Hello - I just found this group today.  I've read some of your posts from the last few months and would love to join this group.  I finished chemo in September, radiation last month, and began Femara Thanksgiving weekend so I'm hoping I'm on the road to getting my life back to it's new normal.

I live near Dianne in a small town called Williamston however, I work at Michigan State in East Lansing.

    Warm regards,

    Suzette

Welcome Suzette.  My brother actually has a Williamston address but lives on Meridian road.  My daughter and husband went to Michigan State and I went to U of M so we have fun when they play each other.  Glad things will be getting back to your new normal soon.

Hello peg119.  I live a few miles from north Meridian road and it is part of my route to work everyday.  I'll think of you and your family on January 26th when the men's basketball teams play each other!  Thanks for the welcome.

Merry Christmas to all, hope your holiday was lovely : )

Just stopping in to say hello...it's been a while.  Hope everyone is well.

To those doing chemo at U of M, I finished my chemo there last June.  Hang in there, it's tough for sure, but it will be over before you know it.  My doc there was Hayes, rarely saw him, mostly saw his PA, Lita.  No one ever told me to take benedryl for the glowing red face, so I always looked sun-burned, lol.

I will try to visit here more often, and maybe I won't miss the next get together.

Merry Christmas to all  I know it is a little late but I have been off for a while.

Suzette - Hi  welcome to the group. This is a great group of ladies.  I am at home with my kids, but my husband works up at State. What a good feeling to be done.  I am having stage 2 of my DIEP on Jan. 5th in Novi.  So I am in my final stages.

We also have the MSU/U of M thing in our family.  Our daughter is a freshman at U of M.

    Take care

gcpommom - nice to meet you! I am a patient of Dr. Hayes and his nurse Lita. So far they seem very nice and have answered all my questions. I just finished my second round of AC on Tuesday and all went well. Two down - two to go.

If ever there is a group that meets close to Marshall/Battle Creek let me know.

Leslie:  I did like Dr. Hayes, but only got to actually see him a few times...Lita handles most appointments.  I didn't 'get' Lita at first, she seemed kind of abrupt, but I came to like her so much...she's great at responding to emails with my many questions, lol.  However, I could tell that they don't agree with alot of the info/ideas/symptoms I read about here on BCO.

Gotta love the extras at U of M....the singing Amish(?) ladies, the coffee cart, massages, etc...they really take care of you there.

Those singing Amish were out in force on Tuesday. They sang very well and it was enjoyable. I still laugh at the girls who come down the halls and knock on the door asking if you want something to eat or drink. Only U of M...  Laughing

    Old timers.

Had my recall-recall mamo yesterday. Not good news. Proliferation.

Headed to hospital momentarily for biopsy. Four total strangers sacrificing their day off New Year's Eve Morn to speed me toward the next chapter for me.

    Pathology back early next week.

I know you'll send prayers. Thanks, team.

F&F-So sorry to hear about your recall mamo...I hope that the next few days go fast and that you get benign results.

    Judy-how is your daughter?

Leslie-hang in there with your tx.

Happy new year to all.  When are we planning a get together?

Probably very hard for you to imagine, but I am staying in a very 'calm' mode...... this trip around.

    I'm older & wiser & I have everyone here.

I feel like I 'owe' it to our sisterhood to keep my head above water on this waltz.

I'm pretending to be an empowered woman & so far, it's working. LOL.

Now ask me next week. More laughing-out-loud!!

    Faith -

You have been in my thoughts ever since I saws your post last night. Don't know what to say. Don't feel like you have to do anything for the rest of us - we are here for you.

Terry is better - he is on vancomycin, which seems to have defeated the c.diff infection, and he is on the road to recovery. He is eating regularly, and everything is going well.

Today is my 2 year anniversary of my diagnosis. I am grateful that I am beyond that time - my surgeon and I did not communicate at all, although he was a very good surgeon, so this was one of the most difficult weeks of my life, until someone finally told me what my diagnosis was.

Let me know if you all decide to get together.

Good morning to all...............did everyone survive the holidays????

Sue, I was actually coming here to see if there was any word on Terry.........I'm so glad things are going well!

The singing Amish at U of M !!!!  I didn't have my treatments there, but DH did............I was kinda liking the massages they offered.....(not the Amish but the therapists!)

Glad to see post from so many and keeping all crossed for you Faith.

I'll be the first to 'spill the beans'..............Our NC Friend, Iris is joining us for the Komen walk in May!  I'm looking forward to seeing her and all of you...............in a different setting from last time.

    Let me know about lunch!

I've been on the phone since I posted several hours ago.

My surgeon called. The path is in. It is indeed DCIS. He calls that cancer: 3 cm.

I just deplore the having-to-tell-everyone portion of this journey.

I have spoken to everyone in my biological family.

To their credit, my DH, each of my daughters & my parents have said the right things & avoided saying the 'wrong' things. LOL.

    I've trained them well.

I am scheduled for a bilat mastectomy (I guess it's time to learn how to spell that word) with no recon. Friday Jan15th..... yes. In a little over 10 days. First surgery of the day, as of this moment 7:30 a.m. That is my daddy's birthday and I take that as a good omen.

