slowly melting and I can see part of my driveway for the first time in a while!

Well, here in Tampa, FL it reached about 70 today.  It was glorious.  I wanted to go sit in the sun.  It is supposed to rain this weekend, but we really need it also.  From earlier posts, I am a 30 year Navy wife.  Lived for 3 years in Pearl Harbor, HI and because we were on base, we actually made money financially, but local friends found it hard to live there.  Florida is wonderful. We've lived in Florida on and off for a long time.  We went to Sanibel Island the first week of December.  It was warm and we sat on the beach in the sun.  But for you ladies up north, remember us in the summer when the temps reach the 100's and 100% humidity.

OMG, you girls make me so jealous. I am a recovering alcoholic/addict (21 years) and my drug tolerance is out around Pluto. Nothing touched anything today. Benedryl and ativan-H#LL, my Mom was dosing my milk with "Paragoric" (liquid opium) when I was in nappies. She liked me when I was sleeping. What was I thinking when I ate that first magic mushroom, followed by the combos for thirty some years?!!! I actually woke up during breast cancer surgery and slapped the surgeon-all followed by a flurry "coats" coming at me with intibation pipe-woke up with a huge fat lip and chin. Before I went under, I heard someone say "I have never had to use that many drugs on a person before" Yup everyone else was passed out in the chemo room today and I was eating M&M's and watching Ellen Show on flat screen, only to find out no CABLE to watch for six hours. Tongue out

Boring!  I have had issues with anesthesiologists because I tell them it doesn't take much to put me under and they don't listen.  When I had my last surgery 8 weeks ago, I told the surgeon and Anest. I needed less meds.  They agreed and it still took me five hours to get up and around after surgery so I could go home!

That just sucks!  Not enough anesthetic, too much anesthetic - happens all too often, when will they get it right???  And come on, NO CABLE???  That's ridiculous.  Sounds like the only good thing was the M & Ms - yummy!

StillVerticle ~ WOW!!!  Coming awake during surgery was my worst nightmare and I am happy to say it didn't come true!!

Ativan caused my privates to break out in itching and my lips to swell like Angelina Jolie.  Needless to say I won't ever take it again.

San Diego weather ~ clouds, high pressure, anticipate rain next week, beautiful day (although I didn't leave my office all day to enjoy it).

I've only been to the desert end of Cuba, Gitmo.  Hope you have fun in the tropical side.

There are supposedly five storms backed up ready to visit us this week.  So, I guess we get the umbrellas out of the mothballs.

Meece, Wine tasting is my FAVORITE activity.  We have two very good grape growing regions in Michigan so my hubby and I or friends and I go wine tasting a couple of times a year.  My dream is to take a wine tasting vacation in California!

Williamston, MI is cloudy, foggy, and 27 degrees.  I must get off the computer and finish the laundry and get packing for Cancun.  Two more sleeps and we're there!

I hope Mum is having a lovely warm break.

We had rain in Tampa yesterday and it has been up in the 70's today, but very, very windy. Wouldn't have mattered what was going on yesterday as I am a HUGE New Orleans Saints fan and I watched the game.Geaux Saints!

I, too want to garden, but I need to let everything be for awhile, cold really did its damage.  Tomorrow my dh and I are off of work.  It will be around 67 degrees and plan to go hit some golf balls.

After church today we stopped by an picked up a bag of potting soil.  On the way home it began to rain, and it hasn't stopped since.  Four hours solid.  That's a lot for us.  I was disappointed that I couldn't garden outdoors, so I went in the greenhouse and played in ther a couple hours.

We go wine tasting one or two times a month.  We have been up to Napa, but it is pretty expensive to taste up there.  The Central Coast is a lot more laid back in style.  There are over two hundred wineries so we can go and visit new ones each time, and one or two of our favorites.

We had over a half inch of rain today.  We'll see how much more we get over night.  May not seem like much to some, but here, it is a gully-washer!

Nothing, we got nothing overnight.  I emptied my rain guage and we'll see what we get today.  It is supposed to be windy/rainy today and tomorrow and rain through Friday.  I love rain, hate the wind.

I just saw the weather guesser on the news this morning,  We should get between 1/2 and 1-1/4 inch today. I think that's a pretty wide margin.  But looking forward to it.  I won't be able to garden much during the week anyway.

Talk about spring fever!  Here in central Maine ist's 21 degrees and snowing.  It't that fine, light, fluffy stuff that sparkles when the sun comes out after the snow.  It looks a lot like powerdered sugar being sifted on the world.

NativeMainer, that sounds so beautiful when I picture it in my head.  Lived up north some and the snow is what I loved to look at.  Meece, I completely understand about rain.  These parts of Florida have been in and out do drought so much, any rain we get is good.  It rained on Saturday and it was about 1/2-1 inch.  We could use so much more.

Recently thru an extended cold period, our local strawberry farmers pumped lots of water on the fields to try to save the crops (iced them over).  The heavy pumping caused sinkholes all over, which now requires lots of concrete to close them up.  Not so sure we needed to do that since water is so precious right now.

I woke up this morning with slightly above normal temps for this area (40) but there were patches of black ice around the county on the roads causing a couple of accidents, including a couple of roll overs. Sky is bright 'Carolina Blue' and the sun is shining. We had rain Saturday night and temps in the 50's during the day that helped to finish melting off the snow from a month ago (piled up in the parking lots)

    Morning

Mary - I was glad to see your post - I have been wondering how surrounding fruit with ice saves them from a freeze?

Weather here in Virginia is going up to 53 degrees.  Most of our blizzard snow is gone - just a smidgeon of the piled up snow around town.  Lawns are green again.  The thing I like about winter is that once it snows, no matter what your yard looks like - it looks the same as all your neighbors!

Mary, they do the same thing around here for certain crops.  I just go out to my greenhouse and eat the straberries right off the plant.

The wind has been bad this morning. Several areas of the city have lost their power.  Wish I were there!Wink

The theory with encasing the fruit in ice is that it protects it and when it thaws, it does not damage it like a hard frost would just freeze it.  I know with our citrus here, most of the time the oranges are only good for juice after the cold we have had.  Strawberries are big business here, but they never taste right.  I have an niece and nephew-in-law who are organic farmers in Ithaca, NY.  They've taught me to buy the smallest berries I can find.  They are sweeter and not just full of water with no taste.

Meece, When I was in NY several summers before the BC diagnosis and at my niece's farm, they were going to plow up the strawberries the next morning as they were about done for the season.  My sis and I went out in the field and ate them straight off the plant like little kids.  We laughed at our red smeared faces and fingers.  Was a child again for awhile.  Great memory.

The power is out around town.  Trying to find a restaurant for lunch was horrible, everyone else had the same idea.

The Central Coast is known for strawberries.  I started with two plants two years ago, and have some plants left outside in the ground and others in the green house.  I feel bad when I don't share my greenhouse ones, but that is the payment I get for putting the work effort in.