In speaking with him/them tonight, he said that he'd be happy to share the goodness of that day with me and my med team and Martin Luther King, Jr. (well actually I'm adding that part.... but it is a good day in all of my experience.)

So please don't say: "I'm soooo sorry." Enough non-BC people will be saying that for the next several months, I really don't want any of you to say it.

Yes. We're all sorry, we're sorry to be in this boat.

Thank goodness there is a boat for us, though. A boat together.

This time around I do have enough sense to grasp that stage 0 is stage 0.

My surgeon wants to impress upon me that I am opting for an emotional removal of healthy boob-ness  & that it is not medically indicated.

    I get that.

I've made the decision to proactively remove every zip and squat of everything, breastage. End of discussion. I'm a fairly emotional person. I have grandchildren...... I want to do EVERYthing in my power to be here for them.

Enough about me, how was your day??

I will go next and post something on FB.

Thank you for your prayers. Keep them coming: calm & acceptance.

Faith - We are here to help you sail the boat. If you find yourself in troubled waters let us help. I can tell this time around you are calmer and acceptive. Best wishes for you on the 15th.

Sue - Glad Terry is doing better and congrats on your 2 yr. anniversary.

Neesie - Yippee Iris is joining our Wings of Hope Team!

Thank you, also, for making sure that there is no snow...you know I am not sure what that stuff is? Kidding...we do see it,sometimes,on coast...but rarely. May will be here before we know it...again,thanks and so looking forward to the Race/events. Both of you have such neat families/grands...love the pics!

Faith,am so very sorry that more surgery is in store for you. The 14th is my father's birthday and the 15th a favorite aunt's...so,good vibes are being sent to you from here. Will be thinking of you!

Faith - you have so much grace.  I don't know how you do it.  I know you don't want me to say - I'm sorry -  but I will say that really sucks.  We are here for you and don't hold it in if you feel a melt down coming on!  You are allowed you know.

Iris - I wasn't too excited about the Race yet.  It's so cold and I'm freezing my arse off.   But, with you joining us, Whoo Hoo!   Should I start up the Wings of Hope team?

    Neesie, thinking of you.

Sue - Hope your hubby is on the mend.  Even a little improvement has got to be some relief.

I'll be thinking of you next week Faith & also pconn who is having surgery the same day.

Hope everyone is well. For those going through treatment, check in and tell us how you are doing.

Tell me you can't look at this picture and smile!  I think I may print it up and put it on the wall since it gives me a laugh every time I see it.

Faith,  I had a bilateral Mast. Sept. 08 after a return of BC in the right side.  I was very much like you in wanting this to never happen again.  My girl friends threw me a relaxing going way party.  We had so much fun.  Good drinks, good food and good friends are the best.  I also didn't have reconstruction right away.  This past Tuesday I had revisions done to my DIEP. Feeling great.

    Well wishes going your way.

pconn, my dear Pat -  hoping your knee surgery went fine also!

    Hi everybody,

Haven't been here in awhile but it doesn't mean I wasn't thinking of everyone.  Time has just gotten away from me.  We were downtown at the Monster Truck show last night, LOTS of testosterone, and all of a sudden I saw hit by all the wonderful memories of the Walk last May.  Can't wait for the 2010 version.  Has any date been set for a get-together in January?  Sure would like to see everyone again.  Guess I'll hit the bed but best wishes for the new year.  Prayers are with all those who walking on paths they would rather not be on.  Take care, dear friends.

    Blessings,

    Wendy

Hi Ladies,  Haven't posted in a long time, sorry about that.  We are out in California and spending time with our granddaughters.  One turned 2 and other turning 5 while here.  Too much fun!  Faith, you are in my prayers.  Wish I had checked in sooner, but I sure am praying surgery went well and you are on the mend.  The emotional part will be tough, I'm sure, but you'll do well.  Darned cancer!!!!!  I know others who have had a new cancer show up and went the mastectomy route.  I would too!  The girls would have to go.  I'm coming up on 3 years on Feb 8.  Love and prayers to all of you! Our thread was slowing sinking to the bottom of the page I just had to bring us back on top Wink

Hope all is well with everyone.

Should we try for a get together after Valentines weekend? We should all be dug out from the next snow storm. My area predications are possible 12 inches by Wednesday evening. Anyone want to come play in the snow? Me either I was fine with our mild winter in lower MI.

    Happy shoveling!

I like it when I'm inside and not driving in it!  Thankfully I am allowed from home when needed so today is one of those days.  My dear SIL just came and plowed our our driveway - we live in the county in the north part of Williamston - so if it doesn't drift too much today I should be able to get out to go to work tomorrow. : D

Hope all are well and staying 'safe' in this blasted winter stuff!  Got to say.......I Hate Snow and it gets worse for me every year..........don't even know where to go to vacation and get away from it seeing every state in the country has some snow!

Thanking you for the special thoughts and caring with my Mom dying last week.  You're a special group of ladies!

The walk will be here before we know it and if I don't get off my arse and move a bit, I'll never make it the 3 miles...........now that is pathetic!

Suzette and Peg, don't usually come across this thread.  Caught your posts, however.  I grew up on N. Meridian Road.   I get back from time to time to visit family.  We've been tossing around the idea of doing the Komen run at the Capitol at the end of April, any others here doing it?
